Your recent contributions...[edit]

You've made a lot of recent contributions, however I know at least one is patently false. Please provide sources for all your additions, or I will be removing them to protect the integrity of Wikipedia. Daniel 00:22, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Famous Past Players of Stade Rennais Football Club[edit]

First of all, thank you for contributing.

However, upon editing the Stade Rennais FC article, I have decided to remove Allan Johnston and Gary Smith from the list. Both these players played for Rennes during the 1996-1997 season, but can hardly be regarded as "famous" in Rennes' parcours, since both played only that season, and Rennes finished in a dissapointing 16th place, with neither player a regular starter.

You will note that players such as César and Luis Fabiano are on the list, even though their record with Rennes is hardly better. They are worthy of being there since they were both record transfers at the time of their signing for Rennes, which Allan Johnston and Gary Smith weren't.

I believe that the logic applied to "Famous Past Players" on the Stade Rennais FC is the one used for most football clubs, and as such not all players that featured for the side should be on it.

Keep up the good work! Shazback 23:35, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I noticed you've been enhancing the article I created yesterday for Mark Brennan, good work. I just wondered if you had any reliable sources to back up the clubs you added? Especially the China one?! Cheers, The Rambling Man 15:38, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, For the Australian clubs you can find a profile of Mark brennan on www.ozfootball.net that gives hi Austraila career details + those of a club in china. as club in China is referred to as Winaway Fc i'm pretty sure club name is incorrect. I put china in as a stop gap.

Well, you need to add an external link or another type of citation to show that Brennan played for the Oz clubs you've mentioned. Plus, the link you've used is simply China - he didn't play for China, so remove it until you're certain what club he did play for if you don't mind. At the moment it's dubious looking because Brennan wasn't Chinese and it looks like he played for China national football team.... The Rambling Man 16:21, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Point taken, will add reference and remove China from his bio. Cheers

Stuart Thurgood Shimizu S-Pulse[edit]

Hi Monkee102,

Just noticed you added this player to S-Pulse's noted players section. You may well know more about it than me, but I was surprised to see he didn't make any appearences while there. Was he notable apart from his lack of impact on the first team? I don't mean to sound sarcastic or anything, but he doesn't seem too notable to me! NASL/MISL players[edit]

Every time you run across a player's name on an old NASL or MISL roster, you seem to add that player to a team page. While these contibutions are welcomed, we really don't need a listing of every player that's ever played for every club. It would be better to simply list only the notable players for each club. November 2007[edit]

Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to Geoff Pike. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. Hammer1980·talk 09:14, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Famous players[edit]

I have noticed that you have added quite a lot of names to the Famous players sections of Dutch football clubs. Some of them, such as Mark Burke for TOP Oss, have only played a few matches. The purpose of these sections is to give a quick overview, they are not meant to be an extensive list of every single player who has ever played for the club. That's what we have the footballer by club categories for, such as Category:FC Zwolle players and Category:FC Den Bosch players. They can be as extensive as necessary. Sources[edit]

Hi, and thank you for adding articles about Ian Muir and other footballers to Wikipedia. Please will you remember to add the source of your information to the article, so that the reader knows where the information came from and can be sure we're not making it up :-) This is very important when writing about living people. Just a note at the bottom of the article with the relevant web address will do. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:07, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Brian Parkinson[edit]

A tag has been placed on Brian Parkinson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Passportguy (talk) 18:32, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Monkee, I've declined this speedy deletion. Strange as this may seem under our policy someone who played for the Lakers is notable, whilst a squad member of Everton who never left the bench is not. ϢereSpielChequers 21:35, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Uncategorised articles[edit]

I noticed that you created a number of uncategorised articles. In future could you please try to ensure that any articles you create are properly categorised. Thanks King of the North East 19:46, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I noticed that you created a few more articles, perhaps you would consider using proper citations, links to homepages such as sover.net do not add anything to the verifiability of an article. If there is something on that site relating to the player, link to the specific page mentioning the player, not the homepage.
As for the categories could you please try to categorise the players by nationality and position Category:American soccer players and Category:Football (soccer) goalkeepers. Also could you try to find details on the date of birth and write it into the introduction (and include a category Category:1900 births). For example a well constructed introduction would read like:
John Doe (born 1 January 1900) is a former American soccer player who played as a Defender for ? FC and ? United....
For more information on the expected standard for soccer biographies see the footballer manual of style. For information on external links see WP:EL and if you have any questions of comments please do not hesitate to contact me on my talkpage or ask at the footy talkpage. American soccer perma-stubs[edit]

Hi, could you please try to follow the Wikiproject football manual of style when crating biographical articles about footballers.

Some of the main issues

  • Please try to include basic biographical information such as place and date of birth.
  • The opening word should be the bolded full name of the player.
  • Unspecific links such as homepages like sover.net are insufficient. Please do not include unspecific links.
  • Articles should be properly categorised:-

-Please try to follow this advice to create fewer articles of a stahigher standard rather than churning out dozens of poor quality articles. King of the North East 21:57, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Monkee102! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 937 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Russell Milton - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

The page Jon Narbett has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia.
