I must say that I appreciate Rlevse's concern, which was so grave that it did not notify me. Usernames in and of themselves can certainly incite violence, especially when they are references to Radiohead songs. This subversive behavior is dangerous to society, and should not be tolerated. This is even more important because such a user may make edits that other users who support certain politicians may not want to be publicized.         Comment I'd have to agree with Secretlondon, I spent a good 18+ months lurking, doing nothing but watching, and learning policies/guidelines (which changed as rapidly as I learned them, lol) before I felt comfortable editing consistently, and there are a significant number of them to get through. I find nothing offensive about this name, and I can see no violation of WP:U. Actually, this page here says notify the user and I am not the one that reported it here. It was moved here from the Usernames noticeboard by another admin, which does not say anything about notifying the user, though I agree it should and I should have, a simple oversight. Nonetheless, Knivesout8's reaction and comments are over the top and uncalled for. I say that we allow the name, as it's not against policy. However, he doesn't seem to be assuming good faith of other editors (even if he is the one who's correct), which is a completely different issue, but I've even seen many experienced editors jump the gun when it comes to political articles and POV. I think he can turn out to be a great editor in time, as he knows article-writing policy already, and I don't want to discourage his participation here. hmwith talk 00:25, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Allow the name, caution the user regarding civility and assuming good faith. The violence link in this name is ambiguous and unlikely to cause significant offense.
