Thank you so much for writing the Manifest article. I have zero knowledge of it myself but it bugged me that I was writing an Animania article that actually had information in it, and followed the Wikipedia style, and Manifest was that four-sentence piece of rubbish. It's looking good and it can only get better. Oh, and would it be cool to link Animania on the page? The peer review people are keen on having articles linked from lots of places. Thank you - it's my first major edit, and it's good to know it's useful. As to linking Animania, beyond the fact that the two conventions are Australian, and the research trip the Animania committee made, I can't think of any reason to link the pages that wouldn't be inflammatory. A "Related Conventions" section could contain links to all the Australian conventions, but I think this role is fulfilled by List_of_anime_conventions. I'd be interested to know more specifically what you were thinking of. Malekin 21:29, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
True. I suppose if we give it another year it will be worth mentioning once the Animania Melbourne Mini-con takes place as being the second convention in Melbourne, especially if (as I suspect) they are testing the waters to see if it's worth running a fully-fledged Animania Melbourne in 2007. Well, M:Y Con (Melbourne YAOI Con - and may god, or the fangirls, have mercy on our souls) might beat mini-Animania to the title of second. There's also Minifest and the Manga Library's Cultural Flows Symposium, if you count them.
I don't know that the point of the mini-Animanias is to test the water for a larger con - it takes a lot of man-hours to put on a full-sized con, and I'm not sure where Animania would get the people. Disaffected ex-Manifest committee might provide some, though as far as I can tell they're mostly going to M:Y or Eminence. I read the mini-Animanias as primarily being revenue sources for their larger event. Malekin 07:33, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's probably the largest part of it. I'm just reading stuff into it because they had a mini-Brisbane last year and are branching out into a full-Brisbane this year. But then, Brisbane doesn't (to my knowledge) have a big convention yet. Confusing Manifestation 08:04, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
