Speedy deletion nomination of LilMissFly6

[edit]

Hello LilMissFly6,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged LilMissFly6 for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Σσς(Sigma) 07:32, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on LilMissFly6 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Amartyabag TALK2ME 09:25, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

[edit]

Hello, LilMissFly6, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Deleted entry

[edit]

I've deleted the entry you wrote on yourself and have tagged your userpage for deletion, but I thought I should explain why since there were several reasons and since you're new to Wikipedia, you might not be aware of them.

First off, there was a complete lack of coverage in reliable sources. By this I mean sources that are not released by you, are not links to merchant sites, and are by people that Wikipedia considers to be reliable. This almost always translates into coverage in newspapers, websites such as MTV.com, or other websites or shows other than non-notable blogs, local access shows, or podcasts. I did do a search and I didn't see where you've really gotten that much coverage yet. You do have some hits in Google, but the amount of things that come up in a search don't contribute towards notability. You exist (obviously), but existing is not notability. Also, posting about yourself or something that you're involved in is seen as a conflict of interest and while it's not technically against the rules to do so, it is frowned upon. (WP:ITEXISTS, WP:RS, WP:MUSBIO, WP:COI)

Now even if the lack of sourcing wasn't a factor, there's also the issue that your page was a pretty obvious promotion for yourself. This would have gotten the page deleted on this basis alone and is why I've nominated your user page for deletion. Wikipedia is not a place to promote yourself. I'd have left your userpage if it wasn't so promotionally written. You can write about yourself on your user page, but phrases such as "her sound is unmistakable – daring, honest and unique" and following that up with locations to download/buy your stuff is seen as spam. I'm not trying to really discourage you from contributing, just trying to make you understand that this goes against several rules here on Wikipedia. I'm not going to block you or anything since I really don't think you really knew about the rules against self-promotion, but I do want to extend a warning that further edits like this could lead to you being blocked.
