Yanush[edit]

Thanks a lot for your article on Leonid Yanush! I have made a small wikification and copyediting there. I think a little bit of more copyediting should be done by native English speakers. We might also tone done some hype there, Leonid Yanush was a remarkable painter but he certainly is not that big as say Ilya Repin or even Arkady Rylov as wikipedia writes about all notable painters we have to keep some reservations here. Also I do not particular like the sentence about the early 20th century being a hard time for artists because Russian Avant-Garde flourished. We need to rephrase the sentence as it is now sounds as an attack against Russian Avant-garde.

No article about a painter is complete without examples of his work. I saw that you have downloaded a few beautiful images into the Russian Wiki but they will be deleted in a few days unless you clear the copyright status. Yanush is a modern artist so his works are copyrighted. Wikipedia prefers to work with Free Licenses like Creative Commons or GFDL. This gives people rights to freely use the image if they a) attribute the image to its author, b) release their own work that uses the image under the same free license. As a heir of Yanush you have the right to release some images (maybe low quality) under a free license. This way would help to promote the work of your ancestor and you probably would still be able to request royalties from the publisher houses as the low quality image released under free license is not sufficient for albums. We could use Yanush works to illustrate articles about Pavlovsk, etc. The other way is to claim Fair Use of very low quality reproductions for the critical commentary of paintings. It is allowed only on English and Russian Wikipedia and obviously only in Leonid Yanush article. It is much less convenient for the project but is more safer for your rights for the royalties. The choice is yours.

Thanks again for your article and hope to see more of those Alex Bakharev (talk) 09:03, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your assistance. I highly appreciate your advices.
I will continue editing the article and add the paintings' photos as soon as I get download status.

Thanks! Please ask questions any time you have troubles. Wikipedia rules are supposed to be simple and intuitive but very often they are quite arcane Alex Bakharev (talk) 05:46, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
