File source and copyright licensing problem with File:M. Brian Blake - blake.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:M. Brian Blake - blake.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 04:41, 30 December 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 04:41, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome[edit]

Hello, Mbblake, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Jason Quinn (talk) 02:12, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

User page guide lines[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia however the material you have created seems to be mostly about yourself. In general, this is a faux pas at Wikipedia. I am not going to prod (request deletion) your autobiographical article but generally this is the case. Also, your user page is supposed to be about you as an editor of Wikipedia so it should not duplicate an article. User pages have some rules. Things like categories should not appear on your userpage. It messes stuff up. Please read WP:USERPAGE. Your editing so far, seems mostly self-promotional. I hope that you embrace the spirit of Wikipedia and contribute to articles in your field out of a sense of benevolence rather than personal gain.
