Capitalisation

[edit]

Hi there. I've reverted several of your edits on owl related articles because you were incorrectly capitalising the nouns. Regular nouns in English are not capitalised, only proper nouns like people's names or names of specific individual items. See MOS:COMMONNAMES for more details. Canterbury Tail talk 15:57, 10 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

On the contrary, most conventions require that common English names of bird species have title capitalization (that is, all words in the name have the first letter capitalized), the only exceptions to this are usually words immediately following a hyphen. See the AOU and other groups' naming conventions for more details. Mascarenotus17 (talk) 16:06, 10 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The AOU is irrelevant unfortunately, this is Wikipedia. On Wikipedia the style of the encyclopaedia is not to capitalise per the policy linked above. Additionally Wikipedia:WikiProject_Birds who manage the birds related pages also have the same guideline. As a result I'll need to revert that edit back. Thank you.
