Inappropriate external links[edit]

- Hello Srleffler, After careful reading of the guidelines you have provided, I believe that the external link I posted adheres to the guidelines set. My contribution to the page was about how a manufacturer now allows for a more friendly interface by providing Apple TV and Android TV compatibility. This will accelerate the adoption of mirror TV by the public. Because I am putting this on Wikipedia, I must provide an external link that verifies my text. Which mine does. My link also provides the reader with the opportunity to read more about mirror TVs and, therefore, has a meaningful and impactful contribution to the community. - We don't generally allow links to pages that are focused on selling a product. That MirrorVue page is just a big advertisement. See WP:NOTADVERT for the policy on using Wikipedia for promotion. More specifically, references need to be to reliable sources, which that site is not.
- The statement that many manufacturers have started supporting Apple TV and Android TV is not particularly controversial. I'm comfortable leaving that statement without a reference until we can find a reliable source for it.
- Regarding this edit: A dead link is not a valid reason to remove a reference. The citation says where the information came from. Whether the page still exists or still provides the same content is not important. Also, in many cases the content of dead pages can be retrieved from an internet archive; a dead link is not a dead end.--Srleffler (talk) 04:12, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
