Why am I blocked?[edit]

Hello Admins,

Why am I blocked??? I was going to tidy up the Deatha and State Funeral of Nelson Mandela article When I am informed of the following:

CheckUser evidence has determined that this user account has been or may be used abusively. It has been blocked permanently to prevent abuse.

What does this mean? What did I Do wrong? Is it because of my user page? That was meant to be a joke.... I can remove it if you wish.

Thank you

Nelson Mandela was not Batman (talk) 14:03, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You were blocked because a user suspected that you were the same person as Bonkers The Clown, and when I looked, I found their suspicion to be valid. —DoRD (talk) 14:23, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

DoRD ... What? Which user has Been feeding you lies? Today is the first time I have heard if this user! How can I prove my innocence?

Thank you,

Lengthy, humourous, slightly WP:FAKEARTICLE-y userpage? checkY
Interest in the recent 2013 Little India Riots article? checkY
Damn near identical conversational and writing style? checkY
Username and userpage skirting possibly controversial race-based issues? checkY
And finally, using the same computer device? checkY
I think the evidence is pretty convincing. When I asked DoRD to run a checkuser on this account I was hoping that he'd prove me wrong; I'm saddened to see that my suspicions were entirely correct. Yunshui  14:43, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yunshui 雲水 ... I humbly protest. I just started My wiki career. I do not know much about that editor so I shall not counter that. the riots are big news in SE Asia and maybe even the world! So what if my username is funny? May be a Bit Controversial, but point being? Lastly, I am not even using a computer! So this shows that you're making a joke Big time. I am typing this away using a Samsung tablet. Nelson Mandela was not Batman (talk) 14:50, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As a non-CU, I can't see exactly what device you're using - but i do have a reasonable idea of how accurate a CU investigation can be, and I trust DoRD's word a hell of a lot more than yours right now. Yunshui  14:55, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Yunshui:

I have been tolerance towards your illogical antics, thinking that you misunderstood. I am not a Sockpuppet please doNot Snub me.... I just want to edit on Nelson Mandela and Batman topics, but why am I faced with this problem? I AM using a Samsung Note Tablet. Please show Evidence and Check Again, this case is Bonkers.... Stop Wasting my time.

Thank you.

Just so you know, Yunshui is an administrator. So if you are looking for admin help, he can help you. DoRD is a checkuser/admin, he can also help you. There's also 1400 other admins that can assist you, but ask these guys first. Epicgenius (talk) 13:26, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Extenuating in furtherance of Epicgenius' counsel, I have marked the {{help}} template as being answered. Because you are blocked, your recourse is to post your requests using the {{unblock}} template; in the following form:
{{unblock | reason=your reason here ~~~~}}
I am one who supports a pure form of AGF, and I will do what I do, to ensure you have been accorded its fair measure. I am doing this; torn—as I am beyond confident in DoRD's competence, and professionalism; predisposed to know that his reported conclusion is flawless and that it is as nearly impossible as it is possible to be, that a mistake could have happened, yet I will ask for another CU to look into this, fully expecting them to concur with DoRD. I strongly suspect that DoRD has himself asked a colleague to help him ensure there was nothing in err, before even posting his result, and that confirmation already exists that you have been afforded a full measure of wp:agf; having exhausted it already. Then, of course, your actions will be seen more and more as vindictive trolling, and, more than likely, your talk page access would soon after, be blocked; to prevent your ability to initiate the wasting of another's time. I will join in damning your beguiling ways if it comes to pass in this manner. The last reaming chance you have to preserve a redeeming quality for yourself depends on a cessation of all charades! Otherwise, enjoy the time you've robed from me, including at the teahouse, and make it sufficient as a reward, because it will be the last of it. Cheers.—John Cline (talk) 14:54, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Continuing from John Cline's talk (may I say diatribe?), the only way that you can redeem yourself is to edit on other Wikimedia projects and then, in six months, come back for the standard offer. Afterwards, you must agree to stop disruptive activity, otherwise you will be re-blocked. Epicgenius (talk) 15:43, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Where is the mentioned Check User / Sock Puppet Inspection log entry btw? Shouldn't it be linked as evidence on the user page sockblock template? --Pitke (talk) 16:58, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Pitke: It was confirmed by DoRD but no SPI has been opened yet. Epicgenius (talk) 17:25, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Additional note[edit]

Even if this account were not blocked for other reasons, I consider the username to be unacceptable. Newyorkbrad (talk) 17:03, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why? --Pitke (talk) 20:11, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Pitke: I think it could be seen as tasteless considering Mandela's death a few days ago. --Jakob (Scream about the things I've broken) 02:21, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
To say the least. Newyorkbrad (talk) 02:32, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, now I see. Well. It might be in bad taste especially having been created at this time, but really I cannot still see it being so offensive it should be blocked on those grounds, especially seeing that time will be passing. Referring to a generally well-respected person by name after their passing in a light-hearted yet non-malicious way is pretty innocent. Unless one thinks "not being Batman" is a malicious thing to say. --Pitke (talk) 10:21, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
One would also find the username in violation of a restriction informally imposed on User:Bonkers The Clown, which forbids him to edit articles relating to race. And he did it anyway, with a username comparing Nelson Mandela to Batman. The username would have been blocked nonetheless, even if this was not Bonkers's sockpuppet. Epicgenius (talk) 13:33, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think we ought to spend much more time on this, but I think it is fairly obvious that having a page like Death and state funeral of Nelson Mandela being edited by someone with the username "Nelson Mandela was not Batman" would reflect adversely on the project. Newyorkbrad (talk) 14:24, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Pitke, a username needn't be offensive to violate our username policy; it can be a violation for being disruptive as well. Considering the timing of this account's creation in proximity of Mandela's death, it becomes hard to imagine this as a mere coincidence, and wp:gaming our policy to pit editors against each other is certainly done in bad faith. Can you say your editing rhythm hasn't been altered; considering the time and effort you have spent commenting on this user's username? Did you not align yourself against me when I suggested this user read our username policy? Clearly the name had a potential to disrupt editing, which is why I commented as I did at the teahouse. I believe the name has achieved that potential and that measurable disruption has occurred. Oh, by the way, I personally found the callous disregard, hidden in the username's sentiments to be offensive. Cheers.—John Cline (talk) 14:47, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ach, now I understand the point better. I can get behind the thought of this being a disruptive username. I'll keep that in mind and have another glance at the policy. Thanks for remaining patient with me. --Pitke (talk) 15:23, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
