LCF (Band)

Yes, thank you for deleting my article about LCF(Band). We're only a new alternative band that would like the free publicity and "coolness" that comes from us having our band on Wikipedia. Oh and we're all about 14 so thanks for destroying some children's dreams.

  • Wikipedia is not for providing free publicity for unknown new bands. Please read WP:MUSIC before you post your next sarcastic comment. NawlinWiki (talk) 02:57, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I made a wikipedia page for my cricket club and we currently hold the English National record of winning the National Under 13s cup which is a significant achievement in cricket within the English Cricket Board, why would the page be deleted - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wycombe_house_cricket_club we're reocgnised my the Local Professional side as having produced the most amount of professional cricket players in the County in the last 15 years as well

Redacted edit summaries

I don't remember seeing so many edit summaries being removed before. What is the issue - could you give an example of the sorts of edit summaries that are being removed? Is this a new policy? Every time I look at my watch list I see many redactions logged and I don't recall seeing any obnoxious edit summaries in these articles. Are we just beautifying the edit history, or is there an ongoing problem with some editor? --Wtshymanski (talk) 16:07, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • This is a cleanup project of old edit summary vandalism by a particular vandal, who used automated software to spread hundreds of abusive edit summaries that included a link to a browser-crashing website (see revision deletion category RD3). I'll email you an example. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:09, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dj Silky

Hi,

I have written everything on here in my own words.

YOU ARE BEING WATCHED

You got a lot of nerve deleting my page!

Many lesser bands are mentioned on Wikipedia.

A band with several albums that has been around for thirty years & is currently playing has a right to be on Wikipedia.

You are being watched! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nantucketnoon (talk

Hi there, I was going to create the page Focus Bikes, but as it was created in the past and deleted by yourself, I must now contact you as per Wikipedia guide lines. I am going to create the article based on Focus Bikes which is a bicycle manufacturer and I am not going to make it an advertorial. I presume this it not an issue and await your reply. Thanks. First Love - John Clare

Hi I made a page earlier for the John Clare poem 'First Love'. Despite holdon ing it, and explaining that the Copyright bot was in the wrong as the poem does not belong to http://www.romanticlovesecrets.com/First-Love-Poems.html, it belongs to nobody as this site is simply reciting the poem, you have deleted the page. Why?

I wrote an article about pillow pets earlier. After unambigous promo speedy delete notice, I added hangon tag and explained that this page did not promote any particular company or brand. The article informs about what pillow pet means, its first use in commerce, and how it works. Thanks

Frédéric Kristiansson

Dear NawlinWiki,

I made a mistake by creating the profile of Frédéric Kristiansson on the English Wikipedia. Indeed since he was elected as a student representative between 2004 and 2006(you can check it there: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conseil_National_de_la_Vie_Lyc%C3%A9enne ) but is not anymore, the press service could not create his page with any official login. I was mistaken by using "Ministère de l'Education" because it is a Moral Person, and therefore I checked with the administrator Peter, and renamed my account as Emartin33.

A point which bother me though is that a lot of terms are technique and requires an explanation like the abbreviations CNVL, CNJ, etc.. but they do not exist on the English wikipedia. I therefore thought that instead of putting a link to the french wikipages, I would directly put a link toward the sites of the organizations, which are translated in English: Is that also ok with you? Otherwise I am opened to any suggestions and advices. Best Regards, and sorry to have bothered you with those errors.

Emartin33 13:40, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

  • (1) You really shouldn't link to external sites. (2) I still don't see how Mr. Kristiansson meets the notability guidelines of WP:BIO or the sourcing guidelines of WP:V, so I still don't think he should have an article here. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:15, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, then I will link to articles of wikipedia directly and just put the sites as 'external links'. F. Kristiansson was representing all the French students, which means 2 millions students at both the Minister of Youth and the Minister of Education for 3 years, and launched the debate about teaching first aid at school. He contributed to present school not only as a scholar place but also as a social one, as it is for instance in Sweden. That is why I thought it would be interesting to put him on the english wikipedia, since comparisons with other countries'educative system are highly relevant(especially since I heard he was now a representant at the European Youths, but I am not a 100% sure so I did not add that info on his page). So is that Ok for you if I re-do the article and try with attention to make it follow the guidelines you mentioned above, and with a new account(so that there is no problem of a 'moral person'). Here again, I will gladly welcome your advices and experience. Best Regards,

Emartin33 (talk) 19:54, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear NawlinWiki, Primerily I had to change my username because of the problem mentioned above, so it is now easier to use Discover33 (little ref to the fact that I am a newbie ;) You will find here all the infos you need to be sure that my page was reliable and relevant and that there is no Notability problems. I therefore ask you the permission to re-create it, this time following the guidelines you mentioned.

You will firstly find the visit card that we made for him[maybe delete it after having seen it because I wouldn't want anyone to use those infos]File:Carte de visite FK.jpg

and a link to the discussion between the former Minister of Education, now Prime minister Francois Fillon here, released by the Ministery of Education itself:

"M. Kristiansson. -N'est-il pas alors important que dans chaque lycée de France, les élèves puissent bénéficier de cette formation ?

(It is important that every highschool teaches students first aid)

M. Fillon. -Nous allons donc le mettre en oeuvre.

(It will be done)[1] p18

and then with the next minister Gilles de Robien:

"F. Kristiansson. -Ces lois ont-elles ou seront-elles mises en application prochainement ou votre nomination va-t-elle les modifier?

(When will the law be implemented, does the fact that you are the new minister changes anything?"

G. de Robien. -c'est une question de semaines et non pas de mois (It is a question of weeks, not months now)[2] p21

Here again, the point is not about taking part, but to show that F. Kristiansson is indeed part of the debate right now in France on whether or not First aid should be taught at school. And it is with-and by comparison- to other countries that this debate is done. So as a subject of European importance, especially since we try to take the best from every system, I do think that it is important to have him on the English wikipedia. If it is ok with you, I will also improve the page about first aid, which lakes the civic dimension of teaching students not only to be workers, but also citizens.

Sorry for that long explanation, but I wanted to highlight the relevance of this subject.

Best Regards,

Debate about Red Baron's funeral on Missing man formation

Someone who apparently imagines that Von Richthofen is a figure from the SECOND world war is madly reverting over a silly idea that funeral flyovers originated from his funeral. His source indicates that it is a supposition, but he insists is "useful" and "accurate". Anyway, I would appreciate your having a look at this as we need to get a consensus.--Soundofmusicals (talk) 22:25, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have this page under Watch. I am that person and take your "madly" as a WP:NPA. Let's keep it on the talkpage where it belongs and not draw in admins. I believe NawlinWiki knows me and my history. --Morenooso (talk) 22:27, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, I just checked Soundofmusicals' contribs. Looks like this is one of seven invites. --Morenooso (talk) 22:34, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And fair enough too - this kind of sillyness (not call anyone silly - we all do silly things from time to time) needs to be speedily resolved - and no one will pick this one up without an invitation while the subject is expressed (on your insistence) so cryptically. The people I have invited were chosen from the list of people who have recently edited the "Red Baron" article, not because they were, or were not, administrators - nor because they are necessarily likely to agree with me - in fact at least one of them is someone I have had vigorous debate with in the past. This is not about point scoring, but keeping Wiki factual and encyclopedic as opposed to supposition riddled. To repeat - there is one source, and it talks about a "rumour". (READ IT!!! PLEASE!!!) Sorry incidentally if you take this as a personal attack - my intent is NOT to "attack" you - but your reverts - my opinion that they are "mad" is of course just my opinion - and in any case was not meant to imply anything about you. I do mad things every day, I think most of us with any character do.!--Soundofmusicals (talk) 22:59, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
At least one of the "invitees" has shown up. WP:NPA is WP:NPA and inviting others to an article with the same words is the worst kind of WP:NPA as far as I am concerned. I am walking away from my computer to WP:COOL. --Morenooso (talk) 23:01, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Virginia Rugby Football Club

I was wondering why this page was deleted given that several other rugby teams of the same stature are included upon Wikipedia. Running a search for rugby clubs yields teams like the Washington Renegades, Harrisburg RFC, or the St. Louis Hornets, teams that cannot be said to be any more notable than the VRFC given its history. If your concern is that the team is not "professional," then there could not be rugby pages about any of the clubs that I just mentioned. Thank you for your consideration of the matter. Hi. Back in February you fully protected this redirect, which currently points to Psychopathy. Sociopathic personality disorder on the other hand points to Antisocial personality disorder, and Sociopathy, an unprotected redirect, I've just changed to point there as well. I think that all three should point to the same place, and it seems to me that Antisocial personality disorder is the more specifically precise place (Psychopathy is a more general subject). Can you make the edit, or lift the protection? Thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 04:02, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I am new comet to Wikipedia and I would like some advice on dealing with people who continue to include material that is incorrect and promotional on the Australian Psychological Society wiki page. A new organisation has been set up in competiton with the Austrlain Psychological Society and its members are continually placing misleading material that is suported by slanderous newspaper references onto this page. They use the reference to the Wiki page to attract new members. I have tried to include the correct and referenced positions of the Australain Psychological Society however it keeps getting taken off and replaced with theirs. I used the wiki rules and used talk to try and be reasonable but keep getting blunt threats to restrict my access!! Is it possble to protect the site to stop this continuing??Nik50382 (talk) 00:17, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WWM

Hi ... Could you take a look at the article again please? There are now references from peer groups (The Fatherhood Institute), a House of Commons Select Committee link to a project, and a regional news link. Thanks for your help Webnaut (talk) 11:55, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Essentially I need one external source which describes the work of WWM to validate the article? The Fatherhood Institute which is a peer group working in the sector references the work of WWM as does House of Commons notes. If we look at the Fatherhood Institute their references do not outline their work in great detail http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatherhood_Institute. My article took this as a lead, am I missing something here in the discrepancy between their article and mine? Thanks again Webnaut (talk) 12:44, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Brunen IT

Hi, maybe you are a bit too fast in your deleting rigor ;-( May I ask you to acknowledge that there is a page like this... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_computer_system_manufacturers ...on which Brunen IT was mentioned before I came there, but it was outlined in red, which as you know means that, on clicking the link, you're ASKED to write the missing page. That's what I did. The person who started this company is one of most aggressive newcomers in Germany's IT industry. Not that I like him, in fact I don't. But he's come to be kinda big number here, so Brunen is a name some people related to the IT industry (even in the states) might have heard of and find some info that is NOT company PR of him and not in german only, i.e. an en.wikipedia.org entry. If you feel obliged to decide who on the world market is worth being mentioned and who's not, but unfortunately you don't have the knowledge and just guess, you'd better contact another admin who is more familiar what's going on elsewhere BEFORE you destroy other people's contributions. Maybe you should've taken care of the List of computer system manufacturers in the first place. It is not in alphabetical order anyway, so it could well use some bright guy to check & clean up. Ain't that a wonderful task for a highly motivated pal like U?

And now, PLEASE, undelete the text. Thanx.--Gressenicher (talk) 20:17, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I am also slightly concerned - you've used rev delete 349 times in 48 hours, that's 7.27 an hour, 24 hours a day. That is a lot of hidden revisions. Prodego talk 15:28, 20 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of content on Roleplaying Game and its talk page

I have Role-playing_game and the associated talk page on my watchlist. On May 18, 2010 you deleted some content and the content summaries. I'm wondering what that was about. If it was vandalism, who was the vandal? I am asking because I am curious and I like to be aware of what controversies are brewing. If it was just random nonsense, I'd like to know that too. Is there a way to see what was deleted, or do you remember generally what it was and who it was? Vampyrecat (talk) 17:07, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • It was an edit summary containing a link to a malicious browser-crashing website. NawlinWiki (talk) 17:08, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • I'm glad you deleted it before I tried to check the link. Thanks for clarifying. It sounds like it's not something that needs discussion over at the project page because it's not specifically related to roleplaying games. Vampyrecat (talk) 17:39, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of yoomoot and its talk page

The yoomoot page and it's talk page was deleted before I received an answer to my questions regarding it's alleged violation of Wikipedia's notability criteria. I would appreciate the opportunity to continue that discussion. As I understand, the page was deleted on the grounds that the referenced sources were no more than "brief summaries" of the content of yoomoot.com. In fact the length of the articles were standard for articles covering web apps and, more importantly, included original analysis of yoomoot.com which clearly goes beyond a mere descriptive summary. More importantly, the referenced sources were no more "brief summaries" than the referenced sources for similar web-apps which are on Wikipedia, for example Hunch (website). I would like to know why the referenced articles for Hunch and similar websites featured on Wikipedia meet Wikipedia's criteria while those supplied for yoomoot apparently do not. Lumpthing (talk) 19:07, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The following has been copied and pasted from my talk page – Lumpthing (talk) 09:09, 26 May 2010 (UTC):[reply]
Re Yoomoot - it looked to me that of the two sources cited, one was a blog and the other was essentially a wiki, which lists "15+ new sites a day" and asks users to vote on them. Neither source meets the reliability standards of WP:RS. That, plus the fact that this website is only 9 days old, indicates that it fails the notability standards of WP:WEB. If you develop more sources, please let me know. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:22, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(1) Which source did you consider a blog and how do you do distinguish between a blog and a reliable news source? You could dismiss any online magazine or newspaper as "essentially a blog"! Which source did you consider to be a wiki and did you find the "lists 15+ sites a day" comment. I think you must be mixing that up with something else you saw. I don't see how either source fails to meet the standards of WP:RS. Lumpthing (talk) 07:54, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(2) The website was not 9 days old. The website itself is over a year old while there has been a functioning web app with a participating community for several months (I can look into the exact day if you like). All that happened 10 days ago was that the community moved from being a private invite-only one to a public open-to-all one. Even if it were only 9 days old, where in WP:WEB does it say that new websites are not notable? Lumpthing (talk) 07:54, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(3) As I said before, I do not see that the sources on the deleted page were any less reliable than the sources for Hunch (website) (that was the first similar website I thought of; I'm sure there are many other examples). The Hunch page has seven referenced sources. References 3, 4, 7 and 7 are from from hunch.com itself! Reference 5 is from a personal blog. Reference 2 is mashable.com, which is a set-up that is exactly the same as techcrunch.com, which you consider to be an unreliable source. That leaves reference 1, vator.tv, which is another tech-focused website and is MUCH smaller, less well-known and altogether less-respected than either mashable.com or techcrunch.com. Why do the Hunch (website) referenced sources meet Wikipedia's critieria while yoomoot's reference sources did not? Lumpthing (talk) 07:54, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion, clause G4

Hello. I actively patrol the new pages and I was wondering, I often see a user recreating the same page over and over, when this happens can I use the G4 tag for recreating deleted material? I am unsure if speedy deletion qualifies as a suitable XfD process, or whether I should use the same tag that was used the first time around. I am curious as I think it may help admins to see whether the page needs to be salted. Thanks - ηyχαμς 21:37, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • No, g4 only applies to pages deleted after AFD discussion. Just retag the articles with the appropriate speedy tag. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 16:32, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sting Kickboxing Gym

Hello sir. You deleted a page I created, which is about a Kickboxing gym, which is the most dominant Kickboxing gym on the Victorian Fight scene, and Melbourne's most well known fight gym. It is not a promotional article, as it simply mentions a summary about the gym, and mentions a few well known professional Kickboxing Title holders that fight out of Sting gym, aswell as former World Champion Arthur Tsakanos. Also I've noticed there are other Kickboxing gyms, and fitness gyms which have their own wikipedia page. Would it be ok if you put it back up? If you can reply back, I would appreciate it. G11 Opinion

Hey, I just ran into this article and in my opinion, it's atrocious. I'm going to tag it for a G11 but I'm not particularly sure how strong that case will be. I'm going to tag it on the basis that I think it needs a fundamental rewrite to not sound like an advertisement. I've seen articles tagged for G11 and deleted for less but this article has a more extensive history than what I'm used to tagging. Mind taking a look and giving me an opinion? Re Danica Patrick

You may wish to reduce the visibility of the other two edits by the same anon IP which were just as vulgar. Totally uncalled for and warned. ----moreno oso (talk) 21:19, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. Now, for the quad trick, can you do the same for this DIFF? I wonder what's up with these guys today? Maybe they need a hobby. This is temp vandalism. I don't know if he got cited and I need to leave for a couple of hours. ----moreno oso (talk) 22:42, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Question about reduced visibilities

Is there a board for this? I hate to interrupt you while you are on a roll as I can see your work on the Recent Changes page. I have Patrick's article on my watchlist and asked for semi-protection after you did the other two RVs. I came her article awhile back because I saw vandalism from the Recent Changes page. I don't know why people like to tee off against her but they do. Yesterday's remarks/edits were totally uncalled for. It's one thing to be maybe macho and "try to take her down a peg" which could be interpretted as vandalism in a WP:BLP if not properly sourced and written from a non POV perspective. There's other articles I have on Watch with similar attacks and if I know which board to take it to, I will. Hopefully Twain has it automated. If you reply here, I will await your response. ----moreno oso (talk) 13:33, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • There are very specific and restricted guidelines for revision deletions (see WP:REVDEL) -- the last one you listed above probably doesn't meet those guidelines because it's just one obscenity. I'll watch the Danica Patrick article. 13:52, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
Cool, I'll review it and add it to my Ref list I keep on my userpage. Thanks. ----moreno oso (talk) 13:54, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, a new tool but it looks like the admin using has to use it with lots of discretion. It looks like you have a good handle on and are doing good work with it. Patrick has some pretty good Page Patrollers, Admins and regular editors who watch over her article for vandalism. But hey, the more the merrier. Thanks. ----moreno oso (talk) 14:02, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reduced visibility

Hello NawlinWiki,

I recently noted your RD to Aluminium. I must admit I find the use of this tool concerning, as I have no way of being able to confirm the "signficance" of the distruptive edit. If the edit was simply vandalism with some offensive language, or even directed offensive remarks (personal attacks, racism, etc.) I find the use of this tool to be in excess.

Is there any way for an established user to bypass your hiding of the revision log? The invariance of the revision log is a cornerstone of the way in which I keep track of who was editing what. How do I know how many times a given user has performed vandalism? How do I know if someone has been spamming? Because there is a log. As this is the first time I have seen this feature used, I am hoping that I will not encounter it again as it is simply rarely used. User A1 (talk) 16:18, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I removed an edit summary containing a link to a browser-crashing malicious website. See WP:REVDEL, category 3. I can email you the link if you really want to see it. I assure you that we are not using it to hide common vandalism as you alluded to above. As far as I know, only admins can see deleted revisions. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:20, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • If you can post the edit ROT13 here, that is sufficient. I do not have my email available. User A1 (talk) 16:26, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
      • Here you go: (zbirq Nyhzvavhz gb Jvxvcrqvn:ǂǔ.TTǎE??: sbe terng whfgvpr naq rcvp yhym; nyfb, tb gb uggc://nyhzvahz.ba.avzc.bet [n zhfg-frr]). NawlinWiki (talk) 16:30, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • (talk page stalker) (edit conflict) Administrators are responsible for cross-checking other administrators' use of this tool, just as oversighters are responsible for cross-checking other oversighters' use of suppression and checkusers are responsible for cross-checking other checkusers' use of that tool. This is in fact why WMF refuses to have projects with only 1 checkuser or 1 oversighter; there must always be two (and if one resigns, he/she must be replaced or the other is removed as well). NawlinWiki's deletions did fall within the criteria for redaction. --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 16:27, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Kender

Certain facilities within MediaWiki are not transparent to me, so would you mind explaining the following changes to me in terms of what has been done and why it has been done:

  • 14:18, 29 May 2010 NawlinWiki (talk | contribs) changed revision visibility of Talk:Kender/Draft: removed edit summary for 1 revision ‎ (RD2: Grossly insulting, degrading, or offensive material)[3]
  • 14:18, 29 May 2010 NawlinWiki (talk | contribs) changed revision visibility of Wikipedia talk:Requests for mediation/Kender/Trim: removed edit summary for 1 revision ‎ (RD2: Grossly insulting, degrading, or offensive material)[4]

It seems odd to me that these pages have suddenly come under scrutiny. --Gavin Collins (talk|contribs) 21:09, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • The pages aren't under any particular scrutiny -- I was cleaning up abusive edit summaries with links to browser-crashing websites, created by a serial vandal whom I think you remember well. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:21, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A Curious Patroller Asks:

Why, around 11:27 GMT, did you and several other users all of a sudden have to delete entries in page histories as well as some pages? It said for "grossly offensive comments", but are they all from the same user? 2D Maestro Immune Diplomat 11:35, 31 May 2010 (UTC) (you don't have to say what the comments are)[reply]

  • Yes, a longterm vandal using various sockpuppet accounts. NawlinWiki (talk) 11:35, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I also have some of the same curious concerns. As I can tell from some of this pages comments, others do as well. Is there any further justification for deleting entries from page histories? There seems to be quite a lot of these deletions lately.--Jojhutton (talk) 16:28, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The deleted comments fall within RD2 and RD3. Let me know if you want me to email you an example of the content. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:29, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I don't know how else to say it, but my concern is more toward the misuse of this tool (not that I'm saying that you are), rather than what was deleted. It has always been my understanding that "Admin Tools" were just that, "tools". Having the tools as an admin were not suppose to grant the user who has them, any special gift to make decisions without consensus. It's even more of a concern that this particular tool deletes any evidence to collborate its use. Like I said, its just a concern, but when there seems to be a larger than normal amount of deletions in this matter, I would say it tends to draw a crowd.--Jojhutton (talk) 16:48, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • This particular vandal has placed an awful lot of the same kind of vandalism over time (and let loose with a bunch more this morning). That said, I will keep your concerns in mind. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 16:56, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks.--Jojhutton (talk) 17:02, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good grief...

I cannot believe the gall of those freaks which lurked in the shadows and waited for their page-move marching orders. Fantastic catch. I plan on looking into getting the rights to strike the comments from the edit history; I don't want any of these little brats to have the satisfacton of returning to this site to see their damage. I swear, this site would fall on its face without you. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 17:32, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, NawlinWiki. My user page was moved again. I was wondering if the page could be move protected. I'm not too concerned with the moves as such, but someone has to move it back and, to me, that is wasted time. If there are technical reasons why move protection is a bad idea (or policy concerns), I'll understand. Thanks Tiderolls 18:09, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Revision deletion

I saw on the bicycle article, you changed the revision visibility of one revision per RD3. I thought that only oversighters could delete revisions, but you are not, so how did you delete the revisions? Thanks, --The High Fin Sperm Whale 04:04, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Change in the Wikipedia software, effective about a week ago - all admins can now delete revisions. See WP:REVDEL. NawlinWiki (talk) 08:50, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So what exactly is the difference between suppression and REVDEL? --The High Fin Sperm Whale 19:21, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oversight means that the revision/comment is gone, with no evidence apparent to a user or non-oversighter admin that it was ever there. Revdel leaves the evidence that there was an edit, and just removes the offensive edit or comment. Also, any admin can reverse a revdel. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:23, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yorke Engineering, LLC

Hi, I was wondering why you deleted my page because I wasn't really advertising the company (I'm not a part of it, I just thought it was a significant natable company that has done a lot of important work and contributed greatly to the field). Also, I had already been notified of the "plagerism" so I went through it and redid the entire thing to make sure that it was my own work. I don't think that it should have been deleted because I didn't do any of the reasons that you gave for deleting it. Could you please undo that??

Deletion of revisions

Just a comment. I do not see the point in deleting/hiding revisions when someone has replaced some content by the word "Fuck". It may be good for vandal fighters who are not admins to see this sort of stuff. I think grossly offensive should mean exactly that, "grossly offensive" and particularly with respect to BLP. Rangeblock Request

Hello, I was wondering if you could rangeblock the 4.227 range due to continous vandalism. A user in the 4.227 range, licensed to "Level 3 Communications, Inc.", has been vandalizing articles for awhile now, especially KEWI. Below is a list of the ones that have vandalized the KEWI article over the past couple years.

The user appears to be a school-aged child after this edit was 170.211.171.186 licensed to "Arkansas Public School Computer Network".

Could a rangeblock be placed on the 4.227 range for say, a year? It would be appreciated. - NeutralHomerTalk • 21:52, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • That's a pretty big rangeblock - even without the 4.226 IP (did you mean 4.227 on that one?), it's still a /16 rangeblock affecting over 65,000 IPs. Let me see what I can do with the edit filter instead. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:55, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Sorry for the slow response, twas dinner time at the Neutralhomer household. Forgot about the 4.226 IP, yeah that would cause some problems. "(Deletion log); 18:39 . . NawlinWiki (talk | contribs) changed revision visibility of User:NawlinWiki/Talk:Ctrl+Alt+Del: removed content for 1 revision (Potentially libelous/defamatory)"

In the future, could you please manage your actions in a way that doesn't spam my watchlist with dozens of these changes that I can't even see asside from the notification, if at all possible? It's kinda brain-hurting.

Thankie. Human.v2.0 (talk) 23:06, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • That was a one-time project unlikely to be repeated. NawlinWiki (talk) 23:28, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm seeing a lot of "changed revision visibility" on other articles on my watchlist as well. Frankly, I'm not even familiar with this policy/function, how long has that been a practice? It is rather confusing to see a list of invisible edits. For instance, this latest one refers to Doctor Who and the related talk page, and I do not recall seeing a "Purely disruptive material" edit on those recently, unless you jumped on in in the past however many minutes. Just curious here. Human.v2.0 (talk) 20:22, 7 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:REVDEL. I'm in the process of removing a lot of abusive edit summaries left over a period of about a year by a single long-term vandal. I should be finished in the next day or two, and you aren't likely to see large numbers of these after that. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:26, 7 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Aahh, ok. Like I said, hadn't seen that feature before. Human.v2.0 (talk) 20:32, 7 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit of yours to the article Doing business in Denmark has an edit summary that appears to be inaccurate. The Warrior Song

Hi

The page I attempted to create several months ago was deleted apparently because it wasn't "noteworthy enough" to merit a wiki entry.

The song has now been adopted by the second largest Military Charity in the US (Warrior Legacy Foundation) as its official theme song, is getting radio airplay in several markets across the US, Has been played at several NHL and NFL sporting events (during halftime), has been distributed (by request) to over 100,000 current and former members of the US military (including 20,000 employees of the DoD, NASA, DHS, FBI, CIA and NSA), and has sold over twenty thousand copies through iTunes. In addition, it has raised an additional 10,000 dollars for charity through direct web sales, which, along with all previous monies raised from the sale of the song, have been donated to the Armed Forces Relief Trust. Incidentally, a Google search of "The Warrior Song" or "Warrior Song" will bring up this song first, and yield at least four such results ranked higher than Scandal's "The Warrior", and Kid Rock's National Guard Song "Warrior".

Hopefully now it can be considered "noteworthy enough" to merit a page on Wikipedia. I would like to recreate it, but do not know how to do so once its been deleted.

Can you please advise?

Echosonic (talk) 21:52, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Can you cite any reliable independent sources (i.e., not the song's author's themselves or their website) to support these claims of notability? See WP:V. If so, please try drafting the article in your userspace, say, at User:Echosonic/Warrior Song - let me know when you've done that, and I'll take a look. Can you undelete Jennifer Josy please?

Hi! We had both carried out actions on the article at the same time. Just after I declined deletion of the article (not a candidate for speedy deletion as notability is asserted, albeit unreferenced), you deleted it! Would it be possible to undelete it, as under the guidelines of CSD:A7, it isn't legible for speedy deletion? This will give it a chance to improve, or at the very least allow peer review at AFD. Thanks! Stephen! Coming... 09:30, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can you undelete Chicago Catz please?

Hi! I declined the speedy deletion of this page but you deleted it! Please undelete it, as under the guidelines of CSD:A7, it isn't elegible for speedy deletion as the band meets criteria number 10 of the WP:NM, as stated there: "10. Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a notable compilation album, etc. Please refer to the movie The Guardian http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0406816/fullcredits where the band was featured in the movie as well as the movie Holes http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0311289/soundtrack. I need a chance to improve the article as well but no time was given for this. Thank YouJazzfann (talk) 18:51, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Those sources weren't mentioned in the article. Nevertheless, I've undeleted and replaced the speedy delete tag with a prod tag. Please add the sources and edit the article for neutrality (right now, it reads like a long PR piece) before removing the prod tag. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 19:04, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you NawlinWiki for restoring the page...I have added the above mentioned sources (the movie references) under the "media" header in the article and currently re-writing the article to make it more encyclopedic, Wiki-fied and to address the neutrality issue. This should be complete within the 7-day period allotted to me by the Prod notice. Thanks again for your consideration in giving me time to correct the article.Jazzfann (talk) 21:41, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How can you delete an article that even is not written to end?

How can you erase an article that is even not ready yet? This is barefaced! This artcile is written in the German Wiki, French Wiki and Turkish Wiki. So why should be any problem to go on writing it in english? This group is one of the important attestors that German-Turkish culture has more to exhibit than hip-hop. There are cross-references (although not even ready indicated, there are (were) cross-links to other langued Wikis! There were enough criteria not to delete these articles. I'm going to recreate this.

THE WHOLE TEXT IS GONE. I'm really angry! This is BAREFACE!

I'm really thinking of reporting that! The whole work of today is gone, and not saved. This would even not happen in a "German" Wikipedia (No. 1 in deleting). Unbelievable!

Now tell me how to recreate the old, original text, the article is recreated but with a stupid small piece. Where is the rest? :-((( Alabay (talk) 15:38, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Have you considered you might want to complete it first before publishing? Hell In A Bucket (talk) 15:39, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I had saved the text in a state that was not perfectly adapted, but the complete adaptation I can only do in Wkipedia itself (seeing what is named different in English than in German). So how can one tell something about sigificance, if an article is written since years in three Wikipedias (de, fr, tr)? I Saved the text to not lose it, now I lost everything. I'm really embarrassed. Is there any ombudsman? Alabay (talk) 15:54, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Here we start with a page such as User/Alaby/insertarticlenamehere and then you can work on it in peace until it's ready to go to mainspace. I'm sure Nawlin will userfy it if you ask. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 15:58, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Alabay, not Alaby. Okay, I've managed to make this: <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Alabay/The_Trial_(group)>. Can you "userfy" this (I haven't found that in my translating programm :-) ). Big problem: all other The Trial Wiki pages show an english link now :-( So please, let's quickly add this in a way that is acceptable. Alabay (talk) 16:33, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

NawlinWiki, I still think it was not alright to simply delete an article without any waning! Could you be so kind to check, if <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Alabay/The_Trial_(group)> fits your expectations? I've collected accurate. It is very annoying that the whole other Trial Wikis now have an English link going to nowhere. The only positive point is, that this article is, I guess, the only one with such references. Maybe one can add these to the other Wikis, too, later on. I would be pleased, if you could de-userfy the article and put it to its appropriate place. Thanks in advance. Alabay (talk) 18:25, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Looks good - I've moved it to The Trial (band). Sorry you were upset about the deletion, but we get probably 100 articles on bands every day here - if we didn't enforce WP:MUSIC and WP:V with respect to bands, we'd be overwhelmed. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:07, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much! No, my problem was not that the page was scrutinized, but that this happened without any warning, while constructing the whole thing. The next days I'll try to recollect all the categories, they are lost, too ... Alabay (talk) 20:00, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi NawlinWiki, I have had the oppotunity to read the article. I wonder why you don't like it. It is a translation of the german article (with better English that mine would have been). There are all steps well cited by reliable sources, of course, some of them are in German. Would you please be so kind and tell me, what part of the article you do not like, so that I can change it? On reflection, I guess it's OK. I've moved it back to article space and fixed the categories. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:19, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi NawlinWiki, you seem to have deleted the above article which I authored. On the talk page, I gave some notability examples and was in the process of gathering some more references when the page was deleted. I was going to list the publications that the site has been quoted in and some site statistics etc, but just wanted to check that I wasn't wasting my time before I do this as I wouldn't want to spend a lot of time doing this if the page would just get deleted again. The web site is listed in the list of music databases and is a notable source on many external sites (and on several Wikipedia pages) where people are discussing the greatest albums of all time and/or the best albums of a year or decade. The site also has a lot of Google "sitelinks" listed on the Google search results which Wikipedia Wikipedia:WEB says "provide evidence of site importance and credibility." I'm not sure what else I can do to prove notability, but there are many other sites on Wikipedia with far less notability than BEA. I'd like to work with you to get the page published, so please don't take the above as criticism, because it is not. (Jgianni (talk) 16:47, 28 July 2010 (UTC))[reply]

  • Fair enough. I will restore - please add the references that you refer to above. NawlinWiki (talk) 18:29, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm only doing the last couple of months or so (the ones that would show up on the first page of the history). Between the edit filters, which make him use more and more absurd (and less recognizable) variations, and a policy going forward of erasing these edits as soon as they're made, he won't have the pleasure of being able to look at his handiwork. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:19, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It does seems a waste of quality contributors time to have to spend resisting the valueless additions of one policy violating person . Issues like this make me support named and verified accounts only and now that the encyclopedia is written more or less the main subjects and really only needs updating and tweaking, under such circumstances we could easily leave behind the anyone can edit position. Off2riorob (talk) 19:55, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's something for discussion elsewhere -- in the meantime, it took me about 1 hour to erase 3 months' worth of Runtshit edits. It's a lot easier for me than it must be for him. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:56, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

...for taking care of the Anderson Cooper talk page edit summaries. I was seeking advice on rev/del-ing the edit summaries when I saw you had done the deed. I realize I've been over-cautious in executing the rev/del, but I'm still new and learning. Thanks for taking up my slack. Tiderolls 01:03, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Index.html or Webserver directory index

The Index.html redirect page almost always has ranked 8 in traffic on en.wikipedia.org [10] but under the current name, Webserver directory index, it doesn't have any kind of rank at all [11]. The reason I am writing this here is because I see you have been doing this in favor of this :) Would you like to reconsider your action? Cheers, Gulmammad | talk 01:13, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm not sure what you want me to reconsider. If you want to move the primary page back to index.html, please discuss that on the article talk page and get consensus. If and when you do, let me know and I'll move the page. NawlinWiki (talk) 01:15, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • I actually don't intend to do anything with that article. I've just come across the fact and wanted to drop a line here. Gulmammad | talk 01:20, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Aw man!

I wanted so very much to delete Canadian history edit with a G11 reason of 'Canadian history delete', but you beat me to it. :( Syrthiss (talk) 11:59, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Health Management Resources

I am copying what I wrote the other day in response to your edit. I'm guessing you did not see it as I had not heard back. Thanks for your response.

The first 2 references (1,2) are books produced by the government - not brochures and not the HMR website or HMR produced. You can check out some of the following independent references to HMR. Additionally, we publish a lot of research and contribute to many other studies done by well-known university researchers (who publish their results in medical journals) and NIH (such as the LookAHEAD study). Revdel request on Jermaine Dupri

Could you please revdel this edit? It came in a string of 6-7 vandalism edits but I think this is the only one that falls under RD2. Also, if there is a noticeboard for these sort of requests please let me know. Thanks! —KuyaBriBriTalk 16:59, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Done - as far as I know, there's not a request board. NawlinWiki (talk) 17:37, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple notices on Gilad Atzmon

How long will we keep getting these multiple "changed revision visibility of Gilad Atzmon: removed content for 1 revision (RD2: Grossly insulting, degrading, or offensive material)" notices in Watch List. I assume it's because of all the stupid vandalism in the past, but it does clog up ones Watch List. Thanks. CarolMooreDC (talk) 03:30, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

    • I wish I could do all of them at once, but the software isn't configured for that. I've gone back about 3 months now, so that's probably enough to keep anyone from finding any of it unless they look really hard. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 04:04, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Carol, do you know about the enhanced recent changes option, which can be used to group together all changes to each page on your watchlist? On your watchlist, probably only Gilad Atzmon is affected by this activity; I have dozens which are similarly being purged, and without this option I would be in despair! And all of these deletions appear under a separate "Deletion Log" tag, not under the relevant article, so I can choose to ignore them altogether. RolandR (talk) 20:19, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

HMR

I am trying to follow up on the notability alert you put on the page. Please read my previous posts and respond. Did you want me to add the references to the article? I am not sure how to remove this alert without your response but the alert is not accurate. Thanks. Weightdoc (talk) 15:41, 30 July 2010 (UTC)WeightDoc[reply]

Lone Survivor Foundation

Would like to know why LSF was speedily deleted....was working on fixing errors, and was just notified that it was tagged for deletion. Kimberly 479 (talk) 23:37, 30 July 2010 (UTC)kfranklin 479Kimberly 479 (talk) 23:37, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, apart from the advertising issues (which could have been fixed), this is a month-old foundation with nothing in the article to indicate that it meets or could meet the notability standards of WP:ORG. If you can find significant coverage by third-party sources (see WP:V) to show notability, let me know and I'll take a look. NawlinWiki (talk) 23:39, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I'll find further coverage to support the foundation. Kimberly 479 (talk) 23:42, 30 July 2010 (UTC)kimberly 479Kimberly 479 (talk) 23:42, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
