Mewburn Ellis[edit]

A tag has been placed on Mewburn Ellis, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. StephenBuxton (talk) 10:30, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It would be appreciated if you would not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Mewburn Ellis. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. I have also added the hangon tag for you, as you do appear to be contesting it. In future, please do not remove speedy deletion tags. This does not take your article off of the various pages that administrators view, and so does not protect your article from deletion. The Hangon tag will allow you time to justify the notability, and (more importantly, given your user ID and the name of the company) why this article is not actually just an advertisment for your company. Looks like your article is surviving, which is good news. I was worried when I saw the article first appear (as this happens so frequently, I'm sure you can appreciate my concern) that as your user name matched the article title, this was to be an advert. Another common occurance is for someone to write an article about themselves, which is known as a vanity page and is also disallowed, but I digress.
Anyway, I have added an orphan template to your article, as I see that aside from this talk page, there are no links to your article. I have also added a welcome message to this page, as I forgot to do this earlier (sorry about that). The links in the welcome message should hopefully prove useful in giving tips as to how to turn your article (and others) into a good Wikipedia article.
Although I am not an administrator, I will try and help in any way I can. Feel free to ask! StephenBuxton (talk) 17:01, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Block[edit]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Mewburn, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.
