The Last Olympian

I saw your post in the project talk page. Point is, we will watch out for sales figures and records but the problem lies in the Plot. I am from India and do not know when the book is releasing here (I know WP is not a forum, but please email me if you do). Hopefully, one of you will get hold of the book and start improving the article. All the best. Hopefully, it will become a GA-class article. I will help you out as much as I can. TLO has an amazing number of edits before its publication (I myself have 45 edits to it and know that you have even more) and will become a huge battlefield in the few months after its publication. So watch out and do your best to protect the article from getting excessive vandalism. And keep in mind the three revert rule which you and I came so close to violating that day when I suggested the foundation of PJTF. Happy editing.Pmlinediter  Talk 12:00, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

India you say? Hmm, not sure about that I already have my copy preordered and will be picking it up as soon as it's released. I haven't really got to contribute to the article yet but I will be starting as soon as possible.

Check this URL but I'm not sure it will help. See ya on the battlefield.--(NGG) 00:34, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Edit summaries

Usually I do, but is it necessary for undoing vandalism edits? Also, how are you today? - Nite Owl II 21:04, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm good man. Just trying to upload covers for WP:VG and premote a few article I've been working on for a while. But try to always use edit summaries, they'll help you in the future.--(NGG) 21:06, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Can do ;) - Nite Owl II 21:09, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Need an opinion

Could you take a look here? Some of the page is formatted in those tables, and the rest is just a list. I'm gonna start merging in List of Super Nintendo Entertainment System emulators and List of Nintendo Entertainment System emulators, but I was thinking, shouldn't the whole article be consistent in how the lists are displayed? It looks kind of sloppy to have that at the start, and then a bunch of plain text, doesn't it? Lychosis T/C 21:17, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

I agree. Try making the whole article a big table. But if you plan to make it a FL, try making articles of all the red links(even if they have to be stubs). That will very much help the article.--(NGG) 21:21, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
That's a good idea. I'm not sure if I'd even be able to get this much information about most of the emulators on that list, though. Or, were you saying more like this? Lychosis T/C 21:30, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Well, if you click on some of the red links, you find alot of deletion logs that talk about how the subject is notable but just doesn't have alot of reliable sources. Your going to have to do some deep digging on Google and other search engines on info about these emulators. I suggest taking this to WP:VG to get help from a lot of editors. That article is going to take tedious and hard work. I'll try to find some time to help you but it's gonna be tough. The first problem is, the article is in need of some reliable sources. Most of those sources are websites I've never heard of and neither has Google or Wikipedia. Your gonna need some better sources. Like I said, I very busy on a lot of article but will find time to help you.--(NGG) 21:36, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
I think I will ask around there when I get a chance. What would we do about the ones that just don't have a reliable source? (By the way, how does this look, compared to the table on the page? I tried to clean it up a bit.) Lychosis T/C 21:44, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
For the ones without reliable sources, we will have to either remove their links or just remove their mention completely because they cant be supported.--(NGG) 21:46, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
As for the table in your sandbox, it's much cleaner and I suggest using that one over the one currently used.--(NGG) 21:47, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Mind taking another look? I threw together kind of a test page for the nintendo section. Can't look up the info for the tables now, due to restrictions because I'm at work. How does it look compared to the original page? Thanks in advance.  :) Lychosis T/C 22:05, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Dude, it looks great. I'm very tempted to start on that article right now lol. If I can find all the necessary sources for this article, I'll start working on it tonight.--(NGG) 22:10, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Cool, thanks! I did a bit of work on the big list, merged in the SNES list, and did some formatting changes (made subsections). Then I took another look at the NES list, and realized that it's going to be just about as time-consuming as the main list. I think a good few of them on the NES list might be non-notable emulators that were just added to the list with the thought that it was supposed to be a list of every NES emulator, though. Lychosis T/C 22:25, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm thinking of trimming down this, in order to bring it into line with the SNES table. Would you agree that the developer and license columns can be cut out? The info in the SNES one seems like it would be pretty managable for all of the console tables, I think. Lychosis T/C 22:33, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, busy writing synopsis for this article sorry talk later.--(NGG) 22:38, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Hope you don't mind, I tried to clean up what you had written a bit.  :) Lychosis T/C 02:13, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Re:The Last Olympian

NGG, I am sorry, but I won't be getting my copy of TLO till mid-May, so for that period of time, I won't attempt any edits to the synopsis. But I'll get reviews and sales figures. I suggest that you and Tatlolou focus on the Plot while I help out with the other sections. Best of luck. Pmlinediter  Talk 15:28, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I was the one who edited it out like a few days ago (so it wasn't really "awhile" ago), then saw you put it back in and someone had to edit it out explained it to you, I thought you were ignoring them and insisting on putting it in, there's a lot of school kids who like to edit things in they think is right without researching. Yes I do see the problem here. We just need globs of time to deal with that. I'm looking for an example of a good article about a book character. I can't seem to find one. I left my comments at the AFD page. Right now, I'm preparing for school so no time.--(NGG) 11:45, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Percy Jackson film

Do you have source for the Percy Jackson film being called The Lightning Thief? The latest articles from the film industry (such as this) say the title is just Percy Jackson. This is also what IMDb is calling it. - kollision (talk) 02:18, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

The movie is based on the book called The Lightning Thief. Seems like cold hard proof to me.--(NGG) 02:19, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
That is far from "cold hard proof" and is original research. [1][2][3][4] These recent articles from reliable sources all state that the current film title is just Percy Jackson. Yes, it is possible that it may change in the future but speculation does not belong on Wikipedia. And neither does original research. - kollision (talk) 02:36, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
I appreciate your knowledge of policies but if you have reliable sources that go against something I do, just do it. I hate it when people come to my talk page with policies and links. I'm more than aware the IMDB says Percy Jackson. I grabbed that link in the first place, I didn't use original research, I used common sense. Thanks :)--(NGG) 02:40, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Firstly, I was just asking if you had a source that said something different. I don't have every source, maybe you had something newer that said that it was called The Lightning Thief. Then you said what you said above, which demonstrated to me a lack of understanding of Wikipedia policy, so I gave you some links for further reading and to explain the things I mentioned in detail. I was just trying to help. By the way, what you did was original research (it was not based on a source and was an original thought). - kollision (talk) 03:17, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I believe we established that.--(NGG) 03:27, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Cover uploads

Hey noticed you have been doing a bit of cover uploads recently. Dont no if you have heard of this site but it it is very good for arcade games that are requesting a cover (or poster). They can be much better better then box art that is released years after the arcade game or a game title screen. arcadeflyers. Salavat (talk) 04:01, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Hey good to see that you have made use of the link, but if your uploading arcade flyers they should be tagged as {{non-free poster}} and have the category [[Category:Arcade flyer images|file name]] Salavat (talk) 15:25, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

The Lightning Thief

I've just noticed that you only edit on weekends. So, don't panic. You can work on the article over the next two weekends.

Out of curiosity, why don't you merge all the books in the series, and the author bio, into one article? Most of the content in The Lightening Thief applies to all the novels.

At the moment, the biggest problem is the lack of adequate sources. This isn't your fault. They just don't exist. Since Wikipedia doesn't allow original research, it is very hard to construct a GA when there are few sources.

As to your question about the various sections, simply look at other GA articles to get a feel for what a GA novel article should look like. Better still, look at an FA article.

The second problem is that the plot summary dominates the article. The plot summary should be the least important part. Cheers, Wassupwestcoast (talk) 05:21, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

The problems is if I melt everything into one, there will be alot of clutter and confusion. This is article is really hard to write. I would love to make like one big mega-article but it's going to be tough. I tried to design the article after Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell but this book just isn't as notable as that one. I do edit on weekdays just not as much.

Schedule for this week:

  • Monday: Squash
  • Tuesday: After school art and running
  • Wednesday: Flirt after school
  • Thursday: Concert and squash
  • Friday: Christian Go-go concert.

As you can see, I'm pretty busy, but I will be able to work on the article though. But anything you wish to help me with is greatly appreciated.--(NGG) 05:31, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Really, don't panic over this! Wikipedia is a hobby. There is no need to rush. Using Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell as an example is good. And, you are right. There are many more sources / references for that novel than for The Lightning Thief. You are limited to the sources that exist. Cheers, Wassupwestcoast (talk) 05:41, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Lol, I know what you mean man. I've just been working on multiple projects including The Last Olympian and Blue Dragon. But thanks for the encouragement.--(NGG) 05:43, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

The Lightning Thief GAN

Probably, this GAN is going to fail. I suggest we try to cleanup the article. When we think it is ready, we go for a peer review and try GAN again. Pmlinediter  Talk 11:40, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

I believe we can do it. He's giving us two weeks to do this man. The main problem is a lack of reliable sources. We need lots of them. We just have to dig deeper. In case you didn't know, I'm writing the article based on this article. Read that article to get a feel for what I'm trying to do.--(NGG) 11:47, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
I have downloaded the article to read it. I am now trying to fix minor issues which Kollision has pointed out. Pmlinediter  Talk 11:50, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

For most purposes (exception: some writing credits), IMDb is not a reliable source. Additionally, having a site listed under "External links" does not mean it is "cited". Thanks. - SummerPhD (talk) 14:02, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

The Lightning Thief audiobook

I have uploaded the cover of the audiobook of The Lightning Thief. Can you take a look at the article to check whether the placement of the image is correct? Pmlinediter  Talk 11:51, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

I have added several reviews to the article. Perhaps, you can take a look? Pmlinediter  Talk 13:19, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Okay I'll try to work on the article today. I've been busy with WP:VG Images and Blue Dragon but I'll take a shot at the article today including that tough little genre section. Cheers.--(NGG) 13:22, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
I would have edited the article today, but due to some sloppy performance by my ADSL connection, I really can't for I'm losing the Internet connection every minute. I so want to make The Lightning Thief a GA. Pmlinediter  Talk 13:34, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes, as do I. Sadly that may be as far as it goes. Theres just not enough info for the Lightning Thief. It sure get easier as we edit deeper in the series because they have gotten more attention than the Lightning Thief. So once we get The Lightning Thief to GA, we should go right to work on The Sea of Monsters.--(NGG) 13:40, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Hey, you are echoing my thoughts. I was about to suggest this. Pmlinediter  Talk 13:42, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Lol, great minds think alike I guess lol. Anyway, what we need to do now is study. As much as I hate studying, we need to study some FA and GA novel articles. This genre section will not be easy(one because I have absolutely no idea what to put in it). Lol, anyway, do you play Video Games? We could use some editors at WP:VG that:
  • Fill new article request.
  • Can keep up with new VG related topics.
  • Can easily find low resolution screenshots and covers.
  • Knows the Wikipedia grade scale and can help classify articles.
  • And users that are good at writing reception sections.

Your RfA criteria

Aren't the points in your RfA criteria redundant? Also, regarding The Lightning Thief, can you suggest what I can put in the Audiobook adaptation section? Pmlinediter  Talk 12:33, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

I suggest using this for inspiration.--(NGG) 14:14, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
What do you think of my genre section update? Pmlinediter  Talk 11:48, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
It's good, but when you say the reviewers said "a combination of myth, fantasy and modern". When they said modern, were there any words around it? That just isn't proper English.--(NGG) 11:50, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Well that's what Eoin Colfer said:- "A blend of myth & modern". Probably meant a mixture of mythology with the state of contemporary USA. Pmlinediter  Talk 11:54, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Okay. I'm trying out some new signatures so don't be surprised if it changes up a lot for a while. Have any ideas for a good one?
Well, you might at least include your TP in your signature. I like my signature very much (it is designed on the colors of the PJTF task force). The last sig. was good; you might use it. Pmlinediter  Talk 12:02, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

(unindent) Do you think we should include a major characters list in the article. It is included in a GA, Artemis Fowl (novel) which is being considered as a FAC.

Take a look here. Pmlinediter  Talk 12:02, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

My images vs your images

Are my VG images corrupt? Was there a problem for you? Where they just not good enough for you? If you didn't like my images, let me know about it instead of replacing them and leaving them for dead. I manually deleted a shed load of my images for images because you were replacing them with cover art behind my back I didn't want message for orphan images all year long. Now you've chosen to replace them with title screens. As far as I am aware, no VG image is allowed more than one image due to its "fair-use policy" so my image is worth F-A now. Its convinced me to delete every image I uploaded for your enjoyment. I hope your happy kid. Raphie (talk) 12:37, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Dude, I'm doing what I supposed to do. I suggest you AGF and cool down. Nobody did anything behind your back. Covers are more appropriate. If you expand the articles, there will be room for your screenshots. Cool down before this escalates. Plus, none of those images are "yours". You don't OWN anything here.--(NGG) 13:38, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Yeah the above was out of line, clearing the air would have been more appropriate. So now let us clear the air. First of when I said "my" images, I simply meant "mine" as in "me the uploader" rather than "me the owner". Let's hope that is cleared up. Secondly, on the covers, I got the message that they were preferable, that's why I deleted most of my images so a cover could replace it eventually. It's the titles that probably upset me the most at the time, since well technically its a screenshot taken from an emulator, much like all of my images (again me the uploader). Yes Blue Hawk is taken from a website but the image itself was obviously taken from an emulator. A bit of an explaination as to why the image was being left orphaned would have been nice, but nevermind, its happened, its being left as an orphan and we move on. If all the images that I uploaded are to be replaced, then I would like to help out by manually deleting them. And lastly (or thank heavens he's almost done for those reading this) I would like to apologise for my conduct, again clearing the air and working together to reach a resolve to "the issue" would be been more appropriate and that is what I hope I am doing. Raphie (talk) 13:58, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Lol, dude I have absolutely no hard feelings. I just felt a little bit attacked because someone I've never met on Wikipedia approached me in that manner. In the way of the Blue Hawk article, title screens are like covers. Like I said, just expand those articles and there will room for both the covers/title screens and the screenshots.--(NGG) 20:30, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I reverted your moving this article to "Adventure video game". I did placed a message on Talk:Adventure game. If there is consensus it can be moved to the other name again. Or you can place a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Garion96 (talk) 16:28, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

I removed the pic you placed on Blood Bowl (2009 video game) because it's showing as a red cross in the thumbnail view, although the pic shows correctly when you click on it. If I could fix it, I would do, but because I can't, I've removed it from the page. If you know how to correct it, please do so (I have no problem with the pic itself). Hope that explains why I've removed it (again).Darkson (BOOM! An interception!) 09:26, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Did You Know problem

Hello! Your submission of Pirates of the Carribbean: Armada of the Damned at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Art LaPella (talk) 05:33, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Bad Company 2

By the way if you have reliable links why don't you reference your edits with them; you are meant to after all, other wise there could be another crappy edit war over it, could be but may not. 'The Ninjalemming' 15:57, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

I single handedly provided every link in that article so clearly if your read through the IGN links, you see it clearly says Russia.--(NGG) 19:26, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Okay then. :) 'The Ninjalemming' 19:27, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Gears of War Soundtrack

What the heck was this edit about? --Thejadefalcon (talk) 10:01, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Clearly if you read what I wrote you would figure out. I was basing Blue Dragon's soundtrack section off of Gears of War's and I entered Blue Dragons soundtrack info into Gears of War. Clearly though, your message is unneeded since I reverted myself.--(NGG) 11:17, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
I've never heard of Blue Dragon before so I had no idea what that was. You provided nothing in the edit summary for the revert. I was merely asking a polite question. I didn't say "yo, man, WTF is this crap you wrote", did I? I was just wondering what you were doing. --Thejadefalcon (talk) 11:22, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
OK, thats beautiful. But I didn't exactly respond with hostility. And please don't use that kind of humor, I do find it tad offensive.--(NGG) 11:24, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
The first and last sentences seemed a little hostile. If I read into them wrong, I apologise. I didn't mean to cause any offense myself either. --Thejadefalcon (talk) 11:27, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Of course it's all good though. I don't get stressed out over Wikipedia anymore. Anyway, I see your a part of WP:VG, if you ever want to partner up on a article, drop me a line.--(NGG) 11:29, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm currently in the middle of butchering the Lord of the Rings: Conquest article. It's awful. I'm just testing out some links on my user page, making sure they're all correct and in about ten minutes I'll probably trot down to GAME and nab the system requirements for the PC version. --Thejadefalcon (talk) 11:35, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Well I'm no expert but these are my suggestions on how to write a VG article:
  • Lead:

First paragraph should talk about publishers, developers, and release dates. The second should talk about development and plot. And the last post release and reception.

  • Plot

Keep it short and to the point. It's always better to write the plot section when you have the actual game so that you can cite quotes from the game.

  • Gameplay

Try to add very illustrative screenshots and make sure you have lots of references.

  • Development

Look for lots of info on pre-release talking about promoting the game and press-releases and demo releases. Also try to do a lot of researching on the games engine and development team to get the best results.

  • Reception

Your going to need to have a long reception section cover all of the games weak points and strong points as pointed out by critics.

After you do all that you need to nominate it for Copy editing and then send it to WP:VG for a Peer Review. Then send the article to Good article nominations and finally another peer review before nominating it for FA.--(NGG) 11:44, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Odd. I never got a thing in my talk page telling me you'd responded, so I missed this. I've just uploaded the changes here. What do you think? EDIT: There's also something in the Talk Page that I put in. --Thejadefalcon (talk) 11:25, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Thank you

I would like to thank you for coming out and participating in my Request for Adminship, which closed unsuccessfully at (48/8/6) based on my withdrawal. I withdrew because in my opinion I need to focus on problems with my content contributions before I can proceed with expanding my responsibilities. Overall I feel that the RfA has improved me as an editor and in turn some articles which in my eyes is successful. I understand why you would like me to have a GA or an FA to my credit (I would like that too), at the time of my nomination I was working on what I thought could become a featured list, which may be where I go from here. Thank you again for your support. Cheers and happy editing. --kelapstick (talk) 17:47, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:Kane n mysterio.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image which is not under a free license or in the public domain and it has not been used in any article for more than seven days.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi, Next-Genn-Gamer, thanks for stepping up to review Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares. I think before we spend much more time on this we need to agree the criteria for this type of game - more details at Talk:Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares/GA1:

PS We might want to use a sub-page of the review page for discussing how to apply the GA criteria to 4X and other TBS games. --Philcha (talk)

Hi, Next-Genn-Gamer, another editor has closed Talk:Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares/GA1 as a pass, see WP:GA. Hi. Just wanted to point you to WP:VG/DATE. Release dates for non-English speaking countries should not be listed on game articles unless the game was developed in that country or the game was released in that country before it was in English-speaking ones.
