Chubbies article and orphan status

[edit]

Hi Jbyoung15! I just wanted to say, nice work with the Chubbies (brand) article. I realise that it needs linking to from other articles, but unfortunately, the way you incorporated it into the Shorts article was not really appropriate. The edit was completely uncited/unreferenced, and with a 5.5 midseam, it's debatable whether Chubbies would be properly "short shorts" as defined - it would be original research to declare them as such. I did have a look to see whether it was possible to incorporate them into the main text of the article, but on a quick search, could not see how it was possible without it looking like a less-than-subtle product plug. With other brands such as Adidas/Dolfin/etc, we have sources highlighting their significance as manufacturers, which can be used to support their inclusion in the article.

Unfortunately, as I know from experience, it's really difficult to find good homes for links to company articles. I have the same problem with The Hemp Trading Company. I did try to incorporate a mention in the general Hemp article, but someone else removed it as they saw it as a plug/advertising, which was fair enough. There must be a solution, but I can't think what right now, and as I am going on holiday (actually, I will be in San Francisco so maybe I should check out the Chubbies store for myself!) I don't have time to think on it. However, I'll try and come up with something when I get back, just remind me on my talk page to address this when I'm back.

Again, thanks for your new article, and hope you will continue to contribute! Mabalu (talk) 01:01, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
