Mdy66

Thank you for taking the time to explain your descision - many of your peers do not seem to bother.

My intention was not to create an advertisement - this was my second article - my first on our company chairman User:Scottshepherd/sandbox was also tagged for speedy deletion by User:Peridon despite me basing its format and content on similar existing pages.

Our chairman Ken McCulloch has been a prominent hotelier in the UK for many years now and has won several accolades and appears by name in several articles. In addition to this his mother, Kathie Kay was a famous singer in the 50s and 60s. When searching for him i noticed that although he was mentioned on several pages he did not his own and yet seemed to warrant one given his connections to so many existing pages.

I proceded to write what I still consider to be an objective piece on his career, hotel legacies (as so many of them now have their own pages) and awards (which are also recognised by Wikipedia). As all but one of the companies i cited are no longer his (You could regard them now as direct competitors) i certainly considered this an objective approach.

My reason for creating the Dakota hotels page was quite simple - Ken is famously known for creating four hotel brands One Devonshire Gardens, Malmaison, Columbus Monaco and Dakota. When writing that first article i noticed that Dakota was his only hotel creation without an existing page. You will have noticed i made no mention of rates, hotel features other than number of rooms - only the conception of the name which i deemed to be of encyclopedic interest and the locations along with awards won - again a feature replicated in nealry all pages relating to buisiness', prominent figures and sports persons. Essentially there are no articles on wikipedia relationg to bodies or individuals who have won awards that don't mention those awards. Before writing the article i looked at various other Hotel chains with Wiki pages to make sure i was following a pattern and to be fair considering i had one link to the Dakota website in the Wiki defined Company Infobox where it specifically asks for the official website info plus one further link to the specific part of the website which details the referecnce to the Dakota Aircraft from where the hotel gets its name i think my article was far less commercial than for example the multiple pages Hilton require to tell their story along with multiple links to their website.

I would then ask you as an editor and moderator to consider my case on both my articles and either move to have them both reinstated or certainly provide me with some guidance as to how my content differs so much from similar existing articles which are deemed acceptable and how i should have approached writing these articles to conform with your guidlines.

In anticipation

Mdy66,

I've gone ahead and moved the references from the section headers to the body section. I will work on adding some third party references. Thanks for your help, and any additional comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Response to Proposed Deletion of "Dr. Shelby" Article

Your proposition makes sense. It is incorrectly edited now and needs to be deleted until a proper source is out there about who really is portraying "Dr. Shelby". Thank you for your alertness! (Note I only added a redirect, not the current draft of it.) Srsrox (talk) 21:55, 11 October 2012 (UTC)

Remote skylights

Hi,

I created the article on remote skylights that you just turned into a redirect to normal skylights. Whilst they sound similar, I believe that the technological differences warrant a page of their own. Would you mind undoing your change until such a time when I've populated the page enough to facilitate a discussion on the merits of it being it's own page?

Page Curation newsletter - closing up!

Hey all :).

We're (very shortly) closing down this development cycle for Page Curation. It's genuinely been a pleasure to talk with you all and build software that is so close to my own heart, and also so effective. The current backlog is 9 days, and I've never seen it that low before.

However! Closing up shop does not mean not making any improvements. First-off, this is your last chance to give us a poke about unresolved bugs or report new ones on the talkpage. If something's going wrong, we want to know about it :). Second, we'll hopefully be taking another pass over the software next year. If you've got ideas for features Page Curation doesn't currently have, stick them here.

Again, it's been an honour. Thanks :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 12:29, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

Significance

When using Page Curation, be careful. The 'significance' thing may look like it covers more than A7 at first sight. It doesn't. A Zip code doesn't come in as it doesn't have legs and it's not online. A7 is people, groups of people (companies, undersea crocheting societies, hiphop crews, Churches such as The Church of the Dancing Hamster which is a tax dodge, but not churches like St Eggfroth the Leper's which is a building, named animals like Gertie the singing quokka but not species like Hamstera choreographica, and also things you use online like Wikipedia, but not things you download like Firefox. (Spot the G3 candidates there...). Zip codes can't really be speedied unless they are hoaxes, single user request or implausible redirects. They CAN be prodded.... Re: Monica Hall (music)

Please feel free to rename the article to "Monica Hall".

I couldn't find as much biographical info as I would have liked. If anyone can fill in the gaps then please add it to the article.

cheers

This article included a small notice on right middle and tell everyone who visit this article will had some Chinese Words. So i try to delete your notice from top. For the reason why need to use Chinese Words for this article was because some of words need Chinese Language to let reader to see and meaning of that Chinese Words can let others to know. Anything you want to tell me about if Requisite to that notice, please let me know and write to my talk page. First i would agree Wikimedia commitment to creator and try to follow Wikimedia commitment. (K.b.cheng (talk) 17:52, 9 November 2012 (UTC))

I received your message. Isn't for my this article need to add in that notice? If really then i just add in that notice on below. K.b.cheng (talk) 19:18, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
Hello Mdy66, If i don't want that notice. What can i do for my article? K.b.cheng (talk) 19:57, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

This is not a newsletter

This is just a tribute.

Anyway. You're getting this note because you've participated in discussion and/or asked for updates to either the Article Feedback Tool or Page Curation. This isn't about either of those things, I'm afraid ;p. We've recently started working on yet another project: Echo, a notifications system to augment the watchlist. There's not much information at the moment, because we're still working out the scope and the concepts, but if you're interested in further updates you can sign up here.

In addition, we'll be holding an office hours session at 21:00 UTC on Wednesday, 14 November in #wikimedia-office - hope to see you all there :). I appreciate it's an annoying time for non-Europeans: if you're interested in chatting about the project but can't make it, give me a shout and I can set up another session if there's enough interest in one particular timezone or a skype call if there isn't. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 11:08, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

Dear Mdy66,

I begin to update the Sinano Institute page following all the Wikipedia recommandations. I have a question: how can I delete the "old references " (not correct), which still appear? When I access to the edit page, I can not see them there...

Thank you very much in advance for your help

With best regards

Pending release of Notifications

Hey Mdy66 :). I'm dropping you a note because you have signed up for the Notifications, or Echo, newsletter.

If all goes according to plan, we should be launching Echo on en-wiki either tomorrow, or next Tuesday - I'll drop a followup tomorrow when we know what's happening. Should the launch succeed, we'll begin the process of triaging bugs and gathering feedback on what features work, what cause problems, and what we should do next; I hope you'll help us out on these fronts by leaving any comments you might have on the talkpage.

Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 22:01, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi there. I was wondering why you are making edits to unwikilink items? Whether it is part of the WP Rules it is commonly done in infoboxes and at base it seems destructive to pages and more concerning -- is not actually contributing content. Would you possibly consider approaching editing from a more constructive approach? There is so much to contribute to Wikipedia. Just a suggestion. -- BrillLyle (talk) 19:53, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

Information icon Hi Mdy66! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Simo Häyhä that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you.
