For my wikipedia assignment I plan on looking into the subject of natural slavery through Aristotle's research. The wikipedia page for "Natural Slavery" is concise and well written, but very surface level. The page simply synthesizes his views and opinions of natural slavery in one paragraph, including one lengthy quote from Aristotle's "Politics". I am planning on looking at "Politics" and elaborating on his view points, as well as definitions. I essentially want to discuss what Aristotle defines as a "natural slave". What makes someone a natural slave? Does natural slavery lead to physical slavery? Is slavery ethical? These are the questions I want to tackle.

The main focus for this article will be on how Aristotle defines and views natural slavery. I will be basing my research and writings around Joseph Karbowski's article "Aristotle's Scientific Inquiry into Natural Slavery". Karbowski does an excellent job of explaining Aristotle's "breakdown" of the natural slave. The natural slave is defined in two parts, the being and the doing. Karbowski explains the "constructive phase" of natural slavery where we see what characteristics make up a slave. Next Karbowski explains the "application phase" where we see how a slave interacts with their environment. Karbowski's writings are very well written, concise, and easy to digest, so I think it would be perfect to base some simple explanations of Aristotle's natural slavery around his writings. I plan on synthesizing Aristotle's writings in "Politics" explaining what makes him define a slave. I hope to do this in a clear and concise manner, and using Karbowski's writings as a type of guideline will really bring in some insight and scholarly viewpoints. Im interested in elaborating on these subjects, mainly because Aristotle's work is very influential to philosophy to this day, and I think it should be conversed about and researched on wikipedia for many people to see. This particular subject is very sensitive and controversial, and I think bringing this information to light will help people form stronger and more informed opinions. [1]
