Welcome![edit]

Hello, Jablonskyman, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits to the page Catherine Zeta-Jones has not conformed to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and has been or will be removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or in other media. Always remember to provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles. Additionally, all new biographies of living people must contain at least one reliable source.

If you are stuck and looking for help, please see the guide for citing sources or come to the new contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask a question on your talk page. Again, welcome.  TJH2018talk 04:11, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

British Nationalities[edit]

Please do not change nationality on autobiographies without providing some kind of reason. UK nationalities are complex with no simple single solution. So the nationality mentioned in the leads are often the result of peculiarities of the individual, and have been reached through consensus. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 12:14, 12 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop[edit]

American people of Jewish descent is already covered by the smaller category American people of Lithuanian-Jewish descent. All your additions now have to be reversed. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 19:18, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to John Quincy Adams does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Information icon Hello, I'm JosVan. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on David Bowie, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Josvan Talk 01:45, 18 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding unreferenced or poorly referenced biographical content, especially if controversial, to articles or any other Wikipedia page, as you did at Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Wikipedia policy. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. —ATS 🖖 talk 02:01, 18 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Two additional issues:

  1. See MOS:BLPLEAD (and specifically WP:UKNATIONALS) for British v. English. Since nationality takes precedence, "British" will virtually always be correct.
  2. The parameter | honorific_suffix = is to be used for knighthoods, etc. Also, <small> must, like all other html tags, be closed: <small>small text</small> is required to render small text. —ATS 🖖 talk 02:29, 18 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

February 2017[edit]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize pages by deliberately introducing incorrect information, as you did at Nora Swinburne, you may be blocked from editing. —ATS 🖖 talk 05:24, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2017 election voter message[edit]

Hello, Jablonskyman. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
