Jeff Dunham[edit]

Hi. Please do not add unsourced personal observations or speculation on pop cultural references to articles, as you did with these edits to Jeff Dunham, as this violates Wikipedia's policies of Verifiability, No Original Research, and WP:SYNTH. Wikipedia requires that all material added to articles be accompanied by reliable, verifiable sources explicitly cited in the text in the form of an inline citation, which you can learn to make here. With regard to material about the content of fiction that is evaluative, analytical or interpretive, the source must be a secondary source, and it must explicitly mention the information in relation to the work in question. Relying instead on personal observation or interpretation is original research, and using sources to form original conclusions not explicitly in those sources is synthesis, which is a form of original research. In addition, trivial information that is not salient or relevant enough to be incorporated into the major sections of an article should not be included, as per WP:TRIVIA. In general, Wikipedia is not an appropriate place to offer personal corrections to material in comedy acts that is clearly intended as humor, and not to be taken literally.

Lastly, here are a few tips that will make your editing go more smoothly:

  • We do not censor words like shit. See WP:CENSOR.
  • Proper nouns like Yiddish are capitalized.
  • Spaces go in between words.

If you have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 05:54, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Boone County Sheriff's patch.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Boone County Sheriff's patch.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. A tag has been placed on Terence Hatton requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

March 2014[edit]

Information icon In a recent edit to the page Prince George of Cambridge, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. RGloucester 20:46, 16 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

May 2015[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Florence Fire/EMS Department. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Please review WP:UNSOURCED and WP:NOTASTATSBOOK before you simply revert appropriate edits. Florence Fire/EMS Department[edit]

Hello. I try my very best to assume WP:GF, but please explain your reversion of edits on Florence Fire/EMS Department? You removed properly sourced and cited content as well as a properly formatted infobox. What was your rationale for this? If the IAFF number is incorrect, as you indicated in one of your edits, this can be corrected without reverting the rest of the edits. --Zackmann08 (talk) 20:17, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Because your information was wrong. The Florence Fire/EMS Department has no water Tenders. The information may have been properly sourced, but the information was incorrect. It wasn't just the IAFF Number, it was apparatus designations (Engine 102, not Quint-Engine 102) and Car 130 (Shift Commander) was completely removed. In addition, retired apparatus was removed when sourced. I reverted the rest of the edits because information was either wrong, or completely missing. I spent hours trying to build a page with information I knew to be correct. Mr305worldwide (talk) 20:40, 19 May 2015 (UTC)Mr305worldwide(talk)[reply]

I will address these one by one...
  • The retired apparatus has no place on the page as Wikipedia is not a stats book.
  • The tender was a typo and thank you for catching it! That was supposed to be 1 HazMat not 1 Tender.
  • The Engines are quints and I wanted to designate that, but you are correct that their proper designation is just Engine not Quint-Engine. I changed it so that they now says "Engine 102 (Quint)" which should explain that it is referred to as an engine but is in fact a quint. This is a very common problem. Many departments refer to their Tower Ladders/Platform Ladders as simply "Truck #" or "Ladder #". To denote that it is in fact a platform we add that info into the table.
  • Car 130 was not "completely removed"... It was simply changed to say Shift Commander. Again, this is common practice across fire department pages. It doesn't really help anyone to know what car they are riding it... We want to know who that person is and who they are is the shift commander.
  • You need to be careful about Wikipedia:Original research. "Information I knew to be correct" is great, but if it is not sourced it doesn't help.

The file File:Sierra Leone Royal Standard.svg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned, unlikely to be useful because better versions are available (e.g. File:Royal Standard of Sierra Leone.svg)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~ Rob13Talk 15:11, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You cannot request a third opinion when there has been no discussion on the talk page. When someone reverts your edit, you are supposed to gain consensus for it on the talk page. See WP:BRD.
