Raid on Groton[edit]

Hi, you added Raid on Groton in 1704 to List of Indian massacres, but that article is about some event in 1694... I believe you about the 1704 event, but we will need a source, can you provide one if possible? Herostratus (talk) 21:25, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

List of Indian Massacres[edit]

(After edit conflict) I reverted your edit to List of Indian massacres in North America because it was not formatted for the table, causing the bare ufl to display at the top of the table; you were trying to list the event under the wrong year (the linked article says the Raid on Groton was in 1694, not in 1704); and the Raid on Groton article does not mention the term "massacre" (the List article states at the top of the "List of massacres" section that, "This is a listing of some of the events reported then or referred to now as 'Indian massacre'"). - Donald Albury 21:35, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

However, just to point out, not having the correct format is not usually a deal killer, unless it breaks the page (as here I guess), in which case the usual procedure is for someone to do at least the minimum amount of formatting to not break the page, if that is possible to do easily. We are almost always always happy to have new, good, material even if not formatted right; we can always format later on, looking up and ref'ing and and writing new material is more important. We don't want to discourage you or anyone from adding good new material because you're overly worried about getting the format right.

So, the problem here is not really the formatting, but that we don't have any evidence that this event occurred, which is a different thing; we need a source. Herostratus (talk) 01:53, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
