ENOUGH

[edit]

I AM TRYING TO MAKE A PAGE ABOUT OUR GROUP A.M.C! Why are you deleting this!? i am giving a reason as you specified. This really stupid. Also, im not so sure if you are the one, but my friend created another club too about maps and cities. Stop deleting htat too. Its not like wikipedia should not expand. Wikipedia is a free place. People get known here. If you delete my posts, then the A.C.M will never expand. for people like you, you ruin people's hopes. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Reaper90210 (talkcontribs) 02:25, 1 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Hello

[edit]

Please keep my new entries on various youth group events; CHIC '88, CHIC '91, CHIC '94, Jesustyle, etc. These were major events attended by tens of thousands over the years and are noteworthy in the history of American evangelical church movements. I will complete the entries soon and footnote and cite these soon if you allow them to be posted. Thanks, MarineEric

Congratulations for your job on patrolling websites. I have started to play around with Wikipedia in the last couple of days, and created some random, non offensive, websites. You were fast and precise on your comments. It is because of people like you that Wikipedia is this great website. Take care! Riauhobi 10:12, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for helping revert vandalism on Tara Reid. It must have required a fair amount of vigilance to revert 13 vandalisms in 37 minutes (that is, watching the History page, etc.)

In case you were wondering, the hosts of the main radio channel of Triple J told people to do it, and they did. They later commented on the sprotect, and moved on.

Also, you might find God-mode lite, a piece of code people can use for anti-vandalism, useful. Just copy this to your Monobook.js... I'm just mentioning it if you want to use it. It supports a psuedo-admin rollback, which is useful for reverting vandalism, so long as you don't abuse it. (Also, see information on vandal-reverting IRC channels, which are quite useful, in WP:IRC). Thanks for your help. GracenotesT § 17:30, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Missed Some Vandalism

[edit]

There was some vandalism you missed on the Mario Lopez article. Compare my version with yours and you'll see what I mean. Acalamari 02:58, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I had a feeling that there might be some more. Thanks.  :) janejellyroll 02:59, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've just seen it. The vandalism I removed has been there for a while it seems, and now some User with a rude name (who will likely be blocked) re-added it. At least you reverted it. Acalamari 03:00, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is this you? If so, Hi! If not, Hi!. Either way, I noticed your welcome edit to My Lai Massacre (an article I pay close attention to, given my username...). A belated welcome to WP. Hope to cross paths again! Pinkville 13:49, 16 February 2007 (UTC) aka[reply]

Yes--that is me! You're the first LJ person I've come across on Wikipedia.  :) janejellyroll 22:38, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I guess it was only a matter of time till we crossed paths, given our shared interests... :~) I know one other lj friend on Wikipedia: Unended (aka unended01); he's made some excellent contributions on the death penalty and related topics. I imagine there are other ljers whom we know, but that are using unfamiliar usernames... What prompted you to start editing WP? Pinkville 01:39, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was just reading it and then I started finding inaccuracies in articles. That made me interested in improving it and now I do a lot of recent changes patrol-type stuff and add internal links to dead-end articles. Pretty mundane story, haha. janejellyroll 01:41, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Much the same for me... but it was while I was doing research for work that I came across a wrong date in the article on the Second Opium War and so made my first edit. That was in 2002, when I wasn't even sure what Wikipedia was - there were still so few articles that it seemed like every time I searched for a subject I got a blank new page - and I couldn't figure out what it was! In those days, I thought WP might have something to do with Mary Daly (thinking of her Wikedary)! Pinkville 02:10, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would have been really exciting to be involved with Wikipedia then! Most of the things I'm really interested in already have articles. The articles I've created have been from the requested article list for subjects I've never heard of before. Still, it's a really interesting way to learn new things. The idea of a Mary Daly Wiki makes my head spin--that would really be a trip! janejellyroll 02:13, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Those days were a bit of a blur for me - I hardly knew what I was doing. I only got a proper account in 2005... before that, I edited as an anonymous user (from several different computers). I have a dual identity on WP, with probably half my contributions being in photography-related articles (esp. early photographers in Asia) and the other half just following my fancy (with a political undercurrent, I imagine). Your patrolling has been pretty productive, it seems, with more than 3000 edits in a couple of months! Good on ya! ;~) Pinkville 02:38, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Mary Daly Wiki? Check this out: Donna Haraway¹s "Cyborg" and S. Paige Baty¹s "Matrix" have been added to Wickedary.com. Another addition to the digital Wickedary is the word "computer." Trench Coat Mafia

[edit]

If you see the 8 YouTube videos I left at the External Links of the Columbine High School Massacre page, they took Diary entries from the two kids, and they said they were apart of the "Trench Coat Mafia."

Royaljared 17:31, 7th of April 2007

Look, I'm not really inclined to engage in dialogue with anybody when they use personal attacks to open the interaction. Discuss your proposed changes on the talk page for the article. Don't bring your issues here. janejellyroll 03:05, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have read your page after you deleted somethings and so people come here because you delete work. Personal comments are about people feeling upset that you delete work. How personal does a person feel when their subject matter is deleted when the person doing the deleting has offered nothing to the subject. That is far more personal. Deleting is the crack cocane of wikipedia and the junkies on this stuff really upset in both worlds. I guess we will have to live with both. Personal choice to be a deleter.RoddyYoung 12:11, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that people come to my page after I either revert inappropriate edits (which was the issue with the above commenter) or nominate their pages for deletion (which I believe was the case with your page, on an alumni organization at a minor university). However, there is a difference between engaging in a dialogue with another editor and calling them a "dumb f--k." One is appropriate, the other is not. If you taking other people editing your work that seriously, you should step back and take a deep breath. It's best not to submit your work to a collabrorative enterprise such as this if you're going to become unhinged at attempted collaboration. janejellyroll 01:38, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dill Page

[edit]

I don't think it's appropriate for Eric Dill to redirect to The Click Five, so, I think something should be written about it. However, I don't have any ideas, because he's not that interesting. I wondered if you perhaps might want to help me with this project. --Char645 01:55, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think the main issue that we would confront in trying to recreate an independent page is that Dill seems to have zero notability aside from his involvement with The Click Five. The page before was based, if I remember correctly, exclusively on his website. General precedent is that band members (or former band members) without notability apart from their band should be part of the band article. That said, if you can find materials about his solo work (does he have a new band? does he have a record contract or notable acting jobs?), I'd be pleased to help you with an article. I'll do a search myself and see if I can locate anything. janejellyroll 02:05, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That was sort of what I was thinking. He hasn't really done anything, and there's nothing about him really, and, for some reason, I thought that you might know something to write about him, but you're right, he isn't really that interesting. --Char645 00:39, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, your comment just made me laugh out loud at work! You're right about him not being that interesting--I found his article (and The Click Five article) though Recent Changes Patrol. I've never even heard any of the band's music. I will be keeping my eyes open for information though. You never know what might happen in the future. janejellyroll 00:44, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, gotcha. I thought you might be a music fan because you tend to contribute/revert on musical/artist pages. I'm glad I made you laugh, and keep up the good work! --Char645 02:26, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Waikato University Alumni

[edit]

An anti banstorm for delete with out trying to improve. Burning of books comes to mind when I consider the contributions of deleters.RoddyYoung 12:04, 11 April 2007 (UTC) ps how do you revert your pages so fast?[reply]

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by "anti banstorm for delete with out trying to improve." Can you clarify? janejellyroll 01:31, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Anti banstorm is a debt relating to a person who works in a management mindset and forgets that goverance is about developing the long term good of wikipedia. How many pages have to be deleted and information lost before people will see that it is better to leave some material a lot longer to develop than a few days. Most to the time I start pages is when I have found nothing I am looking for and when another person come to that end of the road and finds a tree planted they will know another person has also been their. the deletes just cut down all the trees and waste so much time of others. Most deletes know nothing of the topic they delete and are like vandals but in the annonmous sence. I am not being personal here as this appies to all deleters. you just get this because you deleted my starter pages.

Are you certain about Alumni not having notability. This comments qualifies for another anti-banstorm. Are you suggesting that I find the most notable Alumni and then write a page on that then then move to the next etc. I was on the Board of the Waikato University Alumni for one year 2005/06 and I know it better than any other Alumni. Over time Alumni will see that they are notable and a culture of Alumni noting what they do will grow up. Are you aware that universities are the conscience and critic of society and for that reason the Alumni is a place that holds the lights of higher learning. Personal, no I understand your point about doing a job from a management stance, but what I was saying was from a governance point of view and highlighting policy planning. I see from your confusion over this that you think it was personal and I will have to approach governance in another quater.RoddyYoung 11:45, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure I follow your entire argument, but I can assure you that "deletes" (by this I assume you mean people who nominate pages for deletion) are not "like vandals but in the annonmous (sic) sense." I use my registered account whenever I nominate an article for deletion and I am willing to be accountable for all my edits. Furthermore, your "starter page" was not deleted. It was redirected to the university in question because there was not enough content to support an independent page. I am still not clear on what "anti banstorm" means. Saying that is is a "debt" doesn't clarify sufficiently. janejellyroll 21:50, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your comments, I note the sic references that you make, two reasons for this is that an improvement is not offered in barkets after it because that would show signes of willful improvement in wikipedia pages and I have found that serial deleters do not have that inate quality in general. The second reason is that sic represents a spelling mistake that would suggest that a person has a better vocab. This use of quoting style is correct in that it wants to tell the audience that a mistake was not made in the copy by the poster. However for historical documents or if a pun is used the sic can be informational but when it is associated with one ups personship then that is another matter. If you do not follow my argument I will state is in a more simple way, when you come across a site that is thin with material and before you nominate it for deletion then I suggest you spend some time looking into the matters of that page and add text to it until it makes your standard. A real industary has grown up around delete recommendations by people who seem unable to develop any subject from material at hand and intelegence endowered by God. Instead the delete is a mouse click away and once the process starts it gets a momentum of its own. Each delete is a knife cut and the old saying goes like this "death by a thousand knife cuts" and this is what not adding to pages to improve them to your level does. What is worse from Esopes Fables when the wolf could not reach the grapes because they were too high (intelectually) or that the wolf walked away saying that they were sour anyway. Deleters walk away from pages thy nominate for a delete like the wolf and they know that they could not reach what was being constructed and they say to them selfs what the wolf thought. RoddyYoung 12:45, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits

[edit]

Wow, you are amazing. If there is a tally kept of all the edits one person makes, you might be at the top of the list. Have you ever considered getting a life? Or at least a job?

Actually, there are several Wikipedia edit counters that you can run that would give you an accounting of how many edits an editor has accumulated. That said, I'd be very, very far from the top of the list (I think I've got about three thousand, not that many for the several months I've been here). Some editors have more than ten times my number of edits. Considering that it has been a day or two since I've even logged on, I think your advice for me to get a life and a job is a bit hasty. janejellyroll 01:34, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Email forwarding

[edit]

JaneJellyRoll,

could you take a few minutes to have another look at Email forwarding and just see whether its going in the right direction and .... whether you think it will remain - I'm really trying to write another web page altogether and I would like to know whether I can put a link into this article to help explain the concept (when someone who knows what they are talking about has a go!).

Alternatively, do you happen to know someone technical in Wikipedia who could check all the terminology, because e.g. I can't remember whether a mail client is a real term!

I still can't quite believe there isn't already an article!

Mike 11:18, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've looked at the article and it looks alright to me per Wikipedia policies. As for anything else, I am not very well-versed in computer terms, so I wouldn't be able to offer much help there. janejellyroll 22:47, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Debauchery (band)

hi, i don't understand why my article doesn't meet the requirements. i have provided 2 external links, both of which i used for information on the article in question. what more must i add? Brclmu 04:35, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

i've added a link to a review of one of the band's albums. i think that having a profile from a reputable metal website plus a review on a largely popular metal e-zine gives them notability. plus the fact they actually have an official website. that makes 3 sources proving the bands existence. enough? It is amazing to me what we can learn from watching what others "read into something" -- like what people might place in "blanks" to creat a word that is not actually there -- when there are many various possibilities. Psychologists have used this type of test to learn about people for many years now. I would just like to point out what Janejellyroll has revealed about her own racial views by creating such an offensive word so quickly from the blanks that were present in the above user's former name. Racism/Racist -- The truth is clear as to who the racist is. Maybe she should consider apologizing to the user or maybe she should think about other possibilities prior to jumping to conclusions. Best wishes for peace and harmony and that people will think instead of hate! --MullinsLabsInc 16:20, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jellyroll

[edit]

You are calling this gentleman's name offensive. How do you think your name sounds? It is a direct insult to anyone of heavy weight. If he has to change his, so should you.

Also, "LEGEND" when it has been research by numerous sources, peer-reviewed, and published by many professional journals and sources -- is not NEW RESEARCH. Might be new to you, but not to the world. Maybe the "new research" is what you need to do to learn about history, legends, and yes, about slurs --since you have chosen a very insulting slur for your own name!

What is good for one person, should be good for another.

If you are not going to change your name, then the gentleman that you have banned, should have all rights restored and returned, and receive apologies.

AND YES--JELLYROLL is an insulting slur... Be advised that if this is not addressed legal action will be taken against both of you. (You would think you would check out information prior to attempting to publish it, but you repeatly publish incorrect information based completely upon your opinions, which are not - and not even close to - fact.)

An offended and concerned reader and a mother (not anyone from any street!!!!)

Why do they have to be the person? Could they not be two people that share opinions? I know that I agree them and see what I have read here as a little closed minded from Wahkeenah and Janejellyroll -- I know that I am new here, but this looks more like the spreading of hate, not the pursuit of wisdom. That user has now been blocked by the admin. I'm not sure where that leaves the IP address in question, but we'll see what else happens. Wahkeenah 23:35, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate your kind words. There are editors who come here seemingly only to create trouble, and I have learned over time that you can cut them a little slack at first (the policy of "assuming good faith") and then at some point, when several warrantless reversions have occurred, you have to resist fighting them and just turn them over to the "authorities". I recommend that you keep those admins in your "watch" list as a quick reference, if and when you run into this kind of problem in the future. :) Wahkeenah 00:47, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Last Time!

[edit]

DO NOT attack VK35. He is not a suspect and I do not want him treated like one. For the last time I'm leaving wikipedia. I tried to be reasonable with you guys but you weren't. If you write me mail I won't respond because I'm DONE!Harebag 18:33, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have any suspicions of that user. The issue is your own behavior. Please be aware that even when you erase uncivil comments (as you have done on this talk page), they remain visible in the history. janejellyroll 21:51, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to be a fine line I have to walk on

[edit]

I admit and apolgize for using JV17 disruptivly in edit wars. If you want to report me or not it is up to you. If you do not however I promise to do the following,

  • 1.Never be involved in a edit war again.
  • 2.Never use JV17 again.
  • 3.If I use another user account I will use it constructivly and not in disputes.
  • 4.If another editor marks my article for deletion, notability, etc, I will not attack them, instead I will put a comment explaining myself on the discussion page.

As I say it is up to you.--law-enforcement-type-of-guy 00:08, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Since your sockpuppetry has already been reported and your admission already recorded on the appropriate page, I don't intend to push the matter further. I can't speak for any other editors involved, but I know that my own goal was to make sure that Wikipedia processes, carefully designed by hundreds of editors over the years, were not being circumvented by sockpuppet edits and that a moderate amount of civility was maintained throughout. Since you've detailed the new standard that you're going to hold yourself to, I personally consider the matter closed. I'm a fairly new user myself, and I know that Wikipedia policies can be somewhat confusing and overwhelming at the beginning. It isn't so much that you have to walk a "fine line," but when there are rules, following them tends to be a matter of importance. If I could give you one piece of advice, it would be that when you're in doubt about something, step back and think about things before editing. Look at policy pages and see if there are any applicable policies (say, for instance, about creating a 2nd account to remove tags on disputed articles) or ask an experienced user for advice. Every step of the way other editors have been trying to give you a hand. I know it might seem to you as if we got off on the wrong foot, but if I can ever help you in any way, please let me know. janejellyroll 02:51, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for spelling correction is the Religion on intercourse page

It is nice to see you being helpful and improving wikipedia with your corrections and I want to take back half the anti-banstorming comments I have made. You have atoned for your deleting and I appreciate that. Keep up the good work. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by RoddyYoung (talkcontribs) 13:51, 27 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

It's the same work I've been doing all along, including before you posted your "anti-banstorming" comments on my talk page. janejellyroll 05:12, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well I do thing that little changes are the best and this lets a page grow and become more than a delete. Smile and the world smiles with you. roddy RoddyYoung 12:58, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. I saw the external link and was like, oh, ok, they've got a website, that counts for something, right? My apologies. We might want to delete that talk page. DoomsDay349 20:36, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability Tag

[edit]

You tagged Joseph Bloch as not meeting the notability guidelines back in January. Since then, no substantive material has been added to the article and a google search on the name produces nothing that suggests the article meets the WP:BIO or WP:N standard. I therefore suggest it be taken to AfD. Eusebeus 09:36, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good to me. I'll take care of that right now. Thanks. janejellyroll 01:07, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trailing a vandalizer, I stumbled upon your talk page and noticed you have been harshly attacked several times. I thought you could use this.

Looks like you definitely deserve that ^. I haven't seen this much hostility on a user's talkpage in about 5 hours (although most of it is incomprehensible). Please keep up the good fight...Epthorn (talk) 19:39, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Blue Sky (2007 film)

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Mr. Blue Sky (2007 film), because another editor is suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of the page. B. Question

[edit]

i work with a Va state agency that is trying to get a page removed how do i go about doing it?

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. 5. Shortcut for patrollers to last changes list

Further, there are more than 20 proposals related to Watchlists in general that you may be interested in reviewing. (and over 260 proposals in all, across many aspects of wikis)
