Seeing how much work you're putting into the Interlingua articles[edit]

Hi, last year I worked on the Ido article to the extent that it got featured on the front page near the end of last year (on Christmas day, actually), and it looks like you're putting in enough effort that you might want to consider doing that. It would take a lot of referencing though for some of the content you're adding such as the being able to learn it in 15 days (what kind of people, what's the source) and some other comments. The FA process is pretty rigid and generally you have to find enough references that even a really big critic of the language would have no choice but to agree, but if it gets to FA status and then goes up on the front page then it gets viewed by at least a million people over the first day, and then stays on the front in a smaller form for another three days as well. Just thought I'd bring up the idea if you haven't considered it yet. Mithridates 17:37, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - the Korean word for Interlingua is 인터링구아. There are quite a few hagwons over here that use the word Lingua in the title though so that's what people usually think it is at first. As for making Interlingua an FA, it does take quite a bit of time and sourcing so it's usually best to make a plan over a whole month and not rush things. Maybe two weeks of work, peer review, then two weeks more. Maybe a note at the constructed languages portal as well, and even a message to the Auxlang mailing list. That Ido song wasn't written by me BTW, I only play the drums. Just in case you're curious my Auxlang history goes as follows --> Esperanto for four days until discovered Ido --> Ido since April 2005 and still support it but the Ido language community is a bit odd for my tastes --> Interlingua since summer of 2005 and I still like it but don't feel I can promote a language that isn't always pronounced as written where I live in Korea --> LFN since December 2005 as LFN is more what I had hoped for in a naturalistic language, and the language community is really friendly and forward-looking. Plus the founder is actively involved which is good, you can see languages like Novial and Interlingue that may have been a good idea but the founders died too early and what was left over just began to stagnate.

One other thing the Ido community has always had to work around has been the name. The first memory I have of Ido is seeing an interwiki link and thinking it was a Nigerian language (Ibo). Interlingua, Esperanto and Lingua Franca Nova have names that better explain themselves than Ido. Ah well. Mithridates 19:01, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
