Discussion[edit]

Purpose of the template[edit]

I stumbled on this via the small edit war on Fasile. What exactly is the point of this template? User:Garzo has done an excellent job on making the {{language}} template fit for constructed languages. Personally, I can't really see the additional value of this. Also, I and others have invested a lot of work on implementing the {{language}} template on many conlang pages, and frankly, I don't feel very much like going over the whole thing again and again, unless there is a very good reason for it. In any case, I believe the most appropriate place to discuss this would be Wikipedia:WikiProject Constructed languages. I'm looking forward to your comments there. —IJzeren Jan In mij legge alle fogultjes een ij 08:21, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, not realizing that there was Project for conlangs, I posted an explanation on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Languages#Template:Infobox Conlang. In short, the Language template depends on nested templates (within templates within templates....) to do what it does. To conform to WP:AUM, I've proposed this template as part of a long-term strategy, basically that all the constructed languages use a template designed expressly for them. It simplifies the technical side greatly, while not adding much in the way of on-going maintenance. Oh, and as far as the implementation, I'll be all too happy to help. This template uses virtually the same parameters as the old one, and I have some automated tools to help. -- Netoholic @ 08:46, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Size of the flag[edit]

The size of the flag is blindening! The Slovio-flag is painfully big to the eyes. At least that Esperanto-flag is soothing green, but still those star spikes are coming out of the screen, stabbing my eyes. If I take a look at Lojban or Novial... Auch! Can you make it half-size? -- ActiveSelective 13:26, 14 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Now the templates on those conlang pages have changed again. The flag size is smaller. .... Owww, I see there is discussion about which template to use. I wasn't aware of it .... Anyhow, with regard to smaller flags, I hope it will be incorperated in whatever template is eventually used on those pages; whether it is this one or another. -- ActiveSelective 08:57, 15 January 2006 (UTC) (seriously, what the hell were those conlangers thinking when they created all those ugly flags?)[reply]
Ah, nice. Well done. -- ActiveSelective 23:24, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
