Hollis Hammonds

Hello, just been reading this. I'm a bit concerned about the picture of Hammonds - how did you hear from the photographer that they had CC-licensed the photo? This is not stated on her faculty website where the photo is posted. Blythwood (talk) 19:35, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reading. It was part of a directory of faculty which I considered a fair use image that is why it chose it likethecolorduh (talk) 20:32, 5 March 2016 (UTC)likethecolorduh[reply]

I'm sorry, but we can't use it in that case. Wikipedia has tight limits on fair use. If you want to upload a fair use image, go to Wikipedia:File_Upload_Wizard - you'll see that the only category of fair use to illustrate articles on people is for people who are no longer alive. (You uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, which doesn't take fair use images.) You might want to write to Ms. Hammonds and ask her if she has a photo of herself that she holds all rights to and would be happy to donate. Sorry about this, but there's no automatic need for a Wikipedia article to have a picture - indeed, at the moment I'm trying to get a photo for one of my own articles on someone but haven't yet.
