Alexander Cozens & references[edit]

Just a quick head's up: if you amend the substance of a paragraph, you should always take care to amend the referencing of the paragraph.

In Alexander Cozens, here, you have changed the "is a son of" to "the legend has it" but left the reference as was, which means to the neutral reader, the DNB is claiming that his parentage is a legend, whereas in fact the DNB regards it as fact.

The correct thing to do would have been to introduce a new reference for the "legend" modification, leaving the remainder of the paragraph referenced to the DNB.

Can I put you on the spot and ask exactly what is the source of your modification? I'm not disputing the amendment, merely wishing to know what the citation is. --Tagishsimon (talk) 17:25, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My source is Jean-Claude Lebensztejn's L'art de la tache: Introduction a la Nouvelle methode d'Alexander Cozens, Paris, 1990, one of the most reliable (and complete) sources on the subject... I've just inserted the reference, as you suggested.
