Fair use rationale for File:Bclogo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Bclogo.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 02:54, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to Ben Cline page

[edit]

The Cline logo is not only inappropriate as campaign material, it is property of the Cline campaign. Wikipedia frowns strongly on the use of non-free images. You will need to provide some kind of documented release from the Cline campaign or a fair-use rationale that goes beyond what you posted on my page.

As for attorney, that is a link to a disambiguation page, and those are not supposed to be in articles. Odds are someone besides me is ultmately going to pipe it to lawyer anyway. Rklear (talk) 16:29, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oh, and I just looked at the license claim attached to the logo. Are you absolutely sure that you personally own the copyright to his campaign logo? There could be real problems if you don't. Rklear (talk) 16:41, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As for the attorney thing, it's not that big of a deal. I'll change it back myself, but I think wikipedia should make that distinction.

As for the logo, I have verbal and written permission from the campaign manager to use the logo however I see fit. If a more proper license, please point it out to me. However, I may remove it from the page in the future as I add more information. I do not believe this is inappropriate to use on the page, as no information on the page expressly supports the victory or defeat of this candidate and describes his political campaign and information thereof. Wikipedia is an information site, and I aim to provide as much information as possible. It's like saying that the logo on Microsoft's page is free advertising. If you could point me to a list of terms that prohibits this action, I will gladly remove it.

  • WP:PERMISSION has details on informing Wikipedia on copyright permission. Your photos are OK, but I'd warn you, based on past experience, that the General Assembly holds copyright on his official House photos and you'll need to get permission from the Clerk of the House for those. It's usually easier to take the pictures yourself, as you have. Rklear (talk) 19:18, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Clineeliz.jpg

[edit]
File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Clineeliz.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:44, 23 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hekerui (talk) 19:44, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Benclinelogo.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Benclinelogo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hekerui (talk) 19:45, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for File:Clineseat.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Clineseat.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
