Blocked for sockpuppetry

[edit]
Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abusing multiple accounts per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Abiel765. Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  ST47 (talk) 02:01, 9 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request

[edit]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Jamal047 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Today marks 8 months since I got banned from Wikipedia because of sockpuppetry. I am completely guilty of this and I acknowledge that it's completely my fault. The reason I created many accounts to proceed with edits is because in Wikipedia there are many edits that don't match with the POV of other users, mainly for nationalist purposes, and to avoid warring and being caught by other users, I created different accounts. Many users started removing everything related to history of my country and I childishly created dozen of accounts to proceed with my edits and to avoid being caught by them. I want to request for my unblock. As per WP:SO, I have been avoiding Wikipedia for more than 6 months. I promise I will never create other accounts and engage in such activity. I really want to contribute positively in Wikipedia mainly in areas of my interest such as history specially regarding to Central and South Asia. I will not participate in areas I am not experienced, or at least I will ask questions or gain some experience and knowledge before participating in those parts. I will never be disruptive or engage in nationalistic edit warrings. I will make sure to read policies at all times. I want to change how I will be on Wikipedia and make sure I don't make the same mistake I did 8 months ago. And, my edits will always be accompanied with reliable sources and references. Jamal047 (talk) 5:00 pm, 12 June 2022, Sunday (1 month, 20 days ago) (UTC−4)

Accept reason:

My sincere thanks. And apologies to all the WP community for the previous actions. Have a great day! Jamal047 (talk) 19:14, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Checkuser data shows no evidence of recent block evasion. However, given the sheer number of abusive sockpuppet accounts, I'm not personally swayed to lift the block. I'll leave that call to the next reviewing admin. --Yamla (talk) 22:26, 12 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock discussion

[edit]

Would want another checkuser confirmation, especially as it's > 1 month later. Jamal047, as this is a checkuser block, you might want to email WP:ArbCom at arbcom@enwikimedia.org Deepfriedokra (talk) 14:51, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom did receive an appeal from Jamal047, and decided to remove the checkuser portion of the block, which allows any administrator to review it. Maxim(talk) 18:18, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Deepfriedokra: Yes, I also emailed WP:ArbCom already as I wasn't receiving any response and the lack of any update worried me. Anyways, I will stay tuned on any decision taken by any further reviewing admin. I understand the sheer number of accounts I made prevents me from finally being unblocked and I'm totally responsible for my actions but I have learnt a hard lesson from it. Jamal047 (talk) 19:45, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Maxim Good to know Deepfriedokra (talk) 19:59, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, at least is it no longer a CU block. Deepfriedokra (talk) 20:02, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into Buddhism in Pakistan. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 20:37, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! August 2022

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Kautilya3. I noticed that you recently removed content from British Pakistanis without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please do not make contentious changes without explanation, or delete sourced content without explanation. Kautilya3 (talk) 11:57, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Is it regarding this [1] edit? I attributed content from Kashmiris in Azad Kashmir explaining the ethnic identity of the community hailing from there. Also the "Ballard" source that apparently I removed states the same that I was writing that how people there are not ethnic Kashmiris rather they are the same as the people from Pothohar, but the text instead of reiterating the source is stating that "Pahari dialects are the most common languages in UK", clearly misinterpreting the references. I just rearranged that attributing further content from Languages_of_the_United_Kingdom#Immigrant_languages. Jamal047 (talk) 14:40, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Important notice

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Back to back disruption

[edit]

@Deepfriedokra and Yamla: I was the initiator of the SPI which revealed dozens of socks by this user,[2] now after having a look at his recent edits I am seeing:-

  • 5 August 2022 Removes mentions of ancient India and medieval India; provides misleading edit summary and replaced more content without explanation. He goes off on a tangent to talk about how the historic Vedic religion is different than modern Hinduism in a pointy manner.
  • 18 August 2022 Removes a relevant image without leaving an edit summary.
  • 5 August 2022 Removes “medieval India” from the original text again.
  • 16 August 2022 Replacing cited material with new material with a misleading edit summary.
  • 4 August 2022 Removed etymological material, for which citations are plenty.

Compare this with his 2 edits last year:-

  • 21 April 2021 Removes internal link to Malwai Giddha, which is practiced predominantly in the Indian side of Punjab; Jhumar is celebrated in Punjab as well, especially on the Pakistani side. This reeks of nationalistic editing.
  • 1 June 2021 Removes “Sikhs and Hindus” from an article about Hindko-speakers.

Given he has violated the promises he had made in his unblock request ("I will never be disruptive or engage in nationalistic edit"), he should be now topic banned from editing anything about South Asia per WP:ARBIPA. There had to be no unblock in the first place without a topic ban from the area where this user happens to be most disruptive by throwing dozens of socks, but nevertheless, this user has disappointed us with the leeway he got. Wareon (talk) 17:28, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, so in the first edit, I specified the religious beliefs, which were quite different, later mantaining the Manusmriti, and the religious life from later on. The Vedic religion was developed in Punjab by the way, so I don't know why should it be not mentioned. Oh, and apparently I am dissasociating Hinduism or India when I also linked the connection of the Hindu Shahis with the Punjabis in many of my edits. In the second edit it clearly states nothing about Pashtuns, who were historically confined to southern Afghanistan contrary to the locations stated in the references, primarily Bactria and Sogdia, and describes the religious beliefs of the Kushans. Previously to the third edit, I provided a better relevant detailed image depicting the Vedic tribes in the Indian subcontinent, removing the other image but apparently I am "removing mentions of India". In the fifth, I specified the place of origin of the Romani people, which is the modern state of Rajasthan, later migrating to the northwest in the Punjab region, but apparently that's "misleading" when the edit is clearly quoted in the references. In the sixth how did I replaced the map of India when the new one is clearly also in India, and more clearer depicting the territories. I also provided the same type of these maps in other articles, specially in the Gupta empire, replacing the previous map with a "more Indo-centric" one, connecting it more with Pakistan, but yes, according to you I am being nationalistic and again disassociating with India. In the seventh edit I apparently removed relevant material when it clearly states in the "History" section that the date of the establishment of the stupa is unknown, whether during the Kushan empire or during the Mauryan era. In the last edit, I reverted an edit by an unregistered IP. Well, maybe yes, if I appear as disruptive and failed to do constructive edits in all my contribution history than I will accept the decision. Nothing I can do here. I just tried my best. Jamal047 (talk) 18:01, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I believe, but may be mistaken, that we cannot impose discretionary sanctions at this time as the user was only just notified about them. The user could possibly be blocked for violating their unblock, but I suggest instead we see how this plays out going forward. Additionally, I'll admit to being personally uncomfortable making a call here, as I do not have enough knowledge in this subject area. Jamal047, now that you are aware of the discretionary sanctions which may be applied to you if you are found to be editing inappropriately, going forward. To be specific, you may be prohibited from any further editing related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, broadly construed, if found in the future to be editing inappropriately in any of those subject areas. None of my statements here should prohibit another admin more familiar with this subject area from taking action. --Yamla (talk) 18:55, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited History of Sialkot, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jammu and Kashmir. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Humaima Malick

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to Humaima Malick . Thank you. --Hipal (talk) 22:08, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The references I added were literally personal interviews though, but anyways I will keep in mind and revise that. Jamal047 (talk) 22:12, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The information you added to the WP:LEDE appears to have been made up by you. Did I miss something? --Hipal (talk) 22:18, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think you are referring to the lead.[3] I added the most notable contributions, one being the acting debut where she received an award[4] and the other being the participation in the most notable Pakistani movie? The most notable and highest-grossing national movie of all time.[5]. The drama Ishq Junoon Deewangi stated in the current lead isn't even a notable or highly acclaimed show compared to others staten before, so I didn't get what was wrong here. Jamal047 (talk) 22:24, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
"and is best known for her appearance in the highest-grossing Pakistani film The Legend of Maula Jatt."[1] --Hipal (talk) 22:35, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I see, didn't changed the wording.
Will that be accurate then: "She made her film debut in the social-drama film Bol for which she receives critical acclaim and Lux Style Award for Best Actress.[2] She is also cast in the highest-grossing Pakistani film, The Legend of Maula Jatt, which released in October 2022.[3] Jamal047 (talk) 22:44, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That removes the WP:OR. I'm not sure what mention is due in the lede at this point. Right now it's WP:RECENTISM. --Hipal (talk) 22:50, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, alright. Yes it's a quite recent movie but so far the most notable piece produced by the country, so I stated that for that reason, but I see it doesn't qualify due to WP:RECENTISM. Can I restore the personal life section that I expanded. I think it can be helpful information. Jamal047 (talk) 23:00, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I looked for some better references to use that describe Malick's role in the film, but didn't find any. I expect there will be some in the future. Until then we shouldn't go far wrong if we make sure everything is properly verified. Thanks you. --Hipal (talk) 02:19, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine. Thanks for looking into that. Jamal047 (talk) 11:06, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Taank Kingdom

[edit]

Hi, I moved the page back because still the kingdom is mentioned as Taank in most of sources I've read, although it does have around half a dozen variants (mainly due to transliteration from Chinese). If you have more reliable citations, kindly add them.Sutyarashi (talk) 12:11, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Takka is by far the WP:COMMONNAME and the etymology of "Taank" is virtually nonexistent in literature. Take your concerns to Talk:Taank Kingdom. Thanks Jamal047 (talk) 12:20, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Northern Pakistan, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Swat and Kohistan.
