I have reverted your edits to List of ship companies. See WP:NOTDIR: Wikipedia is not a directory. If you feel these companies are notable (per WP:N), write the article and then add them to the list. Please stop adding the same information over and over again. Write the articles first, then add them. There is no conceivable reason to do it the other way around, unless you wish to turn Wikipedia into a version of the Yellow Pages. Besides, there is no way to verify that the information you are adding is correct, and thus it falls foul of another one of our core policies, WP:Verifiability. Thank you. - You can claim--incorrectly--that I am deleting information, but it's rather the opposite: adding unverified or unverifiable information is doing a disservice. And will you please stop adding wikilinks to section titles; I've explained a half a dozen times that such is not according to the manual of style. Please play by the rules: WP:RS, WP:V, WP:MOS. Hey Malton, I have a proposal for you. You seem interested in this article, and I'm interested in making Wikipedia better. Let's go ahead and merge List of ship companies into List of shipping companies, and here's why. First, there really is no reason to have two separate articles. Second, some of the things you added or expanded upon in the Canada section can easily find a place in the more informative tables in the "shipping" articles. For instance, you added "Canadian National Steamships - a division of Canadian National Railways"--that's the kind of thing that can go in that table, and what I think is fair is that inclusion is warranted if one of those two terms (company and owner) have an article on Wikipedia: that should please you, no? Let me know; we can make the one cleaner and the other more relevant. It will take some work given that there's tables involved and a need for more information. File permission problem with File:Lincoln Alexander.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Lincoln Alexander.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to US des Forces Armées. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Orphaned non-free media (File:Ellen_Fairclough.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Ellen_Fairclough.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box.
