Madonna singles discog

Well, the good news is that most of the data you would need is already there, and most of it is pretty well-referenced. The bad news is that stylistically, it's a bit of a mess at the moment. And with lists such as discographies that are so data-heavy, style is really half the battle. For now I'd rather avoid going through a point-by-point critique of the list, but here's a few of the more labor-intensive suggestions I have, so that if you want to get started on that you can.

  • The chart positions need to be re-ordered, per MOS:DISCOG. That's gonna be a huge annoying task right there, I don't envy you.
  • The sum totals at the end of the singles table seems a little celebratory to me. 4 seperate rows seems a little too much for me. Personally I'd go with just two (#1 and Top 10), but that's just me. There's no consensus on this exactly, so I'll let you be the judge of that. But the empty cells on either side should ideally be removed. Take a look at what I did for the first table in Sonic Youth discography for an example of something that would be good.
  • The "Promotional singles" table needs to be reformatted a bunch, ideally as closely as possible to the other singles chart. I think you could scrap the Cat. No. column completely.
  • The last couple sections should ideally be table-ized as well. Cut out the prose, boil things down to their essentials.
  • B-sides are typically not included in discographies.

That should be a good start. I highly recommend taking a look at MOS:DISCOG for some help, as well as other discographies that have already passed FLC. Let me know if you need some more help or some more ideas on what to work on. Drewcifer (talk) 09:06, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi!!

Hello there! What's up? :) How's the Madonna project coming along? Anyone else helping you out? :) I apologize for not being able to help out with the Madonna articles; as I told you recently, life has been so hectic for me... no fun at all. However, I am so happy to see the incredible amount of work you have done. It's great to see such talented artists finally get great looking articles! So, what is going on in your life? I hope all is well! CarpetCrawlermessage me 15:33, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey hey hey. I'm absolutely fine! And kudos on you that you are doing these wonderful things in your life! How's everything coming along with the chica? About Madonna wikiproject it seems that I am the only one who is concerned at all about the state of the articles they are in. People are randomly adding shit in the articles. Prolific editors like Bookkeeper are only concerned with the biography article only. Hence, yeah it is kinda stressing me out! But oh well, I love doing it!! --Legolas (talk2me) 03:29, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello, Legolas2186. You have new messages at Pokerdance's talk page.

Good Topic

Hi Legolas, ohh I didn't notice it alredy passed it's GA nomination, sure go ahead and nominate the articles, my first good topic, and I believe yours also, and the first one of the Madonna Wikiproject :) And yes I heard the song, what really bothers me is that probably Madonna won't do much promotion, and wouldn't make a big impact in the U.S., I think it will be big in Europe. Regards. Frcm1988 (talk) 05:19, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

I alredy was changing the references in "Open Your Heart", so it will be consitent with "Live to Tell", "Papa Don't Preach" and "True Blue". You can do "La Isla Bonita", that way we finished faster, I have no clue how to do the alt text. And don't worry about your FAC, if the article dosen't pass at least you have a very profund review, that always a good thing to keep improving the article, you have a better feedback than my FAC nomination of "Papa Don't Preach". Frcm1988 (talk) 05:32, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Yes at least you have comments on how to improve the article, that user keep saying that I should withdraw the nomination and work on it. At least he could leave useful comments, well it's all in the past now.
Hi Legolas, I read the guideline for images and see this: "Do not place left-aligned images directly below a subsection-level heading (=== or lower)." For example in the "Papa Don't Preach" article, the "Music Video" is a subsection level heading ==, so the image can go below it, the same in "Live to Tell" and "Open Your Heart". Another example in "Papa Don't Preach" is the "Reception" which is level heading 2, while the "Critical response" and "Chart performance" are level 3. Agree on the "True Blue" image, I will try to figure out something to fixed it. Regards. Frcm1988 (talk) 17:45, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Hi again Legolas, yes I see the comments, I have no doubts the topic will pass. Please go ahead and add the alt text, I think I couldn't describe the images that literally. I am pretty sure the articles are strong enough, we may have a potential Featured Topic in our hands, the thing is that we must find someone that can do a copyedit to them, someone that is not involved, because I tell you I seen the articles a million times and couldn't find the mistakes anymore. In the meantime I think you could put "Open Your Heart" or "La Isla Bonita" on peer review, that will really help to improve it, I am not saying to nominated them right after the review, but is always good to see what others think could be improved. I will try to help with the articles, right now Im very far behind with some of the things I wanted to do here, I have to finish the article in my sandbox, wait for the review on the "Hold Me Now" article, create a Reception section in "Take on Me", a Cover versions section in "West End Girls", and the worst thing of all is that the GA Sweeps is almost over for the articles before August 2007, and they are going to start to the ones between September 2007 and August 2008, so that means I have to update the 3 Spice Girls' articles I did back in 2007, which is a real pain, specially because I have to convert the references with templates, and some of them don't work anymore. Regards Frcm1988 (talk) 01:28, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
Hi Legolas, yes I see it finally passed, and sorry about "4 Minutes", just put it to peer review again and renominate after, dont give up!!!! By the way I wanna warn you about User:Petergriffin9901, he has an old history of adding innacurate sales in favor of Mariah Carey, and I didn't notice this before, but he also lower the sales for Mariah's "rivals" namely Madonna and Whitney Houston. Some months ago one user thought that I was a sockpuppet of this user even though I never edited a Mariah article and never plan to.(hate her) Just see this [1] and this [2] totally ridicolous well at least it didn't get worse. So please keep an eye on the user. Have a great day, regards. Frcm1988 (talk) 21:29, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

My God, nearly 400 articles, I would go insane, I only have 85. So do you have any projects right now? Regards. Frcm1988 (talk) 00:56, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Billboard

Hey there. Would you happen to know if Billboard archive their music charts? I need an archive of the current Heatseekers chart and Hot Digital Songs for some articles I am working on before the next issue. Thanks :) • вяαdcяochat 06:45, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes they do. But since Billboard revamped their site all those urls have now been lost. Hence you won't find them in http://www.billboard.com . However you can try http://www.billboardmagazine.com which is still active and archiving the charts. In the search panel type the song name followed by the charts, for eg: "Lady Gaga Paparazzi Canadian Hot 100". It will give you listings for each week. --Legolas (talk2me) 07:59, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your help.• вяαdcяochat 08:09, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Request

Hi Legolas2186, I noticed from the Indian Cinema Task Force board that you watch articles on new and upcoming films. I wonder if I can ask you to put this article on your watchlist: My Name Is Khan an upcoming SRK film which has from time to time attracted vandalism due to its subject matter. The last few days, for example, have seen quite a bit of activity of this nature. I'm trying to give myself a wikibreak for a few weeks, though I've been just watching this one page for vandalism. It would be nice to have some more editors watching the page. I also put a notice on WP:ANI. Thanks, -Classicfilms (talk) 00:26, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Thank You!! Now I feel better about taking a vacation...but I'll pop in from time to time. -Classicfilms (talk) 04:10, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

I can't seem to find a picture, or enough information about Fame Ball performances to warrant a section. Could you possibly assist? I would greatly appreciate it. POKERdance talk/contribs 05:19, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

If you check the sources for the critical receptions present in the Fame Ball tour article, they have little by little accounts about Gaga's performance of the song on the tour. The main image from the bio article is the performance of BDR on the tour. You can probably couple up the chart performance and live performance together to warranty a bulky section. Its permitable in GA. Also I just reverted some of your change in The Fame article. As we have explained before, not everyone watches with the same browser settings and elongating the infobox will cause problem for them. Also Cherrytree Sessions fails notability as an album, it is defined as an EP only since only three songs and < 25 mins timeplay. --Legolas (talk2me) 05:26, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
The description of the main image says she's performing "Paparazzi." Thank you for your assistance in everything else though. POKERdance talk/contribs 05:35, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
That's definitely not Paparazzi. Believe me, I went to the Fame Ball tour. Paparazzi was always performed inside the metal plates and Lovegame with the discostick. I guess the uploader made a mistake. --Legolas (talk2me) 05:39, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
OK, but I looked in the references and none of them seem to mention "Dirty Rich" outside of the setlist. POKERdance talk/contribs 05:45, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
You won't find exact description. but you can enhance on the choreography, dress and performance by taking it from the description of other performances which were critically reviewed. Also decription of the performance like music video doesnot need to be heavily cited since it is just commentary and not third party review. If you want I can add the info. --Legolas (talk2me) 06:09, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

BEDTIME STORIES

Hey its me! I was just wondering why did you remove the alternate covr image from the Bedtime Stories (Madonna album) article?? I read the cirterias you say it doesnt meeet, but is that just the image or the whole section? cause if i remember well that section and that image (not mine but the upside down one was there for a pretty long time) I would appreciate it if you would leave me a message on my talk page. Infobox change on Beautiful, Dirty, Rich

Can you please tell me why you changed the type of infobox on Beautiful, Dirty, Rich? I don't think there's any type of notability requirements for having a Single infobox over a Song one. But if there is, feel free to correct me. POKERdance talk/contribs 04:06, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Actually I believe the song was never used as a single, though intended to be. Hence BDR became the promo song for the DSM soap. The lady gaga.com discography page gives us the list of releases, whether as a single or song is not listed there. Hence the only notability of it is gained as a song only. That is why I changed the infobox. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:13, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
There's a single cover for it, Gaga's official website gives a release date and also says it was released as a single... And isn't official information the most important? I think it's safe to say that it was a promotional single and not just a regular song. POKERdance talk/contribs 04:17, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Even I also believe that it was a promotional single. However, Gaga's site lists it as one of the official releases, not as a single release (I checked it again). So, question is how do we know whether its a single release? Answer is search in the news or any other verifiable source. I searched, but found that BDR is listed only as the song used for DSM soap. So, I believe BDR can be listed as an extremely notable song. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:20, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
I would say that we would know that it's a single release from this, which specifically says "Format / Edition(s): Single." It even has a cover and release date. POKERdance talk/contribs 04:26, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Hmm. I have to say I agree now. allright I'll revert back to hte last change on BDR. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:28, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
I agree with the removal of the chronology, I was even rather unsure when I was adding it in as we obviously aren't going to do that for "Christmas Tree" which was also a single. However, I still think that Cherrytree should be in the chronology on The Fame. I started a discussion on the talk page; feel free to voice your opinion there. re: GA film articles...

Hi Legolas2186 - Excellent and observant point. Normally I approach film articles in stages. During the period prior to release, it is in somewhat of a dynamic/draft stage since it is difficult to tell what will be saved and what will be deleted. Normally, I don't format refs at this time. After the film is released, then the article usually goes through an overhaul, weeding out what is really relevant to the overall quality of the article. That being said, yes, it isn't a bad idea to format refs. It is my least favorite activity on the WP :-) but I would certainly be open to it if I had a little help. Perhaps after the film releases next year, the GA question can be revisited. I would be keen to bring Taare Zameen Par to GA level if that is a film you are interested in writing about and have been waiting for other editors to work on it. Let me know if you think it is one to work on. Thanks for your help with these articles. -Classicfilms (talk) 05:58, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Well, it takes practice. I worked with a few people to bring Lage Raho Munna Bhai first to GA then FA and brought Chak De India to GA myself. I'm not certain why your GAC failed but perhaps reviewing the above GAs will offer some tips. I would really appreciate help with refs. Please use the tool, tweak, delete, add at will. And it would be fantastic to bring TZP to FAC (or Chak De India). I haven't used the tool myself so I will watch you use it and learn how it functions. Thanks again, -Classicfilms (talk) 06:19, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
And I assume you are familiar with MOS:FILM. -Classicfilms (talk) 06:22, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Fantastic. By all means, fix any and all issues with Chak De. Music/soundtrack help will be great since that is not an area I am familiar with. The Madonna project should be similar to MOS:Film. TZP, CDI, and LRMB all pretty much follow the basic structure but as you can see there is flexibility. TZP needs more development before it can advance to GA (particularly in production and music related areas). And as I said, I really appreciate edits and fixes to Chak De. GA's and FA's usually occur when multiple editors work on an article so if you can also encourage other editors to work on them as well, that would help. Looking forward to seeing your work. -Classicfilms (talk) 06:58, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Lady Gaga

If that's the case, you should have just deleted that part of the paragraph, rather than the whole thing. That said, I believe that the qoute should remain in the article, as it is another reminder of Gaga's love for the gay community. Perhaps it should be moved to that section? Tikkuy (talk) 08:54, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Chillin is an officially released single and should be treated as such. Just because you don't like it there does not mean it cannot be there. It's like saying that Poker Face shouldn't be mentioned. This tendency of edit warring better stop Legolas2186. Tikkuy (talk) 08:59, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
As I said, first of all, the source fails WP:RS and not every damn thing the artist says is encyclopedic. There are far better reliable sources backing her credibility as a gay icon. Perhaps you should read the article. --Legolas (talk2me) 08:56, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Perhaps you should stop being rude and read Wikipedia:Civility. And, in actual fact, the source does not fail RS. That's just one of the many excuses you often put forward to justify your deletion of material. Tikkuy (talk) 09:01, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Then why did you delete Chillin to begin with? Just because you see one line you don't like does not mean you have the right to delete a whole paragraph. Also, you may want to take a look at what the "community as a whole" is thinking of you, because all I'm seeing are disgruntled and annoyed people who have continually had to face your selfishness and tyranny. Oh, and I have absolutely no idea what you said in that last line. Tikkuy (talk) 09:07, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Replied. And LOL at the disgruntled and annoyed people who have continually had to face your selfishness and tyranny. I really donot care for fancrufty and unsourced additions and will revert it always. --Legolas (talk2me) 09:13, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
That's okay. Sorry if I offended you. So would you be opposed to adding the line about Chillin and the line about the tour without that quote? There's some other quotes we can use [here|http://www.yoraps.com/news1.php?subaction=showfull&id=1250276135&archive=&start_from=&ucat=1&] if you'd prefer. Tikkuy (talk) 09:16, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Lol, I do understand that a lot of unsourced material gets added. Just watch what you delete, as I think you somtimes accidentally remove verifiable information when you're deleting unverifiable information. Tikkuy (talk) 09:16, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Okay. I'll add back the original MTV source, then. Tikkuy (talk) 09:33, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
I hope that's okay now. Tikkuy (talk) 09:38, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. :) Couldn't have done it without you. I'll see if we can somehow include that info in the MTV article into the page. Tikkuy (talk) 10:23, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Re:Ole

Hehe Mexican :D I am ok I guess. Just finished off some homework, lols. • вяαdcяochat 09:06, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Yup. Had some lovely mexican food for lunch, hence the expression :P. By the way, seems like you are having some trouble at the release date thing. So I have already replied at the talk page of Eh, Eh. --Legolas (talk2me) 09:11, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
I just saw your reply at the Eh, Eh talk page then. Thanks heaps for that. I just wished to ensure that what I thought was correct because the radio can play a song whether it is avaliable for sale or not at any time they desire. • вяαdcяochat 09:15, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
I am having troubles with my iPod. I restored my computer the other day because it was having a lot of problems. I backed up all my music and loaded it on again but my iPod will not sync. I am trying a second time now. I'm gonna go crazy if I can't get it working. • вяαdcяochat 09:44, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Thats unfortunate. I really hope I can get all my songs back. I have years and years worth of music. • вяαdcяochat 09:52, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Whoopie! The sync just finished then. It took so long because of all the music I had. It worked! Yay! • вяαdcяochat 09:56, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Lol. It is such a good song! It didn't make it to the singles chart but debuted at #31 on the digital track chart. • вяαdcяochat 10:06, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
The video should be good. I don't think there is any permanent link to the digital track chart which is a shame. I know Pandora archive but I am not sure if the digital track chart is included. They are way behind also. I think they haven't even got up to archiving June yet :S. I also can't wait for this years MTV Awards. It is going to be so-so-so amazing! I hope Gaga wins something atleast! There has been so much media attention on her lately with the whole gender and hermaphrodite issue though. I don't believe any of it. Probably just rumours. • вяαdcяochat 11:06, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

A suggestion

I'd like to suggest that in the future you keep your opinions on which of my edits are unnecessary or not to yourself. That part of your edit summary came off as a tad rude. --Rockfang (talk) 08:43, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Kareena Kapoor

Hello User:Legolas2186!! My name is Rahul and I have come to ask a favor from you. I am planning to nominate Kareena Kapoor's article for FA status sometime by the end of this year or early next year. I am looking for people that can help copyedit the article and was wondering whether you would be willing to help me. User:Dr. Blofeld, User:Shshshsh and I have already looked into the article for a long time and it is about time we have some new people look into the article. I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me with the article. Regards -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 02:26, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Thank you very much for taking out the time to look at the article. I really appreciate it. I have understood all the points that you have outlined though I am confused about two things. Are you asking me to combine the personal life, other works & in the media all into one section?? If that is the case, it would be quite difficult to do so. The inspiration of creating these three sections was done by looking at the articles of Angelina Jolie and Preity Zinta. Furthermore if that is really the case, wouldn't it ruin the flow of the article. Lastly, I am not sure what you meant by your last point of having an "influences section regarding Kareena's styles and iconography". -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 17:11, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
If you don't mind, could you kindly do so?? Having a draft of how the article should look like after merging the personal life section would definitely help. As for the iconography part, it definitely sounds like a good idea. I'll try looking for sources outlining this point. Once I have come across enough sources, I'll begin writing the section. (P.S. Thanks for your help with this article! :)) -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 13:19, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi Legolas2186 - I have also been discussing the article with Bollywood Dreamz on User Talk:Classicfilms. Could you read that discussion and take my suggestion about the "personal life" section in mind when you are drafting your version of the article? I have suggested some material be removed and the reasons why there. Thanks, -Classicfilms (talk) 14:25, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Looks good. I would support this version over the current one. -Classicfilms (talk) 13:07, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
To be quite honest Legolas2186, I liked how you incorporated the personal life with her biography though I am not that big of a fan on merging the "other works" and part of "in the media" with her biography. Upon reading the new version, the article doesn't flow properly. As a matter of fact, it gets a little confusing. In the beginning, you are reading about one of Kapoor's film and then it suddenly shifts to her media appearances and then back again to her films. IMO, if we were to have separate sections for her media app and (other work), it would be easier for someone to read the article. As of now, I think that merging the personal life with her biography is definitely a good idea though I think we should leave the other sections separately. What do you say?? (P.S. Dost, I am going to keep a copy of the new version of Kapoor's article you have in your sandbox for myself. From there, I will commence editing the page and make some changes, which I will later on save in the article itself. Hope that is okay with you!!)-- Bollywood Dreamz talk 16:34, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
Having separate sections for her "other work" and "in the media" are there to talk about the other things she has done in her life such as her participating in humanitarian causes, taking part in world tours, etc. If we were to keep those sections, it would be easier for the reader to follow through the article and obtain information from the different things she has done in her life. I also noticed that in your sandbox, you had added the fact about Kapoor being close to her family, etc. Does the first paragraph in this section belong there? -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 15:50, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

GA noms

Good work on the Holiday article, I passed it's GA nom earlier today. I'm also glad to see you've got so many other articles already up for nomination. That said, I'd like to personally ask you to help keep the GA process moving and to review a few articles yourself. Personally, whenever I nominate an article of my own, I try and review at least a couple other articles, so that even though I've added my own nomination, I've had a positive net impact on the growing que rather than a negative one. Since you have so many articles up for nomination at the moment, I just wanted to suggest the same to you. Thanks for your hard work! Drewcifer (talk) 06:57, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Just renminate the article rightr away, and let people who supported it the first time know right away that it's been renominated. It usually takes one or two FACs to make it though; this is normal. Drewcifer (talk) 15:26, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

I wrote "In the UK and Ireland, it was only released as part of The Fame album, not as an official single. As as result, it only reached these chart positions before it was pulled/removed from the charts. It will be officially released on September 21st, 2009 in the UK and Ireland." on the article as it is what happened, it is not "IP vandalism" --Keithf2008 (talk) 18:40, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Thank you. :) Man, I would be exhausted too, especially on the hard research you do for the articles. :P Yeah, I hear ya, I have 13 noms at GAN, so I need to review articles to help the backlog. Well, there's your mission, help and then work on another project. ;) Keep it up. P.S. Congrats on your GT. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 15:31, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I just remembered about the GT. Oops. Thank you. Both me and User:Theleftorium are doing our part for the show. I love the show, I loved how outrageous it was, I figured expanding episodes would be the way to go. :) I also love Karen. Man, that sucks. But hey, at least you got to see the show... late. You wanna work on episodes? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 15:46, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey dear Legolas and thanks for the message. I think this format is fair enough. However, if we write a biography about a person, not always can his career and personal life be merged. In the case of, say, Bette Davis, your format makes much more sense, as it covers the entire biogrpahy of a person who is no longer alive and whose personal life is only a matter of mention and not total description. But if it's Angelina Jolie, who is known both as an actress and a social activist and whose personal life is much longer and is not really related to her career as an actor, this format is confusing. Readers often want to concentrate on one aspect of a person's life, and this would make a total mess. So is the case of Kareena Kapoor, who, despite being famous for her work as an actor, has a personal life which must be discussed individually. In general, young actors' biographies cannot have merged career and personal life sections - as there is much more to write about them. I don't think an article can discuss Kapoor's performance in Omkara, and while the reader wants to know more of her following releases, it starts mentioning her media activities. Structure is generally made by common sense. In this case, I think a well-structured article is an an article that discusses different aspects of an actor's life separately. ShahidTalk2me 10:52, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Your way of thinking is very similar to mine. The answer to your question ("Can every relationship possibly be notable?") is of course no. Personal life should be factual and every detail should be carefully reviewed. I must tell you that at the beginning I was very confused about what I should or should not have added. Then I decided that only the most notable facts would be added.
Have you talked to user:Bollywood Dreamz about this? ShahidTalk2me 11:40, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
Yes indeed - some people just love to be sarcastic and cynical, and some oppose for no reason. I do respect Tony1, but never get why he is so influential. I'm pretty sure that hadn't he withdrawn his oppose, Zinta wouldn't have been an FA. On the contrary, the fact that he withdrew his oppose helped the aricle get promoted. ShahidTalk2me 12:12, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey Stifle. I believe you are aware of this user and his continuous WP:NFCC violating uploads? However, now its getting ridiculous and out of hand. Inspite of User:J Milburn warning him for an impending block, the user is continuing uploading a number of images grossly failing WP:NFCC. I just got around removing all of them from the Madonna articles and orphan warnings have appeared on his talk page. I'm afraid the user will try to add them back again despite repeated explanations regarding WP:NFCC. What do you propose for action? --Legolas (talk2me) 12:42, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

I would recommend raising a report at WP:AN or possibly a WP:RFC. Stifle (talk) 14:13, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
Actually in fairness, he doesn't seem to have uploaded anything since J Milburn's final final warning. So I am inclined to leave it be for now. Stifle (talk) 14:15, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
Well uploaded the File:Holidayliveperformances.jpg just yesterday, although a similar file exists in teh article Holiday (Madonna song). Problem is, the file uploading contribution of this user shows that he is uploading files, which are already properly licensed, over and over again, probably just to ensure that his pictures are put in the article. Repeated explanations by J Milburn regarding these aspects are evading his actions, that's why I'm concerned. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:12, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
OK, blocked for 24 hours. Stifle (talk) 08:16, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

The Fame

I know your a fan of lady gaga, but there is no source proving that the album has sold that amount, please explain why you removed the citation needed clause.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 07:37, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Content which is already sourced in the body of an article, doesnot need to be cited. Please go through WP:LEAD first.--Legolas (talk2me) 07:52, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
It is not proven or sourced in the body of the article, and it peaked at number 4 sounds way more appropriate than reached as high as position 4 your just trying and make it sound as if her accomplishments are great, well 4 on the billboard 200 is nothing special, so dont try and make it sound it.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 09:57, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
It is sourced in the article body. Please read carefully and stop making the language crappy. You are already on a tight leash. --Legolas (talk2me) 10:00, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Just so you know, I am not pushing the lines of my leash, its not my fault if your a gaga fan and want it to sound as if number4 is something special or as if she sounds half as good as gwen stefani. My probation ends in 3 weeks FYI.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 10:03, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

I mean honestly what sounds more appropriate to you.? In the United states the album has peaked at number 4 on the billoard 200....or In the united states the album has reached as high as position 4 on the billoard 200. Your making it sound so flawed, i say this as a fan of hers as well.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 10:04, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm talking about you not reading WP:LEAD and the article and coming about whining in my talkpage that its not sourced. The album has still not descended from the charts and to say that it reached its peak will be WP:CRYSTAL. Please donot accuse people of fancruft when you yourself got your self blocked for your vandalism on the Mariah Carey articles. And stop trolling my talkpage. --Legolas (talk2me) 10:13, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

The problem is your failing to just read the little issue there is and answer the question. Which of the two lines sound more sensible?--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 20:47, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

If those other shows around the world are not the fame ball tour, what are they part of?--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 06:05, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Hello

Hi! I saw all the GAs you wrote for Madonna (congrats!) and I was hoping for some advice. See, I want to improve the quality of the articles regarding Lily Allen's singles , but I cannot find any good sources! Actually, a simple Google search will only get me to lyrics sites. What can I do? Where do you get your sources? Are there any specialized sites?
On another issue, how do you feel about the Celebration tracklist? I am very dissapointed because "True Blue", "Bad Girl", "Causing a Commotion", and especially "American Life" are missing from the CD... But my biggest dissapointment is "Revolver". Why would she work with that excuse for a rapper? She's supposed to be the queen of pop, I cannot believe she has a song with that low-life (sorry if you are a Lil Wayne fan); I've heard the demo (I just hope it's only a demo) of the song on YouTube, and, if it is her song, it's her weakest track ever! It sounds just like Britney (now you understand why I think it's horrible). Sorry if I wasted your time, I just wanted some advice with the sources. Thanks! ^_^ --12345abcxyz20082009 (talk) 14:15, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

No problem at all. First of all I'm defintely not a Lil Wayne fan. But the actual version of "Revolver" sounds pretty good. It is true that the song is a little deviated towards the US market. But the DVD tracklisting is just smokin! Regarding the Madonna GAs, try searching in google books, thats where I get my sources. Now since you wanna develop the Lily Allen articles, I don't think that you'll get that much from google books since she is not a veteran artist. Try MTV news for it. That's a very reliable source. --Legolas (talk2me) 03:23, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Thaks a lot! I searched the web for hours, but I eventually found some good stuff. I only need one more thing and I was hoping you could help me; what does this mean: [3] ? The only thing I understand is that it's 136 beats per minute. What does the rest stand for? --12345abcxyz20082009 (talk) 01:32, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Re:4 Minutes

I'd like to do a sweep of the prose before you resubmit. I'll try to take a look on Friday; if not then, Sunday or Monday. Dabomb87 (talk) 03:08, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. Take your time. --Legolas (talk2me) 08:45, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I was busier than expected over the weekend. I'll finish up later this week. In the meantime, you might want to ask Tony to check if the article's up to snuff now. Dabomb87 (talk) 23:25, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Copyright vio

Hey Stifle. Isn't this image File:Madonna&JohnBenitez.jpg a gross violation of living person's copyright? Then how is this being used in that particular article? --Legolas (talk2me) 08:32, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes, this is a replaceable fair use image and I have tagged it accordingly. Stifle (talk) 08:36, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

can this image be moved to Commons, thank you --SveroH (talk) 08:23, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Re:The Fame

Yeah. I have read the review. I guess it is just the grammar that is getting in the way. At least the reviewer has indicated what can and should be improved. • вяαdcяochat 09:23, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Ha ha. I found the review quite good and proper. I myself am reviewing Kelly Clarkson which sadly, I have to fail. By the way did you listen to the new Mika song "We Are Golden"? Its good. Also, only a few hours to wait for the "Celebration" video to premiere. --Legolas (talk2me) 09:28, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
I agree. We Are Golden is a really-really good song. I think it is going to be another worldwide hit for Mika. I have seen the preview of the new Madonna video but strangely enough, it was to the Benny Benassi remix of the song showing cuts of individuals dancing to the music. Can't wait for the full thing though! Is Kelly Clarkson your first GA review? • вяαdcяochat 09:34, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Oh you have seen the preview? I haven't even seen that :( Oh well, few hours to go. And yes, Clarkson is my first GA review. I thought of starting GA reviews for the music articles. And its high time I did because most of the time, the GAs are filled by my Madonna articles only. (25 articles in 2 months!) So its fair that I review some of them and remove the backlog. --Legolas (talk2me) 09:38, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
I saw it on some site a couple of days ago. I honestly can't remeber what it was sorry. I'm sure you would probably be able to watch it on YouTube though, but as you said there is only a few hours to go until the full thing :) • вяαdcяochat 09:44, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeahh just waiting for that. Hope it gives the song some boost to make it chart higher in the low-chartign nations like Oz & US. Although the lack of any promotion will make it suffer eventually. Why doesn't Madonna do any promotion, I don't understand. --Legolas (talk2me) 09:52, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
It debuted at number 40 on the ARIA Singles Chart last week but unfortunately, this week it is no where to be seen. It has also dropped out of the iTunes Aus Top 100 songs :( I am not sure about how it is performing in the U.S. but I think I remember that it debuted on the Hot 100. Anyway, I am waiting for Gaga to release her next single. I read that LoveGame will be the fourth UK single since Paparazzi was released as the third one over there. Paparazzi is increasing in populairty in the U.S. on iTunes but it is falling rapidly in Australia. Perhaps she will wait untill she releases The Fame: Monster since Australia is a little ahead in singles. • вяαdcяochat 10:14, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

The Fame has sold 3 million copies worldwide, you seem to be in charge of this page, yet don't seem to know very much about Lady Gaga. She has said in interviews she has sold 4 million copies worldwide but it's not a "reliable source" coming from her mouth and all. But here is music news website that says the album has sold 3 million. The 2.3 million copies doesn't even have a source. Here is a source from a music news website that says she has sold 3 million copies worldwide: http://top40-charts.com/news.php?nid=50203. Here are other sources from Business Journal: http://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/prnewswire/press_releases/California/2009/07/14/LA46596 [user:thehausofgaga] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thehausofgaga (talkcontribs) 06:44, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Re: W&G

I'm good, how 'bout you? Cool, we should definitely collaborate on some episode articles, that way you get more GAs. :) Um, the prose is not my "biggest" thing, per here, but since you're a friend, I'll see what I can do. But, don't guarantee a miracle. ;) Also, its my favorite song from Hard Candy, so. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 15:26, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Nice. I will sure try my best so you can get your FA. :) Yeah, I was gonna tell you that maybe should get "Hung Up" to FA, due to the info. and stuff, but I'm glad you're doing it. ;) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 14:30, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Okay, so I read the article and everything looks good. This is me, so bear with me, maybe adding the year after the documentary might be helpful, that's just me, really. I'm not a music expert, you know that, but with this ---> "However, he noticed that the "shift in the power structure [is nowhere] more blatant than on '4 Minutes', where Madonna sounds like a featured guest trying to keep pace with Timbaland's colossal beats and Timberlake's nimble melody" could be this ---> "However, he noticed that the shift in the power structure "[is nowhere] more blatant than on '4 Minutes', where Madonna sounds like a featured guest trying to keep pace with Timbaland's colossal beats and Timberlake's nimble melody", that's me [again]. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Aside from it, everything looks good. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 16:01, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
You're welcome, just helping out a friend. :) If you nominate it, good luck with it and I'll see what other people have to say. Yeah, I like the song. It has a very catchy beat. She has a new album? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 18:36, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Celebration music video premiere

Hey! I just downloaded the Celebration video as a free premiere download offer on iTunes. It is unavaliable on the Australian store so I signed up for a U.S. store account and got it! Have you seen it yet? It is so good! • вяαdcяochat 06:20, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

It begins with Madonna wearing a spotty type of dress thing infront of a white backdrop. It then has cuts of Madonna and another person both dancing individually. The amount of dancers increase. Madonna then goes to this club/party and flirts with the DJ in a room full of people. It then shows all the dancers in a circle with the DJ playing the music next to Madonna. It is a pretty sweet video. There is heaps and heaps of dancing in it! • вяαdcяochat 06:34, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
I am trying to think what would be encyclopedic not failing WP:NFCC#8. Perhaps I will upload numerous screenshots to TinyPic and you could choose the best image. • вяαdcяochat 06:45, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
I have uploaded some screenshots online not that I think any comply with WP:NFCC#8 though. Check them out:
• вяαdcяochat 07:05, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Problem is, there are no scenes in the video displaying Madonna surrounded by others in the video besides the DJ. All of them with her show her dancing individually. • вяαdcяochat 08:07, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Hey Legolas. An Australian radio station have leaked the full video online now. You can watch it here. • вяαdcяochat 10:15, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I suppose it is a little bland in someways but i'd have to admit that I did enjoy it with the dancing and all. I did notice that Jesus was the DJ lol. I've heard there is another new song called Revolver featuring Lil Wayne yay! • вяαdcяochat 05:44, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Wow. I didn't see Lourdes in Celebration, but she is in the next video right? • вяαdcяochat 06:21, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
I know that Digital Spy is not a relibale source however, I have just began working on an article where the only review that I can find at this point of time is one from Digital Spy most likely since the song is unreleased. I know reporting on events aren't but do you think reviews may be acceptable from the site? • вяαdcяochat 07:33, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

The Fame Sales Figures

Legolas, for someone reporting on Lady Gaga you don't seem to know very much about her or are unable to find the articles about her. And I only say this because you seem to want to run this page. The 2.3 million needs to be updated because it's UNsourced and UNtrue. Why would you not take a source from Lady Gaga herself yet have a completely unsourced figure on the page? That doesn't even make sense. Here are several *third party* media news outlets that atleast confirm the album has sold 3 million (even though Lady Gaga says 4!): Sawf News: http://news.sawf.org/entertainment/58880.aspx, BizJournal: http://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/prnewswire/press_releases/California/2009/07/14/LA46596 [user:Thehausofgaga] 1 September 2009 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thehausofgaga (talkcontribs) 06:57, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Miss Lady Gaga

Good news. She is coming back to Australia in March 2010 for her own headlining tour! Dates have already been released! • вяαdcяochat 05:46, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

That is fantastic news! How did you find this weeks Hot 100 already? The Billboard site hasn't updated this week for me. Usually I have to wait untill later tonight (my time) for the latest issue. • вяαdcяochat 07:14, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
The site is filtered on Wikipedia so I have put "nowiki" tags around it. Is it: http://pulsemusic.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=gmn&action=display&thread=88653 I can't seem to find the entire Hot 100 list.
• вяαdcяochat 07:35, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
Wow, thanks heaps for that! Who happens to find out all this information before Billboard publish it? • вяαdcяochat 09:32, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
Ooo! French this time. I am impressed. Anyway, I am just improving articles whenever I can I guess.. What about you? • вяαdcяochat 09:22, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Nope. I will have to take a look. I like some of Lily Allen's songs. • вяαdcяochat 09:31, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Ah, yes. I do remember. I never got on that well with him but that is very unfortunate. Tickets go on sale September 16 which is not far away. I hope I will go. I don't know that many Gaga fans though so there is a posibility that I might not go. :( • вяαdcяochat 09:42, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
I was planning to go with my friends but I only know one that is a fan. I would never go with my parents. They think Gaga is a psychopath with her outfits anyway, lol. As you said, Dance-pop is welcome to join me if he wishes. He will just have to fly 3-4 hours from New Zealand haha! He has dissapeared from Wikipedia. There is always a regular sock around but there has not been one for a while now. Strange.. • вяαdcяochat 09:50, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
I suspected a possible sockpuppet, User:Thehausofgaga but I'm not that sure. • вяαdcяochat 09:59, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Hmm.. The way the message was written with all the urls of the sources everywhere in each paragraph was similar to what Dance-pop used to do when posting. But as you said, it is to early to assume anything. • вяαdcяochat 10:09, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Let's hope that it will be another number one! What song will Gaga perform at the VMA's? I can't wait to see what she does. They are broadcasting it on MTV Australia, live I think. If I miss it, I will watch the whole thing online like I did last year. • вяαdcяochat 10:20, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Sounds good! I think it is going to be very memorable! Her performances are always very eye catching! She will blow everyone away as always. • вяαdcяochat 10:31, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Hopefully she will pick up some awards. I certainly think she can. • вяαdcяochat 10:51, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi Stifle, is this File:Aaliyah in blue.jpg a violation of the non-free image of living persons? The rationale I feel is not strong enough. Let me know since I will be reviewing the article for GA. --Legolas (talk2me) 08:34, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

  • It's not a violation, because she's not alive. Stifle (talk) 08:37, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Personally, I'd prefer "... thirteenth No. 1 single ..."; the is required before "UK" as a noun. Tony (talk) 01:13, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

All your hard work

The Music Barnstar
For incredible your efforts on Music articles, especially on Madonna. Your work is appreciated. Aaroncrick (talk)

I'm also going to be reviewing: Jump (Madonna song), Get Together (Madonna song) and Lucky Star (song). Kindest Regards, Aaroncrick (talk) 22:59, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Woww. Can't thank you enough! --Legolas (talk2me) 03:14, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
At first glance the articles look rather good. Aaroncrick (talk) 22:02, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
Comments left at, Talk:Jump (Madonna song)/GA1. Aaroncrick (talk) 01:57, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
OK. I'll go and address them. Thanks. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:41, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Take your time. I've seen how busy you've been. Aaroncrick (talk) 04:45, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

(Outdent)Nah, its fine. I do enjoy editing and developing the Madonna articles. I have addressed your concerns at the Jump GA1 page. --Legolas (talk2me) 05:00, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Another one passed. Congrats :) Aaroncrick (talk) 05:18, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
No a huge Madonna fan, however, I like a few of her songs such as: Ray of Light, Like a Prayer, Sorry, Hung Up and Jump. Aaroncrick (talk) 06:24, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
"Only 4-5 articles at a time." Fair effort! Good job on reviewing some articles as well ;P Aaroncrick (talk) 06:33, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Over the weekend I'll probably be going to Cradle Mountain. But that doesn't matter as I'll print the article out and review review them from there as I'll have plenty of time on my hands. I'll then add the suggestions on improvement on Monday. Should probably be easier to pick up the small few errors. Thanks, Aaroncrick (talk) 07:58, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Also any plans on getting Madonna to FA? Aaroncrick (talk) 07:59, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Yeah should be, or will be going to Wineglass Bay. That's good news. I suppose you have a lot of articles to get to FA! Aaroncrick (talk) 08:12, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

How relaxing :) Would love to go to India one day. What city do you live in? Aaroncrick (talk) 08:22, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Always been fascinated by cricket in India. Are you interested in cricket at all? Or been to a match? Aaroncrick (talk) 08:35, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
As long as you didn't watch the Aussies get beaten :) Appear to cram them in at Eden Gardens! Good to see renovations going on at Wankhede Stadium, the one in Delhi, Pune and so on. Also nice new one in Nagpur, but no one turned up for the Test against Australia! Better let you get back to some articles. Regards, Aaroncrick (talk) 08:45, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
IPL even? How cool. Wish we had international cricket in Launceston, Tasmania. Don't normally get down to Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Aaroncrick (talk) 09:20, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Yep spot on. Aaroncrick (talk) 09:37, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Thought I better leave a part for you to do! :) Aaroncrick (talk) 06:12, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

How lucky! Better he would be popular over in Kolkata. Bit like Tendulkar in Mumbai? Aaroncrick (talk) 06:12, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
He appears to be able to get under peoples skin. Aaroncrick (talk) 06:18, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Oh you know him personally! At least India still get good Test crowds in Kolkata. Bangaluru Test against Australia drew a good enough crowd, but Mohali and Nagpur was poor. Love watching matches in Kolkata. Crowds are so passionate  :) Aaroncrick (talk) 06:33, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Would have been scary, especially at your age. Seen pictures of the incident. Once Tendulkar was dismissed India collapsed. Aaroncrick (talk) 06:46, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Funnily I was thinking that this morning. He doesn't comment at every FAC. Once you have have three supports' without an oppose it could pass at anytime. Normally takes two weeks though before the delegates list it as a FA. Aaroncrick (talk) 06:56, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

(outdent) It will pass, don't worry. FAC annoys me. I really can't be bothered fixing all those knit picky things. Better off writing other articles. Aaroncrick (talk) 07:04, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, will be back reviewing soon. Been fixing things at Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of international cricket centuries by Ricky Ponting/archive1 and expanding York Park and NTCA Ground as I found more info from books I got from my b'day. Venezuelan charts

I haven't added it to WP:GOODCHARTS, mainly because I hate adding charts that haven't got archives. Still, it's a reliable chart published by a notable Venezuelan publisher. It and the Mexican Airplay Top 20 from Monitor Latino are the only good Latin American singles charts. Not being on WP:GOODCHARTS doesn't mean that a chart is on WP:BADCHARTS. I'll add it before I go to bed, which will be in a few minutes.

If you notice a suspect edit from Petergriffin9901, please point it out. He's still on a 0RR restriction, so he can't revert you if you undo one of his edits, and he isn't supposed to change a figure unless the figure contradicts the provided source. I monitor it, but things can slip by. The purpose of the 0RR restriction was to get him to discuss changes with people. He's gotten better, but I'll admit not better enough. He's got 60 days to go.—Kww(talk) 03:56, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Platinum

Hey, recognize your name from somewhere. Sorry I screwed that up. There was this anon who exaggerated another single's sales/cert claim, so I checked his history and saw he'd done a similar thing at "LoveGame". Impetuously I jumped in and reverted his edits without even noticing that these edits were made a month ago, with much editing since then. I immediately realized my error and undid that edit of mine—which I would have sworn I did simply by clicking "undo"—but somehow it didn't register your edit. So then I checked the ref and saw it said one, not two, and made the last edit. Just wanted to note it was a momentary stumble and I wasn't trying to create any subterfuge there, or undo your edit! Lady GaGa

I thought if the artist says that the album coming, and it's there on video content that it's realiable. Digital Spy maybe a media reporting website, but it is fairly realiable these days.. and I'm sure i've seen DS cited in articles about GaGa's singles. ..Raintheone (talk) 17:47, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Digital spy is an extremely unreliable source as it plagiarises from mainstream reliable sources. And the website is not used in any of the Gaga articles. --Legolas (talk2me) 03:16, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Lady GaGa Hermaphrodyte Rumors

It IS news that these rumors have reached the general press such as ABC News and to remove the discussion just because they remain unverified doesn't change the fact that these rumors are now being discussed in the major press. Re:Paparazzi VMA

Oh yes! I saw it. It was a very "iconic" performance as expected. I will keep an eye on the sockpuppet. Now that I investigate, the editing style is rather similar. • вяαdcяochat 05:52, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Do you think it is now appropriate to include content regarding the performance at the VMA's on the Paparazzi article? I have found a good source here.
Sure thing. I am working hard on it now! :) • вяαdcяochat 08:19, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Hey! I put it on the biography page in the section regarding her album. I think it may need a little work though. • вяαdcяochat 09:56, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Good news! "Paparazzi" has shot right up within the top five on the U.S. iTunes Chart thanks to the VMA performance. • вяαdcяochat 06:28, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
I know don't you think, with the whole Kanye-Taylor incident? I feel sorry for her :( I am never suprised when things like that happen though as MTV has always known to be over dramatic and controversial. • вяαdcяochat 06:56, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Hmm. I thought the performance was very-very well done. Especially with all the blood. It was certainly something different that we hadn't really seen before. Everyone seems to be talking about it which is a good sign. • вяαdcяochat 08:35, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
I know! I sure do hope it knocks off the Peas on the Hot 100. I really hate "I Gotta Feeling" now. I got sick of it about a month ago with its constant airplay. Anyway, a song by David Guetta replaced it around mid August on the ARIA charts and ever since, the populairty has been decreasing here. Bad thing is, the next BEP single "Meet Me Halfway" is rising up the chart. • вяαdcяochat 08:51, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Yeah. I have heard "Down" and it is a fair good song! I'm surprised Jay Sean is from the UK. The song sounds very American R&B. I haven't listened to Revolver yet but I intent to soon. • вяαdcяochat 09:04, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Pardon?

I reverted edits because the user changed all the the certifications to like 10X platinum etc which are false. I delete false things. Some people may like to keep them to make the artist look better but I do not.

Not really. Added a single comment to Talk:Get Together (Madonna song)/GA1. Yep, good week for the oldies, Tendulkar and Ponting getting centuries and Sanath scoring 98. Madonna for FA

Hi Legolas, I'm sorry it's taken so long to reply to you. I haven't been spending much time here lately, and I wanted to read through Madonna before I commented. It ended up taking longer than I expected. I think the Madonna article is better and stronger than it ever has been. I don't think the "legacy" or "influences" section need to be greatly reduced. Looking through the article, I can see minor things here and there, but nothing major. Things like - why mention David Bowie? - but nothing that cries out for drastic work. The structure is very good. In the past, I've found unsuccessful FA nominations to be very useful and perhaps you could view it as an opportunity for editors who don't normally look at the article, to evaluate it. You may get criticism and opposition, but taking it into a wider arena could be a healthy thing. Kylie Minogue was promoted on the third or fourth nomination; I think to nominate you must believe it's ready, but if others disagree, use what you can to make it stronger. I think it's worth considering. If you haven't already, I would suggest seeking Bookkeeper's opinion. Bookkeeper is largely responsible for Janet Jackson and I believe that is a very strong article. I think it's also helpful to read through FA commentaries and see what succeeded and what failed. For example Angelina Jolie is FA, but Brad Pitt failed. Sometimes reading the comments can help anticipate what might be said. Rossrs (talk) 13:41, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Go through peer review first. When I got Janet Jackson PR, I asked regular FA reviewers to do it. That made the process a lot easier. The Bookkeeper (of the Occult) 05:03, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

Hello :D

Hey, how are you going? I am certainly going to the Gaga show next year. I bought some tickets over the weekend. I am very happy! • вяαdcяochat 06:12, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Ah yes! Party In the USA.. That only reached number 8 on the Australian iTunes then it dropped out of the top ten after a couple of days hehe. Looks like it will be there for a lot longer in the US though. Since Paparazzi is number 2, I expect it will dramatically rise on the Hot 100. By the way, good work with those images on the biography article! • вяαdcяochat 06:22, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
I Gotta Feeling is slightly decreasing in sales evident in its current position on iTunes but the airplay must be holiding it at number 1 on the Hot 100. If it falls this week, I will be happy but I won't be surprised if it remains where it is. • вяαdcяochat 06:32, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Sure, I'll take care of it. So what you are saying is, you will not be able to edit untill Tuesday of next week? • вяαdcяochat 06:45, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Ooo, how wonderfull! I hope you have a great time there. • вяαdcяochat 06:50, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Bit of trivia

Don't add it to the article, but I thought you might be interested in this bit of trivia: Sony Entertainment Television (big South American cable network) is using the video for "Paparazzi" as programming. Lady Gaga 'Lovegame' German singles

Hi, Can you please explain why you keep removing my edits to the 'Lovegame' and 'Paparazzi' formats and track listing? I own these CD singles and have corrected and sourced the references from the actual UPC's. These German releases should be included and I would really like to know your rationale for removing my work. Thanks, Davidkt

Thanks for GA reviewing the article, I have edited the article in regards to the issues you mentioned. Can you please see if everything I did was as supposed to? -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 23:36, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

3RR

You want to take a look at WP:AN3. You've been reported for a 3RR violation, and may want to defend yourself.—Kww(talk) 03:53, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Kevin. I really don't know what the big deal was by reverting unsourced additions or non-notable inputs. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:01, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

It appears that you made four or more reverts at this article on 30 September, which violates the WP:3RR policy. You also used rollback to remove a sourced edit that was clearly not vandalism, which is not allowed under WP:ROLLBACK. You may avoid a block if you will promise to cease edit warring on this article. In particular, you should agree to not exceed one revert per day through the end of October on any articles on musical topics. If you are willing to do so, let me know and I'll close the 3RR report with no further action. EdJohnston (talk) 02:44, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

The 3RR case is still open. Please let me know your answer on whether you will accept the 1RR through the end of October. EdJohnston (talk) 03:00, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Vijender Kumar

"In 1990, boxer Raj Kumar Sangwan got the Arjuna Award; a craze for boxing increased then." I don't understand this sentence. "then" sounds a bit odd. Aaroncrick (talk) 22:09, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

"Vijender is credited for bringing back the sport of boxing into limelight and being an influence for aspirants joining the sport." Seems a bit fan orintated and surely isn't entirely true. He may be credited for bringing back the sport of boxing into limelight in India, but not in the world. " ... being an influence for aspirants joining the sport," really sound like some drive by fan has added a bit. I suggest it gets at least removed from the lead. Aaroncrick (talk) 23:33, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Haven't removed, waiting for reply. Aaroncrick (talk) 04:54, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Have done a copy edit on the article, although have a few question to ask you. Aaroncrick (talk) 04:54, 4 October 2009 (UTC) I have other queriessome two minor queries to ask you when you're done. Aaroncrick (talk) 06:49, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

  • 2008–present: Beijing Olympics and AIBA top rank - "Vijender later took up a job with the Haryana Police department which paid him Rs 14,000 per month." When did he take up the job? Does he still have the job? If not, what happened? Aaroncrick (talk) 06:59, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
  • "Although previously denied by him, Hindustan Times reported that the boxer took up a role in the part real part fictional Bollywood thriller tentatively titled One, to be directed by South Indian director Anand." " ... in the part real part fictional Bollywood thriller." Can this be worded better? Just wondering. Aaroncrick (talk) 06:59, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Seem to have addressed the other issues. Could be a while until reviewed. Aaroncrick (talk) 07:08, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Congratulations - your article has been promoted to be a Featured Article. Unfortunately, I mistimed my second round of promotions today, so the bot has already run. Although the article is now officially a featured article, it won't get its star or its article history updated until this weekend; please don't remove the FAC template on the talk page - the bot will get it this weekend. New Ideas

Not really sure, I have plenty of ideas but I can't make my mind on to which article do first, probably I will help you and the Madonna wikiproject really soon, maybe a little song nothing big like "Like a Virgin" or "Vogue". Ohhh by the way I think "Hung Up" could be copyedited a little and you may earn a second little bronze star. Frcm1988 (talk) 04:48, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

You think so? Well if you would like to collaborate on "Like a Virgin" or "Vogue" lemme know. I have all the info present with me, including the huge background of the songs. "Hung Up" I believe needs a fair amount of ce and pruning before I even present it at PR. I learned much at the FAC of "4 Minutes" and would put all that into its cleaning up. I also have the huge Madonna bio article to promote to FA, that's gonna be horrendous I'm sure. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:55, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Ohh the Madonna article would be a nightmare, but just have patience I believe it will eventually pass. I was actually thinking in "Causing a Commotion", in "Dress you Up" or "Dear Jessie" (I don't know why I liked this song, so embarrasing). Frcm1988 (talk) 05:04, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Even I like "Dear Jessie". I remember I used to take a popsicle, sit on my bike and ask my mom to play this song. :D:D Still the little kid I am! I have the background info for all of them. Tell me when you wanna work on them. I have User:Bookkeeperoftheoccult to help me out on the Madonna BLp. --Legolas (talk2me) 05:08, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Ha ha that's probably it, because it remind me when I was a kid, I will let you know which song during the weekend, I have free time the next week. By the way do you know what happend to Carpet Crawler, he appears to be practically gone. Frcm1988 (talk) 05:14, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
I know about CarpetCrawler (Josh). I miss him so much. Apparently he's in love and is too dedicated to the relationship now. Also, he said that he's into some different project than Wikipedia. I guess he left forever. :( By the way do you know what I can do to improve this? --Legolas (talk2me) 05:18, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Oh wow, lets hope he return some day. That discography will be really tricky, Madonna have released tons of singles, I was looking at other featured discographys, the only ones from veteran artists are the Metallica discography and the Depeche Mode discography. The Canadian column is what make the table look messy IMO. The fact that every position needs a source next to it kinda breaks the flow, I know that Madonna was and is big in Canada but probably you would have to sacrifice the chart in order to make it a featured list. Many of the other sections like "Cover versions" or "Collaborations" I believe are really unnecessary. Frcm1988 (talk) 05:35, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Very true. The Canadian additions are really messing it up. However I noticed that in Metallica discography they have just used the RPM main link for Madonna in Canada, maybe I can use it too. --Legolas (talk2me) 07:52, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

Difference between GA and FA

The difference between GA and FA is huge! Getting an article on Madonna to FA will take a long time and a lot of research. I've been dabbling on Ricky Ponting and that's probably taken 20 hours and only 60% finished. Aaroncrick (talk) 08:46, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

I know. That's why Im taking it slow and steady. I will submit taht article for atleast 2 PRs then only proceed for FA. Im sure it has to go through atleast 5 FACs brfore it is promoted. --Legolas (talk2me) 08:56, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
It will get there eventually! Aaroncrick (talk) 09:05, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Hope so. Before that I'll push for "Give It 2 Me" and "Miles Away (Madonna song)" for FA. Today or tomorrow first thing, I'll get around York Park somehow. --Legolas (talk2me) 09:09, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
I don't mean to push you. I get too distracted to finish off an article, as I then move and start another. Aaroncrick (talk) 09:12, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
No problem. I somehow survive multi-tasking. During the Madonna articles I used to develop 5-6 articles in 2 days and submit them for GA. That's how so many Madonna articles are GA now within the last two months. --Legolas (talk2me) 09:17, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

That was quick! Aaroncrick (talk) 10:02, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

The Confessions GAN! Aaroncrick (talk) 10:09, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Lol. Told ya that I can develop a numebr of articles like maniac, if I get into the flow. I need to take up some reviews also, else the GAN will be flooded by my nominations again!! :) --Legolas (talk2me) 10:12, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Takes me a few months ;) Aaroncrick (talk) 10:13, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Next stop, the Confessions Tour baby!! --Legolas (talk2me) 10:16, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Can you collapse the table on York Park as It looks fine on my screen and I'm not sure what to do? Aaroncrick (talk) 10:56, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Confessions on a Dance Floor - GA review

Hi Legolas, I wanted to let you know that I just passed this article for GA, which you nominated back in August. Congratulations and great work! Gongshow 22:05, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Re:Hello

CONGRATULATIONS! You must be very pleased with yourself. I'm doing fine, it has just been a little quiet on Wikipedia lately. Not much has been happening on some of the articles I work on. How about you? • вяαdcяochat 08:51, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Yeah I'm pretty pleased. But no time to waste. I have already begun promoting "Give It 2 Me" for the next FA. What about you? Why don't you try your hand at GA with the Calvin Harris song "I'm Not Alone"? --Legolas (talk2me) 09:12, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
I guess I could but that article is practically ruined and would take a lot of work to get it up to a good standard again. I am considering promoting this article, as I practically wrote the whole thing and maintained it. • вяαdcяochat 09:17, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
I'm afraid even the Pixie Lott song you have to work hard. Because there is no background regarding the development of the song, neither there is commentary regarding the music composition. You need to add them inorder to ensure that it passes GA. --Legolas (talk2me) 09:24, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I did notice that it needed a lot of improvement. There isn't that much I can find on the internet then what is already on the article probably due to the fact that the song was only originally released in the UK with Australia and New Zealand being able to purchase it at a later date as a digital download from album when it came out after the single. It hasn't been released in North America and that is the biggest music market out there. • вяαdcяochat 09:53, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
I think you can always search in MTV News. That always has something regarding any artist. If not, search Daily Mail, thats also reliable. --Legolas (talk2me) 10:16, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Will do so.. :) • вяαdcяochat 04:56, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Not yet but I plan to very soon. I haven't had that much time. I will have to search the web a little further though to expand it. • вяαdcяochat 05:10, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

I'm sure you will get more news. Don't forget to try the Calvin Harris song also. That is easy--to-get-news. Because of its association with "Poker Face". --Legolas (talk2me) 05:21, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Re: Confessions

Awesome. Congrats on it. Sure, what do you want me to do? Also, I know it's late, but I need to say it, congrats on "4 Minutes" passing FA. :) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 14:48, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks girl. And yeahh for "4 Minutes". At present I am developing The Confessions Tour in sandbox3. That will be done in a few moment. Then I will add the Confessions Tour article on this sandbox. (My other two are still full of articles that's taking a lot of time to develop) :( You can start searching for reviews of the tour and add them to the sandbox. GA here I come again!!!!!!!!! --Legolas (talk2me) 09:11, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
You're welcome. :) Sure, I'll take care of the Reception section. I'll let you know when I'm done. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 15:43, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Um, this is so hard, man. I was looking at War Tour, as an example, and this hard. Damn, you gave me a hard task. ;) Anyways, I've added some info., but I would like your help on it. Also, I added that whole air conditioning fiasco, since it was true, I went to one of the shows, and a lot of notable sources back this up. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 18:25, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Thank God! I thought I was alone in this. ;) That, looking for info. for the tour's background, I could definitely do. I'll look for some info. on both MTV News and NewsBank. Thanks for that task. You know, I'm a bit surprised that the tour and tour album are a requirement for the Confessions GT. Never knew that. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 17:44, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
OMG, sorry for my late response. I was very busy on Friday. Anyways, yeah give the task to work on the lead, I'll come up with something and show it to you when I'm done with it. Consider it my something-work in the article. :) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 22:31, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
Wow, you did an excellent job with the article. I'm very impressed... that you deserve this:
The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
For your outstanding work with Madonna related articles, particularly her Confessions tour and Confessions tour album. Keep up the good work. :) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 15:34, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, the review kind of took me off-guard, so thank you for understanding. ;) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 15:34, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
You're welcome, you deserve it. :) --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 15:13, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

ShadowRanger

Edit summaries and overall attitude don't feel right to me.—Kww(talk) 10:59, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

I agree that he is editing the same kind of articles that Pokerdance edited. His edit summaries are different. His attitude (things like calling IPs "stupid"), seems different. I think it's a different person.—Kww(talk) 11:25, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
OK, that one I can believe. Still, there's nothing I can see that needs something done about. Pokerdance is unblocked. Toddst1 released him from the 1RR restriction. That means that it's OK for him to open a new account. The thing to watch for is him going over 3RR (I didn't see that he had), or for him to edit the same page as Pokerdance and Chasewc91.—Kww(talk) 03:35, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Project

Hi Legolas, right now Im busy with work for the university, Im actually doing it right now it's 5 am here. On wikipedia I plan to finish the work I was doing in my sandbox, "Lost in Your Eyes", and then me and another user have the idea of making the whole Spice Girls discography a Featured Topic, including all the singles and albums, so that is going to take some time. So what are you planning now? Frcm1988 (talk) 10:10, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Ok, and what about the Lady Gaga articles, are you going to take "Lovegame" or "Paparazzi" to GA? Frcm1988 (talk) 10:25, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Ha ha, If she keeps releasing singles like Beyonce, you will never finish. Frcm1988 (talk) 10:57, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
That's the price you're paying for improving the articles of an artist that is so popular right now. Ha ha, but at least you like it, I guess :) Have you consider improving articles of other artists beside Madonna or Lady Gaga? Frcm1988 (talk) 04:13, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
I totally understand you, I have a very long list of articles I want to improve, but so little time available. Frcm1988 (talk) 04:20, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
That's a huge advantage over many artists, only the biggest icons or the extremely popular acts have such amount of information. Frcm1988 (talk) 04:37, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Rihanna

User:Vitorvicentevalente continues to revert my edits and remove my sources. The user is using his opinion to control articles such as "Umbrella", Rihanna, and "Russian Roulette". The user is bias against the pop genre. Many reliable websites and articles report Rihanna as a pop singer. These are my sources for "Russian Roulette": [4] and [5] Could you or an administrator tell me if they are reliable and please speak to the user before he starts an edit war? Charmed36 (talk) 22:03, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

RIHANNA IS NOT POP! AllMusic This User loves pop and so use to manipulate the articles. "Umbrella" is R&B and hip hop Blender. Vitorvicentevalente (talk) 00:00, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
You guys can contact User:Kww. I am not an administrater. --Legolas (talk2me) 05:24, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
