Right now I am putting in a final polish on Walter Oesau. Can I please bother you to review ? I am planning on a Peer Review and a subsequent B Review. But the reason I am requesting for your review is because I want to know where it stands if submitted for a GA review. I'd appreciate your time if you could spare. Sure, no problem. While I haven't done very much in the way of GA reviews, I can tell you that the referencing looks good. The images that are in there are also good, but it'd be nice if there could be more - between the Bf-109 diagram and the portrait of him there's only one image. The main problem that I've noticed is that it really needs a copyedit. It's worse than the JG1 article I reviewed, and if it didn't get GA that'd be why. Otherwise, Western Front could be disambiguated to [[Western Front (World War II)|Western Front]] and I'd recommending changing the main article links to see also in the individual sections, as they merely provide more context and background information than more coverage of his exploits. – Joe Nutter 22:02, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Dreadnought

There still is no citation at the end of the first paragraph in "Long-range gunnery," the second in Armament, the first in "Position of main armament," the third in the same section, the first in "Main armament power and caliber," the fourth, fifth, and seventh in the same section, the third and fourth in Secondary armament, the first in Underwater protection, the third in Propulsion, the first in Anglo-German arms race, the first in US Dreadnoughts, the second in Japan, the second in The Super-Dreadnoughts, the first, second, fourth, and fifth in In Action, and the sixth and ninth in From 1914 Onwards. The referencing was the main reason that I withheld my support from it, and the main objection you'll encounter at FAC. – Joe Nutter 13:29, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Don't be surprised, I believe that all coordinators should at least have rollback because we should keep a close watch over the TFAs that are in our scope when they are on the Main Page, and rollback is the best tool for that job. Consequently, USS Iowa turret explosion will be the TFA on 19 April and Ironclad warship on 12 April. -MBK004 23:51, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Polish culture during World War II

In the past you've copyedited this article once. It has however failed the recent FAC nomination due to objections that this article has not been sufficiently copyedited before and that there are some "prose issues". I'd like to ask you to consider copyediting it again (I am not an native speaker of English so I cannot spot those "prose issues" myself). To be honest, the best I can do is basic grammatical and minor stylistic things, and I took care of all of those I could find back during the ACR. I would, however, recommend that you list it and contact some of the people listed at WP:MHL#COPYEDIT, who could probably do a much better job than me. – Joe N 00:35, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

OA Revert

I completely disagree with your revert. If the OA has secret rituals and practices and even has an FAQ before publishing anything, how can you say that it is not based at least in part on secret societies, such as the Freemasons??? Purplebackpack89 (talk)

Perhaps you could specify the structure coming from Freemasonry, as is explained in more detail in the Founding and development section? I just don't want it to seem to imply that the OA is like a secret society. – Joe N 16:42, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Joe, I'm thinking of taking this article to FAC within the next week, and am wondering if you have any comments on it? Nick-D (talk) 00:04, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

I'd say it looks good and was an interesting read, but I'd like to know more about why the RAAF and RAN thought that finishing off this submarine was so important. You mention that they thought it was damaged, but it seems that that would make it less of a priority, since it wasn't an immediate threat, so it'd be nice if that were clarified. – Joe N 01:02, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
OK, thanks Joe. I'll check my sources, but I don't think that any special priority was given to this sub - the RAAF and RAN tried to hunt all of the subs they detected and it was standard Allied ASW doctrine to throw all available assets at subs and hunt them until they were destroyed. Thanks for your service as coordinator on WPr Military History for the last six months. Great job, the Wikiproject has matured some more. Lots more needs to be done though.

Would you consider giving a para here on what you planned to do, what you could achieve, what gave you happiness, what irritated you and your suggestions for the road ahead to the new team?

Here's my paragraph, more or less what you asked for. In the next six months, I plan on doing what I have mostly done for the last six months. This mostly is A-Class reviews, but also includes discussion on the coordinator talk page and other assorted tasks as they pop up. The main thing I think that I could achieve is the main thing I've accomplished in the last six months: working on A-Class reviews and trying to review every one before it is promoted or closed. I generally check articles for readability and format, and anything else I notice while I'm reading through it. What gave me happiness? Mainly seeing articles that I've reviewed start off being nowhere close to the criteria, and then working with the author to make it better. Knowing that I have helped to improve, even in small ways, many articles which went on to become samples of Wikipedia's best work also satisfies me. As for things that irritate me related to coordinator jobs, I can't really think of much at the moment, but in general on Wikipedia I don't like unreferenced additions to an article that had only high-quality, sourced content. If an article is generally accurate and referenced readers will be less likely to notice a bit of unreferenced content. Finally, to be honest, I don't have any real suggestions for new coordinators, since this is only my second term I'm still somewhat new myself.

M22 Locust

Hey, Thanks for the support in the ACR. Which article did you see the Locust mentioned in? I really need to expand that section, but until nowe the only sources I've found are third-hand info from translated Russian forum posts, which aren't RS. Skinny87 (talk) 20:55, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Battle of Algiers

why source it if we have two good articles about the so called "battle": Battle of Algiers (1957) and Algerian War - the Battle of Algiers was a urban guerrilla campaign by some 1400 Algerians against the French authorities in a city that at the time had around 300,000+ inhabitants - it compromised of executions, bombings by the guerrillas and arrest campaigns by the French authorities - it is laughable and ridiculous to claim that all and every Algerian victim of the Algerian War) supposedly died/ was wounded in the battle of Algiers, when in fact city life went on as normal. --noclador (talk) 23:38, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

A large discussion on the topic of citations in the article was held here a while back, which I encourage you to read regarding sourcing of the article. Also, I would like to note the the Battle of Algiers article does not list casualties, while Algerian War gives (uncited) figures of up to 1.5 million dead - surely an estimate of a fifth of that, including wounded, for a large battle in that war is reasonable? – Joe N 23:47, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Lebaudy Patrie assessment

Thanks for your comments on the assessment review, re sandwiching of text between images. I have experimented with the section you mention, but there isn't enough text to play with - the only other solution would be to reduce the size of the images, something I'm reluctant to do, since they're thumbs already. By all means have a go yourself - perhaps you can sort it out better than I can. I appreciate the comments anyway and thanks for your help. --TraceyR (talk) 00:21, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

I've shuffled them a bit, but now the bow view goes on into the next section. If that's a big problem for you, we can change it back, but this way it isn't sandwiched for me, and I have a widescreen laptop so it probably won't be for anyone. – Joe N 03:09, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
It looks fine. The only (minor) point is that the bow view is referenced in a paragraph which is now further from the image, but that's a minor point. I'm not thinking of getting this one to GA/FA at the moment, so this is good. And the Patrie has now made the A grade on both Aviation and MilHist projects, so that's a great outcome for 2009.
