[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Costa Rica Rainforest Outward Bound School has been reverted.

Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): \bflickr\.com/(?:photos|groups|search)\b (links: http://flickr.com/photos/tranquilo/collections/72157600734218048/). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. an image file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file.

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Your article was promotional in tone, making unsourced spammy claims, eg from one paragraph

Like its parent, Outward Bound International (OBI), CRROBS inspires and develops leadership, compassion, responsibility, respect for the environment and commitment to serve through adventure-based wilderness experiences led by skilled, safety-conscious staff. The Costa Rica charter combines adventure activities including hiking, rafting, kayaking, surfing, rappelling, SCUBA diving and tree climbing with the culturally rich experience of learning firsthand about the Costa Rican way of life and environment by staying with local families and immersing themselves in wilderness settings. those claims need independent verifiable sources

It also did not show through the use of independent sources how it met the notability guidelines

The history section at least was a copy from the organisation web site; this is a copyright violation sindce the site asserts "all rights reserved" and is therefore not GFDL as required. jimfbleak (talk) 16:16, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kathleen. With regard to verbal permission to use the text, that isn't adequate. While I don't doubt your good faith, anyone could claim to have permission. If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:
  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article's talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at the talk page with a link to where we can find that note.
  • Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement.
I realise that you are not selling anything, but it's easy when you are too close to an organisation to write something that is not encyclopaedic and neutral - and don't forget that you have to show notability.
There is nothing to stop you recreating the article, since I've not protected it against recreation, but it could be deleted again, so what I suggest is this. I'll put the deleted text here for you to work on, and if you let me know when you are ready I'll have a look at it. Hope this helps, jimfbleak (talk) 06:04, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Incidentally, I checked the images - since they are self-made and have appropriate licences, at least there is no problem there! jimfbleak (talk) 06:08, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A couple of image tips. You don't need "right" as a parameter, that's the default. More importantly, you shouldn't normally force an image size like "250px" since that overrides a user's individual settings for thumb display (go to your "my preferences" tab, and then "files") jimfbleak (talk) 06:16, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Costa Rica Rainforest Outward Bound School logo.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Skier Dude (talk) 08:17, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree File:Costa Rica Rainforest Outward Bound School logo.JPG

[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Costa Rica Rainforest Outward Bound School logo.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. --Skier Dude (talk) 08:19, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Review

[edit]

Hi, with regard to the above, unless the organisation is prepared to make its logo public domain, you will need to add a fair use rationale. See this in the Ford Motor Company article as an example. The article is still pretty spammy, presenting claims and mission statements uncritically as facts, no adverse comments or criticisms. However, it is referenced. I've removed or movedsome of the more obvious promotional bits, especially from the lead, and fixed a couple of typos. I'll let it go, but it may of course be tagged by someone else. To be on the safe side, forward the email from its original address to [email protected] or send a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article talk page.Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:16, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Files missing description details

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media files you uploaded as:

are missing a description and/or other details on their image description pages. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the images, and they will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the images may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 01:02, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Wiki rappel.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Wiki rappel.jpg, which you've attributed to Tyler Holt. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:48, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
