Lavender oil toxicity[edit]

From the conclusions in this Australian study, oral consumption could produce "severe toxicity ...caused by as little as 5 mL". The study addressed several possible essential oils, including lavender. The study is often quoted as a toxicity warning against consuming essential oils by mouth, especially for children. Hope this clarifies the issue for you. Zefr (talk) 15:09, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but essential oils aren't all the same and that sentence has a citation (#3), a paper by A. Woolf which is talking about 5ml of eucalyptus oil not lavender. The same study you cite says "They can, however, cause severe toxicity when ingested, the risk depending on the oil used; the onset of toxicity can be rapid, and small quantities (as little as 5 mL) can cause life-threatening toxicity in children.", unless you have a quote that specifically mentions lavender, I don't think the 5 ml number is well sourced.
