The Wikipedia:Apology essay says "it is easier to demand an apology than to deliver one". I award Nascar1996 this barnstar for being willing to apologise and to have not let his mistakes stop him continuing to contribute to Wikipedia. Camaron · Christopher · talk 20:32, 19 February 2010 (UTC) |

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Astatine, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. - Looks like someone already reverted the cussing before you. Your edit readded the cussing. Be careful next time. Since you were assuming good faith, your edit does not constitute vandalism because of an error. I will report a false-positive to Airplaneman. Your request for rollback
Hi Nascar1996/Archive 1. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Tiptoety talk 04:46, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Whois
Read about {{Whois}} at Template:Whois. Basically, it is added to the top of the talk pages for disruptive IPs in case someone wants to report abuse from that IP to the Internet provider. Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:15, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- What if the vandalising editer used the same computer as a good editer? Nascar1996 01:18, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- I'm going to assume that you and your cousin share the same computer, right? Well, I don't really know how that whole thing would work. I've never heard of anyone being reported, and most of the time when that happens, the report is ignored. Maybe you should just tell your cousin to never edit/vandalize Wikipedia? If you're really worried about it, you should ask an admin or someone who is more knowledgeable on this subject matter. Sorry for the lack of information. Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:26, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Header of Chad Knaus
The lead should provide an overview of the article. Currently it doesn't mention his early career and what steps he took to become a professional driver - to properly summarize the article in the lead you should write it in roughly the same chronology as the article. It's always a good idea to look to articles of good quality on a similar topic to get inspiration on how to structure an article - A. J. Foyt IV for example, where the lead summarizes the career. Best regards Hekerui (talk) 23:42, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- He is a crew chief not a driver and yes I know that the article is not properly wrote, but I am still finishing school. Also I am not a good writer.Thank You for helping. — Nascar1996 01:02, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Personal information of a minor
Hello. Wikipedia has policies against having people who are minors in their local jurisdiction or the United States (which is the same in your case) from releasing certain identifiable information, including age. Nascar1996, you do not understand. I am not trying to start a flame war or anything (and I am not trying to spam) but, I (and many other people) am infuriated by the fact that the entire AdventureQuest Worlds page has been delete/blanked by a verified member of the Wikipedia team for no apparent reason!
- All I ask is for someone to here me out on the 'unfairness' of the situation at hand.

No Nascar1996, you still do not understand! That article was NOT an add! It was a page that had useful information regarding the game AdventureQuest Worlds. I was NOT an add! I mean seriously, what I don't understand, is that there are many articles about Online games, but for some reason, the Wikipedia staff thought that this preticular article was an AD! 92.25.69.124 (talk) 15:56, 9 March 2010 (UTC)92.25.69.124 You know what Nascar1996, I give up. This user (who created the page) blanked the page, and instead of reverting him and warning him, you could have just applied the {{db-author}} tag. When newer users blank pages they create, they are really just trying to delete it in good faith. This is the second time this has happened with you, so I'm just letting you know now. Why?
Why is this [1] considered "unconstructive"? It's true. He wouldn't have gone out without his helmet or gloves if he knew HAL would just lock him out. Hence his lack of realization that HAL had committed murder.
I am sorry but I do not understand. The sentence is grammatically correct and HAL is supposed to be in all caps. Have you ever seen this movie? Or are you just building up your editing statistics by reverting any new contributions that appear wrong based on a 3-second viewing? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.27.9.20 (talk) 02:42, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
HAL is supposed to be in all caps. Try searching HAL 9000. The character is called "HAL", which is both a proper name and an acronym. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.27.9.20 (talk) 02:47, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Welch elm school.jpg
A tag has been placed on File:Welch elm school.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File source problem with File:Cokecola.png
Thanks for uploading File:Cokecola.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:26, 16 March 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Camaron · Christopher · talk 19:26, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Ok and the deletion template is on it again. --Nascar1996 20:06, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- The addition of a fair use rationale is good, however all images uploaded must have a specific source given, and just giving the name of the article its for is not always enough. A web link to the place where the image was from originally is best, while naming an organisation is also okay. The claimed source for this image does not make sense as it is the name of a race, and you can't obtain an image from a race. Please give the specific website where the image was from originally. 2010 Food City 500 peer review at GA level
I have done a peer review of the article and placed improvements on the talk page that I think should be done before you nominated it for GA. I thought we had agreed to wait until my review was done; but no worries since my GA nominations on NASCAR topics have usually take at least a month. You've done a great job despite the grim look of my review - I needed to be nitpicky to ensure it passes. Royalbroil 13:40, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
- Yes I have added a reference and I also have removed a sentence because I know I wouldn't be able to find information to that topic. --Nascar1996 13:43, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

- No you can't use this image. I WISH! It's close but no cigar. Check out the lower right hand corner where it says "Some rights reserved". There's a dollar sign with a cross canceling it out. That means non-commercial use - which is not allowed. I tried to get Bristol Motor Speedway to remove the non-commercial on a different image but didn't succeed - you can always try! GA reviewing
I believe that you shouldn't be reviewing yet. You need to see how the entire process works first and you're jumping the gun. I understand that you're gung ho. You reviewed Park Grill and failed it immediately. GA reviewing is not an immediate pass/fail except in absolutely terrible conditions and this article is decent and relatively close to meeting the standards - even by your own opinion. You need to give the other person some time to implement your improvements first. I think you should restore it to the GA nominations list and let someone else tackle it. Would you mind running things like this past someone experienced like me for the time being until you get more seasoned? I'm happy to help. Royalbroil 14:09, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

The article is pretty close to Good Article status but there are just a few problems that need to be ironed out, so I have placed it on hold for seven days to allow you to address the comments. Cheers, BigDom 21:16, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
- Just added one final comment about referencing that needs to be addressed before I can pass it as a GA. Cheers, BigDom 08:07, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

The author blanked the content, so rather than reversing that operation you assume that the author requests deletion--see Template:Db-author. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 01:46, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
- I was just following the rule by warning editors if they remove the speedy deletion template in which the user did. --Nascar1996 01:48, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
- Right. But given that we interpret an author's blanking as requesting deletion it is only fitting that we don't call such an act vandalism, which is why I removed your warning. After all, it is perfectly possible that they know that we regard blanking as such. Hope this helps. Drmies (talk) 01:59, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
- It does, but maybe WP can add something easier to verify the creator of an article. --Nascar1996 02:01, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

NASCAR race infoboxes
Hello, Nascar1996. I was looking at the infoboxes of NASCAR articles, and I was wondering if the previous race should be added along with the next race. What do you think? ~NERDYSCIENCEDUDE (✉ message • changes) 03:54, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
- I believe they shoud; could you and me add those boxes that Jimmie Johnson has at the end. Except they'd have to be involving races though. --Nascar1996 04:07, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
- I added the previous races to all of the infoboxes. ~NERDYSCIENCEDUDE (✉ message • changes) 04:52, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
- I can't understand how you guys keep getting those quick reviews for GA - good for you! I like the idea of infoboxes for the bottom of articles to the previous and next race - they're call navigation boxes or navigation infoboxes. This discussion should be happening at WikiProject NASCAR, which I assume you both have joined by now. On a related item - I see that you keep adding infobox tables at the top of the articles. I think that one of you should develop an infobox template where someone can just fill in the fields instead of repeating the whole long table. Another reason is to make it easy to make a change to the layout - maybe a change in the series or something like that. Just think how hard it would be to find and fix a large number of articles, instead of changing one template!
- I added the previous races to all of the infoboxes. ~NERDYSCIENCEDUDE (✉ message • changes) 04:52, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
- I'm just too busy to keep doing GA peer reviews on every week's race. I'm not able to get anything else done in here - and my time is getting even more limited now that the summer racing season is just starting here in Wisconsin. I track chase to tracks on the eastern side of the state - 45 events last year at 33 tracks. I went to 7 events at 7 tracks so far this year including 5 during the much slower-paced ice racing season in Jan/Feb. I'm excited to go to the Nationwide race at Road America - so expect pictures of all teams at the event in late June. My new telephoto lens has been working GREAT! I used it to get AWESOME shots of motocross jumping last evening. Last years I saw one day of the SCCA National championships at RA. It rained for one event and it made for an interesting race - see who can handle driving carefully yet fast in the bad conditions. Does NASCAR still have rain tires on road courses or did they scrap the idea in favor of delaying the race until another day? Royalbroil 12:27, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thank You Nerdy Science Dude for adding those. --Nascar1996 13:52, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

- Yes, I believe that would be a great idea Royalbroil. If you don't want to make peer reviews for the NASCAR races, no one is going to make you do it. Of course I would like to get as many of my creations to GA status, but that can wait. I'm so happy that your going the the first NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Road America. Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you.
And I agree that the main page for the race should be at the general "Your Name Here" title, with the year specific pages containing the contest winner's name. --Wean0r (talk) 21:16, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

- I don't understand - why did you add this article to Category:Former NASCAR races? If you read the description for the category, that category exists for races which aren't on the current schedule. Please explain. Please reply (if needed) here instead of having a fragmented discussion. Royalbroil 04:25, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- I misunderstood the description, and I removed it from all 2010 races. There needs to be a category for Former Sporting Events. --Nascar1996 12:36, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
- Why? There are few articles on upcoming races because of WP:CRYSTAL. Having a huge group of articles from various seasons isn't very helpful anyhow. The way to group them is to use a season category like Category:2010 in NASCAR - or even better create Category:2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races with parent categories Category:2010 in NASCAR and new category Category:NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races by season (which would be a year grouping under Category:NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races)). Many of these year groupings already exist for the images at Commons. Do these changes sound reasonable to you? Royalbroil 12:51, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
- LI probably won't because I may be on a long wikibreak, or I may even retire. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. --Nascar1996 02:04, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Yahoo! and poles
Two things. First, poles are only officially recorded by winning qualifying. Starting first because qualifying is canceled does count, Yahoo! is wrong there. Second, Yahoo! tends to be unreliable for some stats. Poles is one as mentioned above, since Yahoo! counts every time the driver started the race in first place. Another is career average start and finish; for that Yahoo! averages all of the yearly averages and calls it the career average, which won't work in most cases. Personally the only stat I use Yahoo! for is winnings; that seems to match NASCAR.com (except NASCAR.com rounds it off to the nearest $10 while Yahoo! rounds to the nearest $1). --Wean0r (talk) 01:57, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- Well, okay, but I still think something should be recorded about how many times he started 1st. --Nascar1996 19:40, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
Wanganui (Whanganui) page
Dear MR Nascar 1996.
The other day you blocked me for 31 hours for editing the post Whanganui. I was editing it to change a lot of it's spelling to the more correct way "Wanganui". Please appreciate that "Wanganui" is the most common way spelt by almost all people from Wanganui and New Zealand and the spelling with an H is not correct. I would like to say i believe my blocking was unjust as i was just trying to constructivley edit the page to correct it's spelling of this great town to it's offical and original spelling Wanganui. As I take you are an American with the name Nascar, i am sure you are unfamiliar with Wanganui and it's spelling so please appreciate the fact that Wanganui is the correct way to spell the town and i was just correcting that. I am requesting you please unblock me and allow for me to correct the errors on the Whanganui page or at least give the spelling Wanganui equal status with it's other name with the H. Please correct me if i am wrong but i dont think you have been to Wanganui so i think being a local and somewhat older that the year 1996 I have more knowledge on the matter. I look forward to hearing your response soon.
Many kind regards

Hi, this is to let you know that your GA nomination 2010 Showtime Southern 500 passed and is now a GA. Congratulations! Xtzou (Talk) 20:06, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, I have been waiting for a while. --Nascar1996 20:08, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
WHY?
I have no idea who you are, but you keep reverting my Wikipedia edit on Jodio Loco Sucio. You say it is not constructive. However, it is in fact the true translation. I used Google Translate for the literal meaning, and I happen to be from the Dominican Republic, so not only do I speak the same language as the people who named the band, I also understand the dialect the language is spoken in. It is constructive if it is both 1)the truth and 2)relevant to the topic at hand, meaning my edit is constructive. So, I ask of you to please stop reverting my edit because of the sole reason that you feel it is nonconstructive.
Thank You, User Mcg182m —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.94.124.44 (talk) 01:53, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- I find it not appropriate on Wikipedia. That is the only reason.--Nascar1996 02:06, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi, 2010 Autism Speaks 400 has been passed as GA. Congratulations! Best wishes, Xtzou (Talk) 13:37, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

I added some comments, the most important being that you should close the peer review nominate it right away for Good Article because it's ready. Races at the 2 mile cookie cutters were the first ones that I stopped watching because they're boring like this race looked like. Great job with the article! I see that were able to greatly improve on your writing skills since I've last looked at one of your articles! Royalbroil 23:58, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, if you want to see some of my most recent writing, go to 2010 Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500, and if you didn't know I also created the race infobox which was changed recently. --Nascar1996 00:36, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
Grab some glory, and a barnstar
Hi, I'd like to invite you to participate in the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. In May, about 30 editors helped remove the {{copyedit}} tag from 1175 articles. The backlog is still over 7500 articles, and extends back to the beginning of 2008! We really need your help to reduce it. Copyediting just a couple articles can qualify you for a barnstar. Serious copyeditors can win prestigious and exclusive rewards. See the event page for more information. And thanks for your consideration. mono 00:51, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- I would, but I am to busy to do anything until December. Sorry. :( --Nascar1996 03:25, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
DYK for 2010 Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500
On June 17, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article 2010 Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Image problem
You forgot to complete the fair-use rationale for File:NASCAR game 2001.jpg that you recently uploaded. There are several missing fields. Thanks ww2censor (talk) 19:45, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
- I added the description and the Purpose of use; is there anything else? --Nascar1996 19:51, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
- It looks reasonable though you could fill in the other fields, such as low resolution would be a Yes, etc. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 19:59, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
- I added everything else exept for the Replacable part. So I can now remove the CFD tag? --Nascar1996 20:03, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
- I have removed the tag. --Nascar1996 (sign) 01:29, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Speedy Removal on a true fact and a fix on Robby Gordon
Dude, Why? All I'm trying is to write the truth and it had an error on Robby Gordon's link and why did you have to do a speedy undo? Talladega87 (talk) 20:15, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, I thought where I am busy it would be faster to undo it. It would be better it you put the writing in the background section and not the race section. I didn't see the link fixing. Sorry ~ Nascar1996 (sign) 20:19, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Re: Featured list
The main thing I see is that the lead needs to be referenced and developed (the opposite of articles basically; article leads shouldn't have refs, list leads have to). It's good so far, just add in some more notes like you have in the third paragraph (i.e. which make has the most wins, etc.). The table looks good. If you can add images into the sections with tables without causing any issues, that would help greatly. List of Formula One Grand Prix winners is a decent list to look over if you need further guidance (there are surprisingly few motorsport featured lists, that's probably the best of them). Once you get it to where you think it's good, best thing is to just go for it and hope for the best. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 23:38, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of 2011 in NASCAR, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: 2010 in NASCAR. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 04:59, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Portal:West Virginia/Fact
Hello Nascar1996. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Portal:West Virginia/Fact to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 21:05, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, but there is no need for the article. --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 21:06, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
- I understand, but that's not a valid reason under WP:CSD. (shrugs) — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 21:09, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

The information that was presented was factual and historic in my re-editing of said item, and represents the North American broadcasts. If you only took the time to look up "2010 Coke Zero 400 in 3-D" on Google, there was factual information. I reverted to my edit as a result. Also, as far as the satellite radio, it is in North America as well. I have been doing this on the NASCAR sections for some time now and it irks me when someone reverts an edit that I worked hard on. As a result, I must warn you the next time you pull something like this, I will have no choice but to deliver a vandalism warning and report you to a mod. End of story. NoseNuggets (talk) 10:46 PM US EDT June 29 2010.
- I disagree with you. We have a international audience here and they will not know wat Times Warner Cable Television is. So I believe it should be reverted back, but first I will talk to an administrator . --Nascar1996 Contribs / Tasks 02:58, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- I pointed out in a rewrite that the 3-D telecast is being made available only in the United States and on the NASCAR.com web site, DirecTV and the previously mentioned cable systems. No revertion needed, thank you as this is a historic telecast in the USA, and added footnotes for that information. BTW, where are you from? NoseNuggets (talk) 9:18 AM US EDT June 30 2010.
- This was a misuse of rollback, as NoseNuggets made the edits in good-faith. Anyway, the 3D broadcast fact should stay in the article, and it would also probably make a great DYK hook once the race is complete. ~NerdyScienceDude (✉ • ✐ • ✍) 13:48, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
