A tag has been placed on Timothy Hopkins requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Information for this article was compiled from 3 seperate sources as noted on the article itself. It is not in copy write infringement as it abridges all of the information I was able to find in my own words. Thank you, Kelli1714 (talk) 08:33, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Upon review, the article is an almost verbatim copy of http://www.paloaltoonline.com/weekly/morgue/spectrum/1999_Apr_28.HISTORY.html, with only extremely limited attempts at paraphrasing, that results in what is called a close paraphrasing. This still constitutes copyright infringment.
Close paraphrasing is a risk inherent when copy / pasting text from other sites and then attempting to rewrite it. The editor doing this will end believing to have rewritten the material, persuaded that no issues exist anymore, but to the later reviewer, the source remains visible clear as day.
In this case, more than 90% of the article still borrows sentences wholesale from the source.
In accordance with the precautionary principle governing our copyright policies, we cannot keep unlicensed third party material on display, this is the reason why the article was nominated for speedy deletion.
I would like to suggest you rewrite the article, in your own words, in your userspace and then request a review at WT:COPYCLEAN before moving it to article space. To minimize the risk of reproducing the present situation, I've found that it helps tremendously to act as if the copy / paste function hadn't been invented, and to simply summarize the sources you have into one single text that is entirely your own.
If you need any help, you can create a new section here and place {{helpme}} below it, someone will be along shortly to assist you. Alternatively, you can also leave me a message on my talk page. Best, MLauba (talk) 09:05, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
