Daddy Andre

Born Ojambo Andrew, Daddy Andre is a Ugandan recording artist, songwriter, and producer. His music genre specialty is Afrobeat, HipHop, Dancehall, Afropop, RnB. His music journey started way back when he started producing and writing songs for his friends in 2014. This is where the demand for his touch started from, hence coming up with songs like Kyoyoya, Now featuring Spice Diana, You and Me featuring Lydia Jazmine, Nsitula featuring Spice Diana and Ava Peace, Sikikukweka, Tugende Mu Church and so many more. Daddy Andre has written for artists like Bebe Cool, Rema Namakula, Winnie Nwagi, Sheebah, Mun G among others. Daddy Andre has also been nominated and won a number of awards such as; Best Producer Zzina Awards 2020, Best Songwriter Zzina Awards 2020, Teeniez BeatMaker 2019, Teeniez songwriter 2019, Best Ragga/Dancehall 2018 (You and Me) and so many more. He is currently signed to Black Market Records and is still working on more music projects.

Nina Roz

Nina Kankunda famously known as Nina Roz is a singer and songwriter. She is a young undergraduate of the International University of East Africa who studied Bachelors of Business Administration but gave it a break in her second (2nd) year due to unavoidable circumstances, hence concentrating on music.

Her unique voice, singing, performing skills, sense of style, and fashion mesmerized whoever listened to her. Nina Roz has songs like Kyoyooyo, Munda Ddala, Billboard, Olumya Bano, Anayinama and so many more. In 2020 Nina Roz got signed to Black Market Records label, where she is yet to release more music.

Black Market Records Afrika

Black Market Records Afrika is a music record label, affiliated to Black Market Records established in 1989 in Sacramento California, founded by Cedric Singleton. Black Market Records Afrika started operations a few years ago, now operating in over eleven African countries including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Nigeria, Sierra-Leone, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Swaziland, Liberia, and Somalia.

Ugaboy Music; Is a Ugandan afro-pop duo, both sharing the same genre skills and ideological competence. The duo started in 2016 in Kampala. 'Ugaboy Music' are brothers, Ugaboy Coins and Ugaboy Zee.

Malinga Suleiman aka Ugaboy Coins was born on 9th October in Jinja and now lives in Kampala Uganda. He is an Afropop, reggae, Zouk, RnB, recording artist, and songwriter. He is associated with other artists like Hid 16th, Boyzee, Davy Rayz among others.

Musunji Mohammed aka Ugaboy Zee was born on 9th April and he is an Afropop recording artist who has worked with several record producers.

In 2019, the Ugaboys were signed to Black Market Records where they have released songs like African Drum, Zzina, Belle among others.

OMA AFRICANA

Kafeero Umaru, also known as Oma Africana is a Ugandan Singer and Songwriter.

In 2006, Oma lost his father and role model in life; and started living a hard and miserable life. During his stay in the village, Oma met a friend called Octopus who dearly loved music and was indeed a great singer. Octopus shared a vision he had about music and they needed to start singing with immediate effect; by then Oma Africana used to call himself Brodwin. Oma hustled and looked for jobs in order to raise some money for his music career. He worked tirelessly but still didn’t have enough to go to a good studio. His talent came to the attention of Andy Music who gave him the first deal to write and record a song for his child called Tanisha. As he continued to hustle, Oma met the Ugandan dancehall artist Beenie Gunter and Imon Pro where he recorded a song with him. During that time Oma was joined by his brother A SteyN and decided to record the songs called ‘Kilomidi and Shuga" and after a few months, A steyN introduced him to Eddy Kenzo who dearly liked his music. Eddy Kenzo gave him a chance to record music from his studio ‘Bang Records’ at no cost.

In 2020, Oma Africana got signed to Black Market Records, headquartered in Sacramento California where he is producing more music and some of his recent songs include 'Ebyange' and 'Skanka'

HID 16TH

Shahid Matte popularly known as Hid 16th is a Hip-hop rapper, artist, and songwriter. He started his music career as a rapper which saw him win the MTN 'Eastern Rapper of The Year' UG Hip-Hop Awards in 2019. He later took an advancement to perfect much more in other genres.

HID 16TH now specializes in music genres like Afropop, dancehall, hip-hop and has music associates like Arae on Rae, J Wats, Pyramid Mc, and Ram Mc. He so far has projects like A Chance, Ma Peng ft KashKeed, Confessions ft Davy Rayz, and most recently, 'Uptown Girl'. He is signed to Black Market Records.

A SteyN

Producer A SteyN, born Opio Isaac is a Ugandan Music producer who under Banq Records in 2019, produced Eddy Kenzo's 'Tweyagale'; recently the most played song in Ugandan history, with over 100 million views. A SteyN's breakthrough song was 'Seekle Down' by Beenie Gunter and 'Matala' by Winnie Nwagi in 2018.

A SteyN started his music career by playing the piano in church and in 2015, learned music production at Fox Records, under Producer Temperature Rise's mentorship. He then joined Buggie Empire in 2017 and worked with the group for over a year until he met Yesse Oman Raffic, who took him to 'Studio Route Ent' where he recorded his breakthrough songs. A SteyN is now signed to Black Market Records, and some of his recent hits include 'Omalawo' by Lydia Jazmine, 'Ebyange' by Oma Africana, 'Sonko' by Eddy Kenzo, and 'Emotional' by Angella Katatumba.

BASH KILLA

Producer Bash Killa, born Bashiru Mwayi is a Ugandan afro-sound talented music producer residing in Kampala city. Bash Killa was born on the 4th of July 1997 in Kampala downtown, where his music career started in 2013 from Dream studio; and Firebase - a Bobi Wine affiliated studio where he started as a learner at the age of 17years. Currently, Producer Bash Killa is signed to Black Market Records, a Music Records Label founded in Sacramento California. Bash Killa has worked with Ghanian Artiste Magnom and Ugandan artists Sheebah Karungi, Chosen Blood, John Blaq, Nina Roz, Ugaboy Music, among others. His dream is to make life-time ‘stars’ with his magical hands, producing music.

BOONDOCKS GANG

The Boondocks Gang is a three-man gengetone group comprised of Exray, Maddox, and Odi Wa Murang'a. They are at the forefront of the gengetone movement sweeping across the planet. In December 2018 they released the song Reing and this track began a wave of hits that would be produced by the group in the following months like Madam, Mboko Haram, Ital, and Modo Man. The three members of the Boondocks Gang met in Githurai - Nairobi neighborhood while attending a drama class at Christ The King in 2015. The original group was a gospel hip-hop group and released a few hip-hop songs with little success. In 2018, the Boondocks Gang went through a transformation and began doing gengetone. In the raw and sexually explicit style of gengetone, they began to thrive. As their fame began to rise in 2019 the group began doing collaborations with some of the best-known artists in East Africa including Sauti Sol, Khaligraph Jones, Ethic Entertainment, The Sailors 254 and so many others. The highly sought after band maintains a heavy tour and performance schedule in East Africa with ambitions of bringing their intoxicating performances to the planet. In 2019they came to the attention of Black Market Records an American-based recording company and were immediately signed.

JEGEDE

Jackson Rakama also popularly known as Jegede is a Kenyan musician propelled to fame by his track 'Gudi Gudi', among other songs such as Bolingo, Pare-Pare, and Rampapa. He doubles as a producer and says he could have been a comedian if destiny did not lead him to music.

Jegede shares his journey from his early days in Busia as a dancer who started by singing, then moved to acting and dancing. For a while, Jegede also did stand up comedy and as well, Lingala. Jegede then formed a dance group 'Everlast' before he decided to move to Nairobi where the group took part in the 'Sakata' dance competition, emerging as Winners. The group however disintegrated later on as members went on to pursue individual projects and hence Jegede was introduced to music by his cousin. A journey he describes as 'not having been easy'; since it took him over three years to find his sound, as he realized that if he wanted to make it to the top or gain any relevance in the music industry, he had come up with his own sound, and that is how he started his music career.

KLIN

Osiru Joel, also known as Klin is the music producer behind 'Kanchumbali', a musical ballad currently topping many Kampala Uganda billboards. He started his musical journey a few years back as a choir trainer, and thus learned a lot about music theory before he later started producing beats for fun and shortly after, realized the need to commercialize it. Klin has mastered his musical essentials from various studios around Kampala, including 707sine, Tbk records, Prof Eli Beats, and has produced music commercially for three (3) years.

Klin is now signed to Black Market Records, an American based record label where he has projects like Kachumbali, Misi (ale leta) and is involved in projects with artists like Mavo Culture, Kvan, Weasle among others.

JOEFES

Joefes was born Joseph Getugi Nyamweya in Kisumu City in the mid-'90s before he was later nicknamed Joe, after his father’s favorite actor at the time.

After high school, Joe rebranded and changed his name to Joefes. Around 2014, Joefes met Iphoolish who later introduced him to Sam C. Joefes joined Pwani University and by late 2015 Joefes had started working on his first mixtape, Metarmorphisis, which was then released, and his first music video was also released the same year (Ebibengi). School got better of him and he took a break before releasing another video in early 2017 (Igwe). In 2018 Joefes got contacted by Black Market Records with an ideal offer, a contract. He was already in a crew consisting of his day ones Iphoolish, Tatinomi, and Dance (Urban Village Sounds). In mid-2018 Joefes signed a deal with Black Market Records.

Joefes is behind songs like Wagithomo, Dadi, Katika, Like This, among others.

Lunkuse Betty Ssekirevu

Lunkuse Betty Ssekirevu, also known as Lunkuse Betty Paulls is a Ugandan writer, emerging filmmaker, entrepreneur, and music enthusiast born in April 1995. She has worked with Organisations like ASHWA Uganda, BRAC, Sanyu Foundation Uganda, and she previously ran a community development blog dubbed 'lunkuse.com' from September 2018 to September 2020.

Lunkuse also worked as a model shortly before she decided to focus fully on her career as a writer and film and music enthusiast. As a model, Lunkuse was popular for her project mutima_wangu, featured in She Leads Africa, and a vixen in Ghanaian Singer, Artist and Social Entrepreneur Okuntakinte's 'Melanin Girls' music video. She also featured in other publications like the Observer, and has written texts like 'The Ruffle' - A stage Play, 'The Voice of Calypso' which she describes as her child-brain and 'VOICES - 1', a Community 'Gender-Based-Violence' themed dance script that showed at Uganda National Culture Centre in October 2019, in collaboration with the Dance Adventure Studios.

Lunkuse attended Kyengera Parents school, Light College Katikamu and East High School Ntinda before joining Ashesi University College in Berekuso Ghana, for a Bachelors' Degree in Business Administration; where she later withdrew after her Sophomore year, moving back to Uganda to pursue her career as a writer. Lunkuse is also a peace rebel and peace agent, and graduand of the World Peace Initiative's 'Amandhla Youth Fellowship' and 'Amani Training for Africa' Program since October 2019 and February 2020 respectively.

Currently, Lunkuse works with the writing and promotions Department at Black Market Records and is also Productions Manager for Prospective Feature Film titled 'Asiya The Last Queen', a film that explores human trafficking and its post-trauma effects on the survivors.

MONI CENTROZONE

Musician Awadhi, popularly known as Moni Centrozone was born in Tanzania and raised by his single mother in Dodoma, the country's capital city. Dreams of pursuing music started back in school when Moni Centrozone started to perform in a Swahili rap group known as Central Zone. He continued till he met legendary Langa Kileo who advised him and two other rappers to form a click called Central Zone. Soon, Moni Centrozone was signed to Tongwe Records as a solo artist and released many hits such as Hatuhesaba, KiriKuu that introduced him to Bongo. In 2018 he went independent and started Majengo Sokoni Music (MSM), and successfully put out more music like Mwaah, Chuchu Dede, Lamotp, and appeared at Africa’s biggest concerts such as Fiesta, Wasafi Festival and so many more. In 2020, Moni Centrozone got signed to legendary label Black Market Records.

RICO GANG

Rico Gang is an abbreviation for ‘ Realest Illest Coolest Outta town Gang'. It is a crew that consists of three members based in Nairobi, Kenya.

The stated crew members include Harry Craze (Harry Adoyo), Triand Rands ( Wilson Rubaru), and Graycee (Grace Wanjiru). Rico Gang music is all about what affects the society of the new generation and the gang's involvement in the given events.

The group was formed in 2017 and the crew members had similar goals, passion, and interests; hence facilitating the three to form the music group. The crew gave in equal efforts in collaboration with friends and family and came up with their first song titled 'Dance it up'. The reception was not quite pleasing but they never gave up, later switching to the street bangers, releasing a hit song named Fuckboy. The RICO gang indeed tackles real-life lessons on issues affecting the youth, which made them gain a huge number of fans across Kenya rendering hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube and still counting.

The gang then went ahead and released other songs namely Serereka, Taki Taki remix, Imenti and many more. In 2019, Rico gang was signed to Black Market Records, and have since then released songs like Lingala Na Sheng.

Team Psycho

Team Psycho is an upcoming musical group from Kangemi, Kenya. The group consists of three artists Joseph Hill, Iano Mambling Mbling, and Nduati Nah.

Before Team Psycho found their niche in the music industry, they lived a life of crime, so that they could provide for themselves. One day while the group was planning their next course of action for the upcoming day, Joseph Hill heard a beat coming from his neighbor's house and told Iano “no shut up" but in sheng “Kata Tenje Iano" then Nduati Nah started making the chorus they started freestyling. They finally were on to something great and legal. The group decided to sell all their belongings and go to the studio, once there they found out they didn’t have enough money for the production.

That didn’t however discourage them as they decided to go forward and shoot their first video track themselves by using a phone camera and released it on YouTube; Little did they know that their song would start trending and gain a lot of views. This attracted American-based music label Black Market Records, which signed them immediately.

The Hunter

The Hunter (Anthony Paschal) is a bongo artist from Mwanza, Tanzania. The Hunter got his name from a close friend because of his hard work and drive. He started his music career in 2011, while still in high school. In 2014, The Hunter recorded his first audio track called ‘Crazy'.

In 2018 he contacted Black Market Records via Instagram and was informed that they had opened a new studio in Kenya. It took him a few months to save enough money for a one-way bus ticket for a 21-hour bus ride from Mwanza, Tanzania to Nairobi for auditions. Cedric Singleton CEO of Black Market Records was already impressed with the demos. He informed the studio to sign him when he arrives, and upon his arrival, The Hunter was signed to the label. He has songs like Binti Marietha, String Love, among others. Has collaborations with artists such as Joefes, Ally, Tatinomi from Kenya, Kalu and Shadrack from Zambia, and Cobra from Tanzania.
