To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your userpage.

User page[edit]

Kmtedrow, There are several possible reasons for why you haven't made your user page. Some people have thought they should go into a sandbox. Others have not been saving their page. At the top of your page, click on Create. In the box type something short like "test" and then scroll down until you see the Save Page button and click on that. You should immediately see the result. Perhaps this video will help:

Don't make a sandbox page as the video talks about. Instead do this on your User Page, Create / Edit, make some content, Save. Crtew (talk) 20:51, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You did it![edit]

Kmtedrow, That worked! I fixed your link to the HS by replacing IN with Indiana, which is in the article name. You now have a User Page. Congratulations. I've left a welcome packet above with useful links to explore Wikipedia.Crtew (talk) 21:05, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Assignment[edit]

I assign you Ahmed Abdisalam Adan (a living person) who was the co-founder of HornAfrik Media Inc. and a Minister of Information in Somalia. You're one of the few students I've assigned a living person to write about. HornAfrik has made a considerable difference as a media company, and one co-founder and several of its directors have been killed. Since Adan is living you have to follow different standards, which are spelled out on the page Wikipedians call BLP. Good luck, Crtew (talk) 21:43, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

HornAfrik overview[edit]

User:Mjmezo has been assigned to write an overview of HornAfrik Media Inc. which operates Radio HornAfrik and HornAfrik TV.[1] User:Kmtedrow is writing about Ahmed Abdisalam Adan (also referred to incorrectly as Ahmed Mohamed Aden) (a living person) one of the co-founders and served as a Minister of Information. User:Blbiddle is working on a bio of another co-founder Ali Sharmarke, who was the director of HornAfrik when he was killed in 2007. User:Rmwheatley is researching another former director Said Tahlil Ahmed who was killed in 2009. Another Wikipedian created a page about a journalist and TV comedy producer Abdi Jeylani Malaq Marshale, who was killed in 2012. I wanted you to see the connections already at the start of the project! If you learn helpful information, feel free to communicate with each other. Crtew (talk) 00:25, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Progress at this point[edit]

By now you should have ...

1. Moved the material on your user page about Ahmed Abdisalam Adan under the "Adopt a Journalist" section to Ahmed Abdisalam Adan. Copy that material, click on the red link, and paste the material on that page!

2. Run your reflinks tool in the banner (by right clicking and creating a new tab). It might take a minute to complete the operation -- be patient. You will copy over the results from the tool tab you create to replace the existing ref tags in your article.

3. Taken the Wikipedia tutorial. After you do, begin writing your article.

Is my content not where it's supposed to be? Also, have we been assigned the peer review parts yet? I know have still have quite a bit to add to my page. I also have been checking my email and blackboard but have not seen any new details on the peer review. Kmtedrow (talk) 18:39, 21 October 2012 (UTC)kmtedrow[reply]

John Verwey peer review[edit]

i like the info you put in your introduction paragraph. i think your info box could be done better along. dont forget about the other sections still not filled in, but it looks good so far. Jverwey (talk) 18:30, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kamartin2 Peer review[edit]

I thought you had a really good notability statment, and had a lot of good details in your career box of the article.

I would work on finding out some more things for the info box. Also the the context, impact and reaction boxes need more details. KamartinKamartin2 (talk) 05:12, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cncarter1 Peer Review[edit]

Very well written, I think your map and info box look great also. The only thing I would change on the map would be the caption, it is too generic and almost doesn't make any sense. I would say the main thing that needs some work would be the in-line citations. Your references are all listed at the top and bottom but in the sections you have quotes but no links to the reference material. Also, the two wiki-links you used don't exist, possibly correct the link or find other pages that exist in Wikipedia.Cncarter1 (talk) 04:22, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
