Information icon Hello, I'm Tacyarg. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Halsey Beshears, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Tacyarg (talk) 18:08, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there! I am happy to correct my changes. How would you suggest I do so? Thank you! NursePractitioner101 (talk) 03:07, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, as far as I can tell from the article on "how we write about living people, there is a specific section regarding Reliable sources and to Avoid victimization:
Avoid gossip and feedback loops
See also: Wikipedia is not a newspaper and Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources § Breaking news
Avoid repeating gossip. Ask yourself whether the source is reliable; whether the material is being presented as true; and whether, even if true, it is relevant to a disinterested article about the subject. Be wary of relying on sources that use weasel words and that attribute material to anonymous sources. Also beware of circular reporting, in which material in a Wikipedia article gets picked up by a source, which is later cited in the Wikipedia article to support the original edit.
Avoid victimization
When writing about a person noteworthy only for one or two events, including every detail can lead to problems—even when the material is well sourced. When in doubt, biographies should be pared back to a version that is completely sourced, neutral, and on-topic. This is of particular importance when dealing with living individuals whose notability stems largely or entirely from being victims of another's actions. Wikipedia editors must not act, intentionally or otherwise, in a way that amounts to participating in or prolonging the victimization.
Beshears resigned from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation amid a grand jury investigation into alleged crimes “involving commercial sex acts with adult and minor women, as well as obstruction of justice” and tied to a Bahamas trip he took with Gaetz and several women. [1]
The above article is gossip, slander, victimizing and should not be sourced based on the guidelines you have provided me.
Please assist me in ensuring I have sourced the information correctly for this edit.
Thank you! NursePractitioner101 (talk) 03:13, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I see you've made some more changes to the article. I am going to remove the paragraph you have added about his health information. You have sourced it to information from a family member. This is not a reliable, published source. I will post a Welcome to this page with some information about sourcing. If you have further questions, the teahouse is probably the best place to go. Best wishes, Tacyarg (talk) 03:16, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I will check out the teahouse. NursePractitioner101 (talk) 03:21, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Lastly, Material that may adversely affect a person's reputation should be treated with special care; in many jurisdictions, repeating a defamatory claim is actionable, and there are additional protections for subjects who are not public figures. Again, thank you for your feedback. NursePractitioner101 (talk) 03:20, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I have started a discussion on the article's Talk page about the removal of the paragraph sourced to Politico (which is a reliable source as far as I know). Please feel free to contribute to the discussion. I am wondering, though, whether you know, represent, work for or are the person who is the subject of the article? If so, please read the guidance on conflict of interest. Tacyarg (talk) 03:46, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!
