License tagging for Image:Onrock.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Onrock.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 09:13, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi again, Ladymermaid. Please do not delete messages from a talk page. I understand that you're new here, but doing do is considered bad etiquette. For more information on the guidelines surrounding talk pages, please see Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines#Others'_comments.

With regards to the Lauran Gangl, the article does not establish its subect's validity as a notable person. A biographical article should include reasons why the person is noteable. I have nominated it as an article for deletion, please do not remove the AFD template until discussion has ended at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Lauran_Gang. If you have any questions about the process, or would like help establishing why Lauran Gangl should be considered noteable, feel free to leave a message at my talk page. Hi, I saw the AFD. I have edited a number of articles, and I think that this one can be saved from deletion, but it needs some revisions to conform to the usual style of Wikipedia articles, and to confirm her notability through references satisfying WP:N and WP:A. It has to become more "encyclopedic" and less like a promotional piece. I am changing the references to the inline citation style that seems to be preferred. I am de-bolding the recurrences of the subject's name, and using "She" rather than a repetition of the name where appropriate. We need a good reference for the 1988 Olympics participation; one source indicates Junior Olympiad, 14th place. That by itself absolutely would not establish notability, unless there were some newspaper article with substantial coverage of how she did that despite having juvenile diabetes, but it is important in her life and it helps the article overall. The main claim to notability would have to be the musical career. The science career alone would not justify an article unless her work could be shown to be very influential by being widely cited from numerous publications. We need some source to verify the PhD. Was it published somewhere, or maybe I can find it in University Microfilms Incorporated. What was the name of the dissertation, the university and year? What books? Name. publisher, year. The picture is way too large for a Wikipedia article, but I'm not sure how to scale it down. It will have to have a GFDL license or "fair use" rationale. Are there any images of album covers? Refs to show the albums were on the pop charts in some country would be better than the present refs, which just go to the main pages of online music stores. There is a sentence fragment "cover of the 1977 LIFE magazine" and I can't tell what it's supposed to prove. She wasn't born yet. Was BookiesClub870 on the cover? I'm removing it to the talk page. Continue discussions on the talk page of the article. Was she born in Glasgow or St. Andrews? Reference? Let's whip this thing into shape. Edison 16:10, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On the article (someone moved it to the article talk page) you said she is in a coma. Did she suffer a long term impairment from complications of diabetes, or from something else? What is the outlook? That is heartbreaking. With all the things she has done, I am surprised there were not more newspaper human interest stories, in addition to the one in a San Diego paper (Great White shark) and a couple of similar ones from a diabetes website. You mentioned some verification of the 1988 Junior Olympics figure skating; is there some site or was it in a newspaper clipping, which does not have to be available online? Is there a newspaper clipping to cite as a reference on the death of her husband in the war? Everything in a Wikipedia article needs to be referenced to something that is published or is online at a reliable source. Do you know the title of the dissertation? Thanks.
