Alberta 2040 Passenger Rail Plan Alberta Premier Danielle Smith released a plan to the public in late April of 2024 outlining Alberta’s passenger rail goals. It included multiple commuter, regional, and LRT Aline’s which would bring Alberta into the top of North American transportation. Among these was the Calgary Airport Link, which would connect Calgary’s Green Line and Blue Line with each other, and subsequently the Airport. More commuter rail included Calgary Airport to Banff, Calgary to Lethbridge, and Edmonton to Fort McMurray. One of the most notable projects was a Calgary to Edmonton high speed rail link.
