With due respect please note that the lead section:

This work of French statistician, sociologist and historian of science Alain Desrosières originally appeared in French in 1993. Translated in English by Camille Naish it was published in 1998 by Harvard University Press.

appears perhaps large for the two references but it is not large per se. If I may also comment on the essay-like, please note that I quote a reference for each and every sentence or periods, these references being to three different academic reviews of the work here discussed. Please note that being myself an academic person, I can assure you that I did not include in this piece my opinions, though I studied the boo, but only those of the reviews cited. So I will now introduce a subsection then tentatively remove two of your issues, leaving only the most serious (cleanup rewrite), that I leave you to your kind consideration.
