RE:NinaEliza[edit]

By the fact that her user pages and contributions have all disappeared, I would suspect that she invoked her right to disappear. I checked the deletion logs, and the reason given for the deletion of her user page was, "This is the page of a user who quit Wikipedia in the December of 2006." I guess that she asked for her page to be deleted before she left. Depressing, -- THL 23:24, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, I found her. She is now User:NinaOdell. Cheers, -- THL 13:39, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comment by the Guardian[edit]

Hi Razorclaw, I see you have already talked to Stothra, and experienced his version of discussion. I believe my edits to the Kriss Donald article, which I have been trying to achieve balance in with a lengthly discussion, were in line with Wikipedia policy. I have explained my reasoning in the dicussion page. Only two commentators share the view that this racist killing was not racially motivated. Wikipedia policy says for a minority view one should be able to identify at least two "prominent adherents". Which I believe has not been done. I have never come across anyone who refuses to engage in the discussion and believes he is right because an "edit war" (with an unregistered user) is taking place. --Guardian sickness 20:34, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm the unregistered user he's talking about. I've actually provided four prominent adherents to a view which he's the only one viewing as "tiny minority". One of these is the most detailed explanatory piece I've found on any site (from the BBC), another a commentary piece by a race relations lecturer. Actually these views may well also express majority opinion in the relevant specialist area; and involve the presentation of several distinct perspectives. "Guardian Sickness" has indeed engaged in discussion but most of it was uncivil, assumed bad faith and refused any kind of compromise. He describes explanations as "irrelevant", views he disapproves of as "tiny minority" and he has also added de facto explanatory material which would fall down by his own interpretation of Wikipedia standards. He repeatedly reverts so as to blank referenced material which is added in order to prevent alternative explanations being presented.

-82.19.5.222 06:01, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I refer Razorclaw to the discussion. Your four "prominent adherents" are not quite as you claim, but I'll wait for your reply in the discussion. If I have not been "civil" then report me to someone.

Razorclaw, just to let you know that user Strothra attempted to report me for 3rr, and was turned down. He has also claimed on his discussion page that he was not involved in any dispute over content, but has shown he is opinionated on the issue http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_page_protection#.7B.7Bla.7CKriss_Donald.7D.7D

Also, he falsely accused me of refusing to engage in the discussion, which, as you can see, is clearly wrong. Thanks for your interest. --Guardian sickness 21:44, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Er...[edit]

Just so you know, you are not an admin. You cannot semi-protect pages, period, not even your own talk or user page. It's also never a good idea to completely remove content from your talk page. Also, saying "Where's my threat" numerous times can constitute harassment... (It's still in the history, but twas probably smart to remove it...) User:Logical2uTalk 20:42, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Hello Razorclaw! I was wondering about the semi-protection template you recently added to your talk page. Only administrators can semi-protect articles, and thus your page is not currently protected. Additionally, semi-protection policy says that user talk pages should not be protected except under extreme circumstances because new or anonymous users may need to contact you, and I don't think the recent history of this page justifies semi-protection. Even if it is to be semi-protected in the future, I would suggest removing it for now because it may be misleading, but I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter. Dar-Ape 20:51, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just so you know, I removed it for you, since it was appearing in Category:Semi-protected. Many new editors are confused about {{sprotected}}, and I am sure that Razorclaw simply made an honest mistake. But since that has been explained by Dar-Ape above, I needn't go into that ;-). Prodego talk 20:58, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed[edit]

sigh... I got rid of it. --Razorclaw $$$$ 21:00, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, an advertisement is a bad idea, since ads are somewhat banned, and any image would probably be an fair use image, which you can't use on userpages... Prodego talk 21:07, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure you can do that. Just do me a favor and don't add any fake "You have new messages" bars to your userpage, because I absolutely hate them. ;-) Prodego talk 21:12, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recreation[edit]

How do I get a page to link to its history? See

You have [[special:mytalk|new messages]]. ([[Special:Mytalkhist|last change]]).

Gets

But It does not link to my talk hist.

Darkest Hour Ж Ж Ж Ж Ж 22:57, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict, without the "edit conflict" screen) While there is no link to the history in the usually "new messages" box, there is a script written by Topaz that lets you change the box to whatever you want it to say. (I came up with the idea, by the way :)...unless someone else did and didn't mention it). See User:Topaz/Wikiscripts and User:Topaz/usermessagechanger.js. –Llama mansign here 20:48, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well I don't think that you can link it to your talk hist, if you were it would be through an external link. But I personally would not advise you to put that "you have new messages" on your userpage since it will greatly confuse the newcomers, greatly. See it through the eyes of the newcomer. Arjun 23:08, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you have to use an external link. Copy the full URL and single-bracket it ([]). Xiner (talk, email) 23:10, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Llama man, how dare you come up with this evil invention ;). I despise that thing. -- The Hybrid 23:15, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well guess what,

Re: HHunh?[edit]

I had trouble with it for about a month, myself. Merely putting it on a page will not make it work; you have to go to your monobook.js, put this script in your monobook:

inc("User:Topaz/init.js");
inc("User:Topaz/util.js");
inc("User:Topaz/wputil.js");
inc("User:Topaz/comm.js");
inc("User:Razorclaw/usermessagechanger.js")

Next, copy and paste the script from User:Topaz/usermessagechanger.js to a new page called User:Razorclaw/usermessagechanger.js. You might want to ask Topaz about getting the history link, as I don't have much knowledge with JavaScript. When you're done doing that, follow the instructions at the top of your monobook.js to do a hard refresh. –Llama mansign here 21:20, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is more then that in Topaz's script, and it only changes it for you. The bar above is right (if you want all users to see), and you can change the external link to look internal. But I thought you said you wouldn't use these annoying things! Prodego talk 22:35, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am just joking with you. ;-) Prodego talk 19:40, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Look stuff over[edit]

Sure. I'll do it now. Finally, something to do other than play cat and mouse with trolls! -- The Hybrid 22:08, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've looked it all over, and checked the codes personally. It all works. Good job. Cheers, -- The Hybrid 22:13, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow. There was just a minor problem with how your coding for the welcome turned up, but fixing it required a major rewrite. Check the diff to see what I mean. I'll do the rest later, as that gave me a horrible headache. Later, -- The Hybrid 00:24, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, everything else works fine. Note that I was talking about that welcome where it's like "we can't say that loud enough" before. The graphical welcome is fine. You must be tired. Cheers, -- The Hybrid 03:33, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to do it. Cheers, -- The Hybrid 20:47, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I may quit[edit]

I may be quitting Wikipedia. I've grown tired of the politics and the corruption that comes with them. I've left a message at the WP:ADOPT talk page, but since we are friends as well I thought that I should let you know personally. I'm taking a long Wikibreak to consider this. Later -- The Hybrid 20:17, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Check me[edit]

Hi. You probably know this, but the {{helpme}} tag sends notices to among others, an IRC chatroom. Did you actually need help? If not, you might want to remove it right after you place it next time, or use "Show preview". Thanks for updating the template, btw. Xiner (talk, email) 21:51, 22 January 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Cool.[edit]

Glad I could help. Xiner (talk, email) 20:53, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean by that? Xiner (talk, email) 20:55, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the first question would be, why another help template? I hope it won't be used on article talk pages, where it'd be too much. Xiner (talk, email) 21:05, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why not just modify the existing template then? Add the Help Desk link, and perhaps other behavior as well. {{helpme}} is well-known, so improving it would be preferable I think. Xiner (talk, email) 21:17, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What if you edit the existing template and correct whatever deficiencies it has? Xiner (talk, email) 21:26, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't it? I've edited the new version; perhaps you'd like to take a look. Xiner (talk, email) 21:50, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. You could take a look around the templates category. Some tags definitely could be improved. Cheers. Xiner (talk, email) 21:58, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to take a look at Wikipedia:Requested_templates. Of course, if something already exists, or won't be of much use, don't do it, but you may be able to help someone out there. Xiner (talk, email) 01:32, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings[edit]

I don't think I'm following you, sorry. Trebor 20:57, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, but what exactly is your question? Trebor 21:01, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, then yeah probably, although I don't claim to have much knowledge about this. Trebor 21:04, 23 January 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Sure![edit]

I suck at HTML and all that. Would you help me do it? Thanks for the suggestion, NinaOdell | Talk 14:07, 26 January 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Mono book[edit]

How do I enter some thing in my Mono book? An aquaintence told me that to do a certian action I would have to enter it into my monobook. --D.H. ( T | C ) 21:05, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edit your monobook.js, similiar to a normal page. Cheers! Yuser31415 (Editor review two!) 21:11, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, a few of possible bugs (I'm not sure if they matter, but this is how I wrote it):
  1. You have to put "inc" (without the quotes) before each opening parenthese
  2. The spaces between the "inc"s should be deleted.
  3. There should be a closing semicolon after the last "inc".
  4. Did you do a hard refresh? Follow the instructions at the top of your monobook.js for instructions.
  5. To see the difference, you should slightly change the part of the script in your usermessagechanger.js that says 'You have <a title="User talk:'+topaz.wputil.username()+'">new messages</a> (<a title="User talk:'+topaz.wputil.username()+'">last change</a>).';
    For simplicity, just change the "you" to "youu", or something else minor.
  6. Um, delete that part at the bottom of your monobook.js. It could actually mess up the script.
After doing those things, log out (or create an alternate account), edit your talk page, and log back in. The "You have new messages bar" should change. –Llama man 22:03, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and don't link the "inc"s. –Llama man 22:07, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Um, could you please rephrase your question, and try to stay cool? (It took me about a month to get these scripts right, and was extremely frustrating, so I know what it feels like.) –Llama man 19:43, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, only administrators and yourself can edit any subpage you have ending with ".js". So I can't edit your script. My only suggestion would be to revert to the first version of your monobook; hopefully, that will work. If it still doesn't try asking Topaz about it, as I'd be stumped. –Llama man 20:29, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What is the problem? Prodego talk 20:53, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

whistling. Actually, what you need to do is purge your page cache, which will make the page look correct. However, if the page isn't working there is something wrong with the code. Which is the case? Prodego talk 21:00, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Click here. I removed the pre tag for you, all you need to do is click that to fix it. Prodego talk 21:04, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do a hard refresh of this (press ctrl-F5), and purge that page cache as well. That should fix it. Prodego talk 21:10, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You need to do a hard refresh of User:Razorclaw/usermessagechanger.js as well. What browser do you use? Prodego talk 21:16, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have the same DOM inspector as firefox? Prodego talk 21:19, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, hold on there might be a much much easier way to do this. Prodego talk 21:28, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Give me a new message please. Prodego talk 21:30, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
