A bit of help

Can you help set up a talk page archive thingy for my talkpage? Its a bit confusing for me to do myself. Creation7689 (talk) 16:47, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

For one simple setup, you could copy what I've got on User talk:Wwoods. (Change the name of course.)

Copied 4 threads to archives, but did not delete originals

This is the first time I have noticed a misfeature of MiszaBot II. In this edit and this one, the bot correctly identified old conversations and placed them in archives; the first became full so it split the archival into a new archive appropriately. But then it didn't remove the original text! I've since removed the original text, but the bot owner will likely want to investigate and correct. Thank you very much for the archival service! —EncMstr (talk) 16:54, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The opposite problem occurred at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Medicine; the bot removed the threads from the main talk page but didn't archive them. I only discovered that problem because I was trying to find a recent thread that I had started, so I checked for more of these issues. The bot did the same thing at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Islam. In the case of Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals), it archived two sections but didn't move them from the main page. At Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion, it moved the sections but didn't archive them. Graham87 01:58, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, Wikipedia was behaving erratically at the time of the archive mess-ups listed above, so maybe that was the reason. Graham87 02:27, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, large categories are still royally messed up. Vegaswikian (talk) 02:56, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Newsletter subscriptions on user talk page disrupting the archive bot?

Please see this thread about the WikiProject Formula One newsletter. Graham87 04:05, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

I would like to inform you that your bot, Wdefcon bot or whatever it's called, has been removing the RPM note. I would recommend that if you delete the note, restore it because the RPM note gathered consensus, so don't remove remove it without consensus. Thanks. --The Master of Mayhem 20:52, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

wikigit

Hi Misza! I'm going around helping bot owners to publish the source code of their bots on wikigit, a github organization created for this purpose. Publishing your source code ensures that others can take over maintainence of tools if the original author becomes unavailable and allows others to create bots based on yours. Very little effort is required - in the simplest case all you have to do is e-mail a ZIP of the source code to an owner. Please take a look at the options and let me know what you want to do, as it'd be great to get MiszaBot I and II on there. I'd also appreciate any feedback on the project since it's new. Thanks! Bot didn't fully archive materials

It missed a few sections from 2008 over at Talk:Frederick III, German Emperor. Is there a way to add those into the new archive? Or do those assessments need to stay on the talk page? Aristophanes68 (talk) 20:59, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The bot wasn't set to wipe the page bare (|minthreadsleft = 4), so it didn't. You can change that, or archive the old sections manually, or just leave them. (The empty section, "Assessment status (substituted from /Comments subpage)", will sooner or later need to be deleted or manually archived.) I don't know why the Table of Contents isn't showing up, though.
—WWoods (talk) 03:05, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently the TOC is not showing up because of the assessment subpage, which I subst'ed onto the talk page but haven't deleted yet. Aristophanes68 (talk) 20:15, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
