Speedy deletion of Secret Society of Vegans

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Secret Society of Vegans requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Beach drifter (talk) 20:31, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of "Vegan Treats"

[edit]

A page you created, Vegan Treats, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how it is important or significant, and thus why it should be included in an encyclopedia. A tag has been placed on Vegan treats, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Vegan treats

[edit]

Hello, I am contacting you about your new article "Vegan treats". I see that in the past you might have had problems with notability while creating that specific article. Your current article seems of note and won't be speedy deleted. However, the tone of the article is too familiar and frankly, reads like an ad. Remember to keep your articles as close to the Neutral Point of View as possible. You can also see WP:MOS for other writing tips.

I wish you success in your wiki-endeavors. Acebulf (talk) 19:47, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion

[edit]

Thanks for message and email. You can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~. There are two criteria for companies on Wikipedia.

  • You must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines for companies and organisations. On balance, I would accept that the company is probably notable enough, and you have attempted to reference, so a speedy would not be appropriate on those grounds anyway.
  • However, it was written in a promotional tone and looked like an advert for the organisation. Please see this information. Examples include cultural phenomenon... known worldwide as the leader.... Celebrity endorsements, let alone "Celebrity Love" have no place in an encycopaedia. Although you have "referenced" the claims, the sources are not independent and reliable, and an encyclopaedia article isn't the place for reviews anyway.

The whole thrust of the article is to advertise your products in a very spammy way. There's nothing about the history of the company, number of staff, turnover etc. Although the awards section could be justified, I'm not sure of the significance of awards that lack their own Wikipedia articles. You will note that the article was deleted by a second admin too, and protected by a third, so it's not just me. If you wish to recreate, work on it in the sandbox you used before and let me know. Since you have a conflict of interest, you could alternatively post a request at Wikipedia:Requested articles for the article to be created. See also Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest. A minor point; if you do recreate, spell out US states in full.
