Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Template:Infobox Lymph/doc, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 14:57, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DBpedia statements concerning Freebase

[edit]

I note this edit by SebastianHellmann in which he says "there is a common enemy called Freebase, that's drawing away users from Wikipedia." Is this DBpedia's official viewpoint? On what basis are you making it (evidence, links, etc)? Thanks! - David Gerard (talk) 17:58, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That is neither my nor DBpedia's official viewpoint. I am not aware of any evidence for it -- we are not closely collaborating with Freebase yet, but publish links between DBpedia and Freebase. Occasionally, we also had contact via mail. Just 4 hours ago, we started to discuss whether we want to incorporate Freebase in the creation of the RFC for template annotations, because it is very likely to be useful for them as well. However, this statement does not exactly make collaboration easier. :-/ Jens Lehmann (talk) 18:49, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's very good to hear, thank you :-) I've always thought there's plenty of new users to contribute to whichever projects catch their interest and suit their way of working :-) The various Wikipedias are (unfortunately) difficult for many newbies, and if they find DBpedia or Freebase or Citizendium suit them better, then that's still good for everyone IMO - David Gerard (talk) 23:45, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
