Your purpose here is to use Wikipedia for promotion, which is totally unaccepable. Wikipedia articles should be written from a neutral point of view, and the kind of marketing copy that you have posted has no place in Wikipedia. It was the kind of material that belongs in a college prospectus, not an encyclopaedia which seeks to give neutral, third party, factual, coverage. Also, you should not be editing the article, because doing so is contrary to Wikipedia's guideline on conflict of interest, so there would be no purpose at all in removing your block from that article. Hi there, sorry I was on a Christmas break from work.
- All changes have since been supported with a reliable source.
- I hadn't realised I had to create an edit summary - as I said previously, I was new to Wikpedia so unsure of the process.
- I didn't commit block evasion intentionally, I thought you could edit openly and when it restricted me, I created an account as thought this may be the reason.
Please can the block be lifted and the new content now included? It is really important there is correct information on the page for current and new prospective students. Thanks Kstobbs (talk) 11:13, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi k6ka, I have been blocked indefinitely but not sure why. I have updated the Stephenson College page yesterday in a productive manner and there are a large number of references and sources given. I have not deliberately evaded an IP block - I use a public computer at my work place and so this means multiple users log on via that IP address. No further edits are needed on the SC page, I would really appreciate that the block is lifted and I can undo the reverts made. The content that was previously on the page is over 5 years old. Thank you Kstobbs (talk) 11:51, 16 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Could you explain why you reverted this edit? —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 02:12, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I updated the page with the most accurate information for the College (I work there) and my edits kept being reverted. For example, it listed the College as previously being located in Thornaby, which isn't 100% accurate - it was located in Stockton-on-Tees. So I reverted the reverts (if that makes sense) as this is the most accurate info, and then I added all of the references. I'm sorry if I have breached a policy unintentionally, I am new to Wikipedia edits. 94.9.72.220 (talk) 17:28, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This isn't the main issue (on which hopefully an admin will get back to you soon) but for what it's worth - Queen's Campus, despite being described as "Stockton" in the university, actually is located in Thornaby, as I understand it. Thornaby is part of the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees, but the boundary between the actual towns is the Tees, and the campus was on the south side of the Tees in Thornaby (and therefore North Yorkshire). Try looking up the address of Durham University, Queen's Campus on Google Maps. I'm honestly not sure why the university consistently denies this! TSP (talk) 21:30, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, so first off, you were editing Stephenson College, Durham while logged out, and you were persistently adding unsourced content. Everything on Wikipedia needs to be supported with a citation to a reliable source, which your edits were not providing, hence they were being reverted. You were then blocked from editing that page for 72 hours by another administrator. You then created an account in order to evade the block and continue editing. Block evasion is considered a serious offense on Wikipedia and will result in severe sanctions.
To summarize, you were blocked because:
Your unblock request will need to address these three points. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 20:50, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using Wikipedia:Edit requests - these allow you to propose changes on Talk:Stephenson College, Durham, which can then be implemented by an uninvolved editor. TSP (talk) 13:53, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Users Stephensoncollegedu and Kstobbs uploaded a number of images to Wikimedia Commons:

These appear to be professionally-taken photos, and seem to be official Durham University marketing photos - an image very similar to File:Stephenson_College_accommodation_blocks.jpg appears on https://www.durham.ac.uk/study/international/studying-in-the-uk/, and several of the same people wearing the same clothes appear in all (I think) the other images, suggesting they all come from the same photoshoot.

As you may know, Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons can only accept images under free licences (in this case, Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike), which release them permanently to be used freely by anyone for any commercial or non-commercial purpose. Can you confirm that the copyright owners of these images (I would guess the university) intended to release these images under a free licence?

If so, that's fantastic - good quality freely-licenced images are great for Wikipedia. If not, I'm afraid they will need to be deleted. TSP (talk) 18:14, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've attempted to replace those images with my own images where possible- in typical English fashion, it was darn near impossible to take a picture where the weather wasn't crap. IMO it's likely that those photos are non-free and improperly licensed, and since we've replaced it with free versions they probably can be deleted. I've nominated these for deletion at Commons::Commons:Deletion_requests/Stephenson_College_images. Thanks for creating alternatives, Padgriffin - I'd hoped to make it there myself but never got round to it! TSP (talk) 15:58, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
