Welcome![edit]

Hi Lf8u2! I noticed your contributions and wanted to welcome you to the Wikipedia community. I hope you like it here and decide to stay.

I've noticed that you've expressed an interest in the Arab–Israeli conflict. Unfortunately, due to a history of conflict and disruptive editing it has been designated a contentious topic and is subject to some strict rules.

The rule that affects you most as a new or IP editor is the prohibition on making any edit related to the Arab–Israel conflict unless you are logged into an account and that account is at least 30 days old and has made at least 500 edits.

This prohibition is broadly construed, so it includes edits such as adding the reaction of a public figure concerning the conflict to their article or noting the position of a company or organization as it relates to the conflict.

The exception to this rule is that you may request a specific change to an article on the talk page of that article or at this page. Please ensure that your requested edit complies with our neutral point of view and reliable sourcing policies, and if the edit is about a living person our policies on biographies of living people as well.

Any edits you make contrary to these rules are likely to be reverted, and repeated violations can lead to you being blocked from editing.

Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Accepted, and kind of a newcomer here too so only getting to things.
Just felt it would have been okay to include within the conspiracy section even though it was the personal opinion of a CIA officer at the time.
Tucker can be contentious also.. Agreed Lf8u2 (talk) 04:27, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Welcome @Lf8u2 to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Please be aware that all claims of fact must be supported by a reliable source. You recently introduced a reference citing Tucker Carlson and a guest on his show. Mr. Carlson is not a reliable source as he is known to have made demonstrably false claims and promote WP:FRINGE conspiracy theories. Accordingly, I have reverted your good faith edit. Best regards... -Ad Orientem (talk) 04:28, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Ad Orientem for information Lf8u2 (talk) 04:30, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Charlie O'Brien (singer), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hi CycloneYoris, I tried editing same and adding some neutral additional links but it would not allow me to do the same. I would also cite than all the documentaries are linked to the IMDb website where they all are. This is not promoting or advertising Lf8u2 (talk) 23:50, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will move the page to draft so you can improve it there. Please note that IMDb and other user-generated sites do not count as reliable sources. See WP:Reliable sources for further information. CycloneYoris talk! 23:55, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just moved it to draft space. Draft:Charlie O'Brien (singer) -Ad Orientem (talk) 23:58, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Ad Orientem Lf8u2 (talk) 00:00, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've done some general cleanup on the draft and removed any language that sounded a little too fluffy. This allowed me to remove the advert maintenance tag. The two remaining issues are that a great deal of the page is unsourced and most of the existing sources fail WP:RS. This in turn raises questions about the encyclopedic notability of the subject. I would encourage you to read WP:BASIC, WP:NARTIST, and WP:SINGER. Then take some time and try to find sources to cover the uncited claims of fact, which will help to establish the subject's notability. Once that is done, you can go ahead and submit the draft for approval to be moved back into the mainspace. There is no rush on this, but don't completely ignore the draft. Abandoned drafts are eventually deleted. -Ad Orientem (talk) 15:55, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Charlie O'Brien / "my travels"?[edit]

Information icon Hello, Lf8u2. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Guliolopez (talk) 18:29, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for advice @Guliolopez. Lf8u2 (talk) 17:54, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

COPYVIO / COI[edit]

Hi. Much of the content of Draft:Charlie O'Brien (singer) is, according to related copyvio checks, taken verbatim from the Charlieobrien.net website. Where it is labelled as "© Charlie O' Brien 2012". This is not a Commons-compatible licence. If:

  • you are the author of that website, please see WP:DCM for how to donate copyrighted materials (and WP:COI for the policies and norms on writing articles about yourself).
  • you are not the author of that website, please see WP:COPYVIO for more information on the norms/policies on copyright violations.

Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 18:34, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Lf8u2 I have deleted the draft for copyright violations. That's a non-negotiable no-no around here. Beyond that, the article was poorly sourced with little evidence that the subject would pass community standards for encyclopedic notability. Of the sources that were cited, only one was likely pass WP:RS. Assuming you don't have a connection to Charlie, feel free to try again if you can find sources that meet our guidelines and, importantly, are independent of the subject. See the links above and in the welcome template farther up on your page for help with copyright. Please don't get discouraged. Wikipedia has a learning curve, but it's not too steep. Disambiguation link notification for June 5[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Mennonites, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chihuahua. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 05:56, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

COPYVIO[edit]

Hi. As above, please do not just copy-and-paste content directly and verbatim from sources. As you did here. Per COPYVIO detector. Please see WP:COPYVIO and WP:CLOP. Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 21:50, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
