Username concerns

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. However, I noticed that your username (The shpa) may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because is the name of a society, and you've been adding links to their website to articles. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 04:28, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The shpa (talk) 05:09, 2 June 2011 (UTC)I am trying to put up information on behalf of my employer which aims to give information on the society (not advertising, impartial etc). Can I change my username instead?[reply]

Yes—see the link above for directions. You could also just create an account, but you will still have a conflict of interest regarding your employer even with the new username. —C.Fred (talk) 05:12, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add advertising or inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.--Hu12 (talk) 16:23, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
