Speedy deletion nomination of Mate1.com[edit]

A tag has been placed on Mate1.com, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Request for help[edit]

Hello. I saw your request for help on the talk page of Mate1.com. Unfortunately I don't have time right now to give you help. However, I see you have a user space draft, so you can work on that if the article is deleted, and if and when you have made it into a suitable article it can be relaunched as an article. You are welcome to ask me for any help or advice on my talk page. I will happily have a look at your draft and let you know what I think, but unfortunately, as I have said, I don't have time now.

Having said that, I think it is only fair to warn you that the subject of an article must satisfy Wikipedia's notability guidelines, otherwise the article is likely to be deleted. You can look the guideline from the link I have just given you, but in a nutshell the point is that a subject of an article is acceptable only if it has received a significant amount of write up in significant reliable independent sources. You may know all that already, as I see you have a large number of references and links in the article, but I have not checked them all, so I can't tell. Something like a company's own website, for example, would not be regarded as independent, and a blog where anyone can post is not a reliable source. As I say, you may already know this, but I have known new Wikipedians to waste a lot of time and effort into trying to improve an article to protect it from deletion, while in fact the subject was not notable, so that no matter how well the article was written it would eventually be deleted. I am not saying this is so with Mate1.com, as I have not checked: I am simply warning you in case there is a notability problem, to save you a lot of wasted time and frustration.

After I posted the message above I had a quick look over the article and decided it is not really promotional, so I have removed the speedy deletion tag. That does not guarantee that it won't eventually be deleted for some other reason, but at least it should mean you have you time to work on it. JamesBWatson (talk)

I am not sure that the article isn't a copyright infringement. If the text is either directly copied or slightly rephrased from another web site then it may well be. I am giving you this warning to give you time to rewrite it if necessary, but if it does turn out to be a copyright infringement then the article is likely to be deleted very soon. Request for article not to be deleted[edit]

Thank you for taking care to look over my article. I appreciate it. I hope to improve my article. Since your nomination for deletion I have added a few things to the article (including external links, which prove coverage of the site), since I see that you find there isn't enough coverage on the subject. What sort of coverage would validate the article?

Please do not delete my article. It is a work in progress. I am new and learning.
