Union Jack (newspaper)

Hello,

I am trying to get advice on how to stop someone "hijhacking" our Wikipedia listing. The page I am referring to is "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Jack_%28newspaper%29" which unbeknownst to us was changed several times by a former "licensee" who was in breach of contract with our company Union Jack Publishing, Inc. USA.

As you will see the initial entry was made back in 2006, and remained like that until DMMILLAR changed it to make it appear as though the Canadian version he held legitimately for 6 months was the only Union Jack, which it of course is not. After spotting the change last month I edited the page and put it back to our domain, and it has been changed back again, by DMMILLAR. Today, I changed it back again, but seems a tedious and amateurish & childish way of dealing with this matter.

Any suggestions you may have would be appreciated.

I do not see how some person can come along with his own blurb about something of an irrelevant matter and "replace" our information? Elphaba

The original text says "Elphaba discovers that the Quadling Turtle Heart may in fact have fathered Nessarose, it is also implied that Turtle Heart was also her mother's lover." The second half of that sentence is, of course, redundant, since in order to father Nessarose, he would have to have been her mother's lover. The more interesting fact that was confirmed during that trip was Frex's admission that he and Melena "shared" Turtle Heart. They were both his lovers. This is why I changed it to read "Elphaba discovers that the Quadling Turtle Heart may in fact have fathered Nessarose, and was also her father's lover". This is both accurate and succinct. Moving My Medical Reports to 123MyMD

I am completely confused but what else is new for me? haha. our company My Medical Reports is now called 123MyMD. I tried to make the appropriate changes today but apparently I didn't do it correctly. I deleted things I shouldn't have deleted and I thought I could just change the name. Brazilian 2012 GP - Vettel/Senna Crash

Hi,

Thank you for your message.

I thought the original "Senna hit Vettel" was very harsh on Senna. Looking at the footage of the crash, Vettel appears to turn in on Senna.

But no penalties were given to either driver so it must have been written off by the stewards as a "racing incident."

Therefore perhaps it is more accurately described as "Vettel and Senna collided with one another!?" Or "Vettel and Senna had a coming together!?" Or something similar but better written/described than above.

Just a thought.

Northeastern Illinois University

Hi,

I guess I'm confused as to why you are deleting the information I am posting to the Northeastern Illinois University wikipedia page. The information I'm trying to post is directly from the University's website and U.S. Department of Education IPEDS public documents. To my knowledge, wikipedia is a social media platform that allows multiple users to contribute information. Are you seeing errors in the information I am posting?

Amanda Marcotte has 24 references which seems considerable given the page length. I don't understand "radical". A feminist is, essentially, someone who wants equal rights for women. i see no citation on the sentence in question which supports that she writes on feminism and politics, so you're saying that sentence should just be left out, right?

in her first opinionated podcast, she self described as a radical feminist. all you have to do is google her name to find a number of feminist websites calling her an idiot for her large number of radical positions that don't fall into other forms of feminism and her complete disregard for anything that isn't white, middle-class female centric.

I removed the link from FC Sheriff Tiraspol as links from an article to an "article for creation" are likely to be short lived. I am not very familiar with the wp:AFC process. You might want to review Wikipedia:Starting an article I see that most articles in AFC have a submission template, but Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/List of famous FC Sheriff former players does not. An example is [[1]]. Do you need to add a Template:AFC submission? A robot then usually changes it to a "review waiting" template. I notice that "List of famouse FC Sheriff..." does not. Recent changes to pages

Good day,

The recent changes made to the pages are done so as to reflect a neutral tone in the articles, without which may be biased in nature.

Words such as : - "homophobic" > "not accepting of homosexuality" - "Anti-discrimination" > "Protection for homosexuals" 

as with a few other changes.

As a Wikipedia article which many people may refer to, I believe it is in the interest of the readers to read the articles in a matter-of-fact manner without prejudice.

Isle of Wight Deer

Hi Jim1138

Thanks for your message although I do not understand why you have removed my edit. Please also bear with me as I am not that brilliant with computers.

The information regarding wild/ feral deer on the Isle of Wight needed updating, basically these creatures are now being sighted more frequently and in differing locations, I included the citations merely as an independent means of verifying what I was stating, i.e. that wild deer are occasionally seen here. I am sorry if this contravenes Wikipedia guidelines, but encyclopedias do need to have correct and up to date information. I have no interest in promoting any commercial enterprise but a serious concern that I do have is the misinformation that currently abounds about our local deer population is corrected.

Perhaps you can suggest a way forward?

you are wrong ,do you know what consent degrees are? thats where the federal statues ,from a lawsuit in the 1980s, and it is a state statue , since 1994 all Correction officers have to be firearm qualified as there condition of employment, go to nyc GOV. citywide adm.services check under Correction officer job, you will find it listed under firearm qualification , as far as off duty, after probation you request a off duty firearm after that you just notify them of firearms you purchase, the only ones you can carry off duty that are allowed ones, you do not need a carry permit, but you do have to qualify with them.yes in 1987 when I started you needed permission to purchase every firearm, not any more. Wrong about what? I undid one of your edits for bad punctuation and I corrected another of your edits for bad punctuation.
I undid this edit (My edit summary: rv bad sentence format, missing space between sentences, no cap). Your edit in blue: "and deadly force and issue summonses.correction officers are peace officers on and off duty " You did not have a space between "summonses." and "correction". You did not capitalize "correction". You did not append a period/full stop to the end of the sentence.
I corrected two more of your mistakes with this edit. The original text was "summonses..." (your edit in blue) "summonses, On and off duty.". You capitalized "On" in the middle of the sentence. It should read "summonses, on and off duty." A word should only be capitalized if it is a proper noun such as a name "Jake", title "Mr. Simmons", and others (see John A. Logan Collegs: Rules for Capitalization - google "capitalization rules" for more info). I also corrected this condition of there employment to condition of their employment. "there" generally refers to a place: "the house over there" "their" is possessive, it is used to indicate ownership or association with: "their home", "their college", "their own kind", "their employment".
I myself have problems recognizing spelling and grammatical errors; so I use a trick. I copy and pasting the suspect text into Microsoft Word (or any other program with a good grammar / spell checker). Run the spell check on the text, correcting anything as needed, then paste it back into my Wikipedia edit page. As the Wikipedia markup is not generally compatible with grammar checkers, I would recommend doing an edit and clicking on "Show preview" (don't click the "Save page" button yet to avoid using unnecessary server space). Then copy the text you are working on from the preview area (not the edit area) and paste it into your word processor / grammar checker. Run the checker and make note of the errors, fix them in the Wikipedia editor, and repeat until there are no more errors. Note: grammar checkers do not catch all errors and may flag some correct usage.

I dont know if your getting my messages or not ,I have told you 3 times where to go for the condition of employment, firearm qualification. Go to NYC GOV. citywide adm. services, exams ,title correction officer,scroll down to firearm qualification , as a condition of employment, Correction officers must stay firearm qualified. As per federal and state statute. please read it. yes the NYPD has to stay qualified too ,but they go twice a year ,once to Rodmans neck,Bronx & Brooklyn, indoor range. Correction officers go once a year to Rodmans neck, except Correction's special units,emergency services unit, intelligence unit & Rikers island security unit, they go twice a year.I know this because I was assigned to Rodmans neck police range for a year as a correction officer. The place to discuss it would be Talk:Republic of Macedonia. There does seem to be a big discussion going on. Currently consensus is for ROM.
