Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Hohenlohe1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Bleh999 06:55, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mexican Italians[edit]

Hello Lancini87. I think you misread the begining of the reference article, that states 3,000 original. It goes on to say "we might infer that in the late twentieth century there are as many as 30,000 people of Italian descent in Mexico". I don't disagree with your comment as there probably are more than 30.000 Italians in mexico, but I could not find a better source. I would be interested in a more presice number myself. Whatever the number, it is still small compared to other countries in the Americas. On another note, based on your username and the fact you are from Mexico, I am guessing you are an Italian Mexican yourself? Mariokempes 20:14, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that the mexican government does not collect data makes it difficult to estimate the number of italo-mexicans in Mexico. Nonetheless the article states that the original population was only 3.000. Then it goes on to say... "each of the original eight Italian communities was inhabited by around 400 individuals. If the expansion of Chipilo, Puebla, is representative of the Italian Mexican population as a whole, we might infer that in the late twentieth century there are as many as 30,000 people of Italian descent in Mexico". This is a strict extrapolation of figures and cannot be even close to perfect, but it is the best I could find to date. My personal feeling is there are probably more... perhaps as many as 50-80,000 but I have no basis for this. If you could find something it would be of great benefit to the article. Mariokempes 16:33, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yes, one other thing... many regions in Italy (such as the Kingdom of Naples which included all of south Italy) were under Spanish domination. It is possible Italians made their way to mexico (as they did to other parts of the new world) as "Spanish subjects" and were not classified as "italians". This would, however, be prior to 1860 and the numbers could not have been great. On another note, I do know that some wealthier Italians (most with business interests) made their way to Mexico city in the 1970s- to escape a perceived political crisis (eurocommunism, red brigades, etc.). Most returned, but I am sure some have taken root. Do you know anything about this that you could add? I will put this in the talk section of the article to see if anyone can shed some light. Mariokempes 16:43, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct! I think I finally understand what you have been saying all along- that, based on extrapolation, the original 3.000 now number 30.000 (to my defence, however, the wording in the article does not make this clear!). Nonetheless, I don't think there has been a large number of italian immigrants since then. Do you know of any figures? Feel free to ammend the article to reflect what you are saying (as a real Italo-Mexicano you are certainly entitled!). Mariokempes 19:59, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Ricardo Martinez[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Ricardo Martinez, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Ricardo Martinez seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Ricardo Martinez, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Domingo’s nationality[edit]

Lancini, there is no evidentto prove that Domingo is Mexican, despite have been living there practically half of all his life – and that means he is not and obviously cannot be considered as “Mexican”. If you have any evidence for it, please include it in the article for reference or not, the category of the “Mexican” will always be questioned by many people. As far as the law is concerned, he is Spanish. Wiki must set the correct information and not misleading the fact just because he was brought up in Mexico. My cousin was born in my country and has been living in UK for more than half her life, but I can never say she is British until she received her British citizenship recently – this is one real- life example. Thanks. - Jay 03:53, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Nbmxlogo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Nbmxlogo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Dossetti.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dossetti.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:22, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of El Arsenal[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article El Arsenal, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Zorro Spanish or Mexican[edit]

Jamillette Gaxiola[edit]

The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia of any entry is verifiability, not truth—that is, whether readers are able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source, not whether we think it is true. Editors should provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is challenged or likely to be challenged, or the material may be removed. Wikipedia:Verifiability is one of Wikipedia's core content policies, along with Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. Jointly, these policies determine the type and quality of material that is acceptable in Wikipedia articles. They should not be interpreted in isolation from one another, and editors should therefore familiarize themselves with all three. If your claim is true with the birthpalce of Miss Earth Cuba 2009, Jamillette Gaxiola, you shold be able to provide third party verifiable reference (not from myspace, facebook, or blogs). However, I have provided a third party verifiable source as cited in the article and for your perusal here's the link: Miss Cuba 2009 - Jamillette Gaxiola. In the link, it is clearly stated that she was born in Havana, Cuba. Please response in this thread (your talk page) not in my talk page, so there's continuity in our discussion.--Richie Campbell (talk) 18:22, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • If you disagree with my edit regarding the birthpace of Jamillette Gaxiola, you have to bring the topic in RfD to resolve the issue. However do not revert my edit since a third party verifiable reference was provided.--Richie Campbell (talk) 18:28, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • She was born in Mexico, not Cuba. I have spoken with her, and she can confirm it to you as well, but since MySpace or Facebook isn't a good enough reference for you, i had posted a link to a video (which you happened to remove), where she herself mentions being from Sinaloa (which is in Mexico, not Cuba). A video of the person in question, is more reliable than a mere blog. Yes, the sources you replaced the video with are blogs, how ironically contradicting is that? -- Lancini87 (talk) 05:24, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • Hi lancini. The information was taken from the Woman of the Earth Online Magazine news site: www.womanoftheearth.tv. I understand that the site has a link of its own FORUM, FACEBOOK, and TWEETER, but upon close inspection, these sites are entirely different. The news site where the birthplace of Miss Cuba was taken from is totally different from the forum, facebook, and tweeter. Take note that Wikipedia has a newly estbalished WP:BLACKLIST, which automatically rejects unacceptable sources like voy forums. The four sites mentioned have different URL Addresses and hosts. If the info was taken from the forum, facebook, or tweeter, it should have been unacceptable as per Wikipedia, but the news site where the info was lifted is a valid third party source. These days ,even world-known online news publications/sites have a link of their own blogs, tweeter, and etc., but it won't make them less since their news site is different from those social accounts (myspace, tweeter....). Regarding the source you have provided, "English-language sources are preferable to sources in other languages so that readers can easily verify the content of the article. However, sources in other languages are acceptable where an English equivalent is not available." See WP:RSUE for Wikipedia Non-English sources.--Richie Campbell (talk) 14:25, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
        • Now isn't that convenient? You reject the best reference there is simply because it's not in English? Bah! -- Lancini87 (talk) 18:32, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
