RE: Amy McCann[edit]

Should I take some photographs of McCann and Hamilton? They don't seem to be the most high-profile players in the women's league, don't know how comfortable they would be with having their images on WP. Ottre 23:21, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

They both meet notability criteria (or any player on the national women's team for that matter), if you think you could get a photo of them, that'd add to the colour of the article. I plan to create articles for the members of the team when it gets picked again at the end of May, to coincide with the 2010 Women's Baseball World Cup. The only other articles I have apart from those two, is one on Simone Wearne, Shae Lillywhite and Katie Gaynor. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 08:12, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you need some photos, I can supply some. --Amymccann31 (talk) 04:33, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Kit trousers padrescap.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File:Kit trousers cap padrescap.png listed for deletion[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Kit trousers cap padrescap.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:30, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:BrisbaneBandits.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:BrisbaneBandits.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 16:05, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This was a long time ago (back in February), but thank you for adding the copypaste tag (and the source on the talk page!) on that article. As far as I know, some parts of the history section which you mentioned, has been copied from http://www.stritas.qld.edu.au/index.asp?id=5. Anyway, thank you for helping out! Women in Baseball[edit]

I have noticed your edit of an entry I made in the ABL page, deleting mention of Megan Salic. (A) Is there a particular reason for deleting mention of a leading promoter, marketer, thinker (i.e. academic), exponent, and manager of ABL? (B) Is it, perhaps, because this person is female? (C) Is there a particular reason to diminish the female component and appeal of baseball in Australia? (D) Is that likely to be of value to the ABL, or baseball in general? I would welcome -- indeed, expect -- your reply to each of these questions, in detail. Thank you.- Peter Ellis - Talk 13:26, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wow. Ok. First of all, you need to assume good faith, something it looks like you have failed to at least once this month. I deleted the information about Megan Salic because it was relatively trivial information about a single individual on the league page, she doesn't meet WP:NOTABLE guidelines for her own article, let alone a single mention on the page. It is perhaps more relevant on the Canberra Cavalry page, but to mention it on the ABL page, for neutrality you'd have detail staff such as Pat Kelly, Paul Gonzalez, Eddie Bray, Rob McCluskey as well as many other front office staff and volunteers.
Now, your other three questions I find very offensive and pretty much a personal attack. The answer to why I removed the content, explained above, is definitely not because this person is female. I personally believe I have contributed to the topic of women in baseball more than any other Australian Baseball WikiProject member, perhaps more than any Baseball WikiProject member. Articles relating to females in baseball I have created include this article, this article, this article, this article, this article, this article, this article, this article, this article, this article, this article, this article, this article, this article, this article, this article, this article, this article and this article. Not to mention the countless number I have edited significantly. If you can find a user on Wikipedia who has contributed more to women in baseball then I'll be very surprised.
If you seriously believe I am sexist, I'd love to discuss it further on an administrator noticeboard, because quite frankly this is a slap in the face for a lot of hard work I put into this particular topic, not just on this website, but in baseball itself. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 02:26, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Okay; and thank you for the fulsome explanation. So, did you, after my comment, and your obviously (as you explained) non-misoginistic efforts, incorporate the imformation on Megan Salic onto the Cavalry page, or are you relying on me to do that small task?- Peter Ellis - Talk 09:01, 18 February 2011 (UTC) And, yes, as you will have noticed, I do assume good faith, but I read people's actions om the effect they have.- Peter Ellis - Talk 09:13, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe more to the point, are you relying on me to do such a small task? I think an apology would be quite appropriate here rather than try and explain your actions. This has been very off-putting. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 13:43, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tacking this reply on here: There is women's baseball played in Canberra. I don't play it myself. I do know it goes on and they were discussing the national championships for women on the local ABC radio station the other day. There isn't much coverage for either gender here... :( Will try to improve Women's baseball in Australia some. If you want to fix it up, it may be young enough that it still qualifies for a WP:DYK nomination. --LauraHale (talk) 08:34, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Baseball in the ACT in general is pretty small, let alone women. However, in Victoria, I'd go as far as saying its the largest amateur women's baseball league in the world, I'll see what I can do to find some more on it. Love you work either way. JRA_WestyQld2 Talk 12:13, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There is a good book about women's baseball in the United States that explains why it didn't catch on there, and women were pushed into softball. Back to Australia, if you start poking through Trove, it historically looks like the biggest places for women's baseball were Queensland and Western Australia. (This could just be because Tasmanian newspapers didn't cover it or the sport wasn't popular there, despite a book source claiming it to be.) The Victoria part is interesting. Would be nice to have sources for that to include in the article. --LauraHale (talk) 20:32, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed that an article you created Gunnah_Mollah has been proposed for deletion, but that you were not notified. I thought you may want to know so that you can review the proposed deletion. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 04:25, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Bradley Tippett requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. TransporterMan (TALK) 16:47, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Image license[edit]

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that File:RNA Showgrounds.jpg doesn't have a license. You should give it one, probably some type of {{self}}. --Gyrobo (talk) 04:00, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for setting the image license! Now that it's under an open license, someone will move it to the commons. You may want to upload images directly to the commons in the future, because those images are all under open licenses, and can easily be used on any language wiki. --Gyrobo (talk) 04:10, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your prod on this article. "Not notable enough" assumes some notability, so it is a judgement call that should be made at AfD where more eyes will look at it. I am neutral on it, but I suspect it could be improved to be a good article. --Bduke (Discussion) 21:59, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Geelong Baseball Association has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable, no sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
