Advisor(s) of Vladimir Rokhlin (Soviet mathematician)

[edit]

Hi Olegviro, welcome to Wikipedia. Which reference did you use to support your change on the advisor of Vladimir Rokhlin (Soviet mathematician)? -- SchreyP (talk) 19:40, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SchreyP. I have known Vladimir Abramovich Rokhlin personally, he was my Teacher and advisor for my Ph.D. (1974). We were in contact for more than 15 years. He told me about Plessner. As for documents, see the article by A. M. Vershik, “Vladimir Abramovich Rokhlin 1919–1984 (on the 70th anniversary of his birth)”, Algebra i Analiz, 2:2 (1990), 227–235 (Russian) and its English translation in Leningrad Mathematical Journal, 1991, 2:2, 419–426, or paper by the same author "Vladimir Abramovich Rokhlin" in book AMS Translation 202:2, Advances in the Mathematical Sciences, Topology, Ergodic Theory, Real Algebraic Geometry, pages 11-20. Best regards, Oleg Viro Olegviro (talk) 17:18, 6 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Oleg, Thanks for this answer. This is more than detailed enough! I will try to include this as references in the article. I also think that Rokhlin earns more details in his article, if I see how much people he influenced. And you are one of those privileged ones! So I will contact you probably later to review some details, because I can't speak/read Russian. Kind Regards, Patrik Schrey SchreyP (talk) 20:05, 6 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
